La Pom Pom Girl is doing the Double Dutch. But who is turning the skipping ropes? Part three/trois/drie of the continuing discussion of Endgame by Omid Scobie. Previous thread:

I think this is so sad. If one of my parents had made an offensive remark about pretty much any taboo subject, the last thing I would do is broadcast this news to the whole world, even if my relationship with them was fractured. It's just really messed up.

I've read H's book and there is a lot of love between father and son. A whole childhood. Prince H is a damaged individual and the sad thing is, because of his wealth he doesn't have to work out how to have a peacemeal relationship with his family - he doesn't have to lean on them in any way.

Too many therapists, too much introspection.

Placcyboel · 01/12/2023 22:00

God, that video of Meghan bowing. Harry absolutely hated it. It is all so uncomfortable. I definitely think that the Royal Family are an uncomfortable lot, but I am not sure what Meghan was trying to gain. Bit unfathomable all round.

Supersimkin2 · 01/12/2023 22:10

Meghan took the cheque for a scandal and had to deliver one that also launched her as a humanitarian in 60 minutes.

She couldn’t say ‘I hate my in-laws cos they only paid a measly million for my frocks’ so had to cast around desperately for offence taken on a worthy topic.

It had to be all about her, as her previous teeny-tiny charity speech had been. Racism was handy cos her existing speech was about that. She’s only ever given one. Same speech, different towns.

So she and Harry came up with a gloriously awful accusation, based on amplifying, escalating and aggrandising bog-standard family small talk some years before the child she claims is a race-hate victim was conceived.

She’s got form for being a liar. So’s he. They’re both people who can’t maintain relationships. After the Flounce, they got folie de grandeur and thought they were bulletproof.

I hope they end up in court, which they love, cos it might shut them up.

Supersimkin2 · 01/12/2023 22:14

Is anyone amazed they’re still married?

Honestly no I'm not. They only have each other so I really don't think they'll get divorced.

CauliflowerCheese30 · 01/12/2023 22:18

Amazing how forgiving Meghan is about Harry's very well known public racist slurs, and he's totally forgiven yet we are supposed to vilify Catherine and Charles, on something that was said before, the child was born, or even before they were pregnant, and yet, we have no idea what was said, how quick would they be to sue if this was the other way round?

Also like has been said, Meghan has fallen out and has issues with a lot of people, time to look closer to home as to where the issues stem from.

SkyFullofStars1975 · 01/12/2023 22:29

She'll never divorce him. But I wouldn't be surprised if they are largely living separate lives, even in separate homes.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 01/12/2023 22:44

I also find it difficult to stomach the issues around getting help for mental health.

If anyone is unluckily enough to require mental health support from the NHS then their sympathy for someone wealthy enough to pay for treatment is thin.

That isn't at all to minimise anyone's suffering -poor mental health is awful for all regardless of wealth. But wealth allows for private treatment, rather than being added to a list of 3years+.

CauliflowerCheese30 · 01/12/2023 22:47

Not just that, Harry had help for his issues, but all of a sudden nothing for Meghan? Yeah right.

I was trying to quote the poster above me, I'm still getting to grips with this new way!!

😂 remember Oprah's face in that interview, like opening her mouth like a surprised fish. Never mind you could have asked him abou that fancy dress party and those comenta about his ethnic friend in the army but no

HonoriaLucastaDelagardie · 01/12/2023 22:56

I don't understand why Meghan, or Harry on her behalf, couldn't pick up the phone and call her own doctor. She was pregnant, she must have been getting healthcare from someone, somewhere.

And whether they divorce or not, H is now stuck in California, as long as the children are domiciled there.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstotheyard · 01/12/2023 23:02

Harry had co-founded Heads Together mental health campaign with Catherine and William before Meghan came along - and he still didn't get any help for his wife, or didn't seem to have a clue what to do. Makes me think he was just a hanger on and not paying attention. I still can't believe he was expecting his SIL, with a new baby, two pre schoolers, and a history of illness in pregnancy, to sort out his wife's mental health issues, while he had his own therapist on speed dial.

Can you imagine having someone you can phone and who would answer?

Apologies, I have had a difficult evening.

The whole debacle is going to eventually make people avoid people who are not of their own race, either through fear of racism, or through fear of being labelled racist.

That is already happening sadly.

The problem with these accusations of racism and unconscious bias is that people are being ordered to ignore their own instincts and gut feelings, their own knowledge of themselves and to only believe the assertions of other people, often people they’ve never even met and whose motives can not be clearly examined. They’re also told to not do so is further clear evidence of racism and bigotry. There is no other area in life that this would be a the healthy and correct thing to do. It is, in short, a total head fuck and I will never in all my life understand how so many usually sensible people have been persuaded to go along with it and mindlessly parrot the tropes of a belief system that literally makes NO sense and is damaging and divisive beyond belief.

What you are saying is very true. We have very good private institutions and it took us a few weeks to get an appointment with a psychiatrist when he really needed it. In the meantime we were able to pay for some private therapist appointments. I feel really sorry for anyone who doesn't have those resources. Meanwhile Harry and Megan had every resource at their disposal. They were absolutely bullshitting about their inability to get help.

JSMill · 01/12/2023 23:16

I should say insurance not institutions!

Or maybe none of it ever really happened and is just a load of made up emotive nonsense that no one would dare to question too closely as it was so sensitive and the person in question was presenting as so “fragile”…

I think it's highly unlikely he'll want to give the hack Scoble any more publicity. More likely he's pissed off that all this is distracting attention from the climate conference. If he talks about anything that's happened this week, it'll be that.

milveycrohn · 01/12/2023 23:57

Personally, I think the saddest thing about this, is that it will make the RF very cautious in future about any potential spouses/partners the children will bring home, etc long before they get as far as getting married.
Meghan has stated she was not required to sign an NDA; of course not; she was considered family. However, in future, they will hesitate before welcoming a newcommer in at all.
Obviously, they cannot protect themselves against a future child such as George writing his book, etc. All we can hope is that William and Catherine give their children a very good grounding in being a family.

Vespanest · 02/12/2023 00:02

Individually they both seem in pain, there is no denying the racism Meghan did suffer, I think they need someone in their lives to talk them down as they don’t seem able to do that for each other. They escalate drama rather than de escalate. Ideally the need to curtail the Sussex squad (easier said than done) on social media as they are not helping, in fact their behaviour is against everything that the Sussex’s supposedly stand for. The same for Scobie, those who like him still do and those who think he’s a weasel haven’t changed their minds. The book has dirted both sides, he’s the only one who’s gained. It’s all so murky and sad for all involved. At some point the realisation that for every punch thrown they damage the royal family but damage themselves as well.

Andrew Morton reckons they started negotiating the Oprah interview 6 months after they got married. If that's true, they had plenty of time to plan(t) some drama to talk about.

@YourNameGoesHere i'd deny it at every opportunity but then i'm not racist 🤷‍♀️

They did deny it though? With the Queen's "recollections may vary" statement and William saying "we are very much not a racist family".

What more can they say? They're clearly not going to get into a tit-for-tat "he said, she said" with Omid Scobie.

I haven't looked at the RF board for a while, interesting that the usual H&M lovers seem to have disappeared...or at least toned it down substantially.

EnoughIsay · 02/12/2023 02:05

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 01/12/2023 11:47

I have a feeling that she either co-wrote or heavily influenced the book, hence there being a version (hers) with the names in and that’s the version that’s been published in the Netherlands. Perhaps Scobie was told to remove that section not realising there was another version still floating around?
Either way I hope he gets hauled into court and Meghan and Harry questioned about their involvement/ version pigs might fly

This is nutso.

Meghan Markle wrote this booK??

Seriously?
