La Pom Pom Girl is doing the Double Dutch. But who is turning the skipping ropes? Part three/trois/drie of the continuing discussion of Endgame by Omid Scobie. Previous thread:

@Makemydaypunk

she really was a dick when she spoke like this !

That self-satisfied grin as she emerges from her 'curtsy' is something else.

This is an intelligent woman?

Harry seems deeply uncomfortable with her behaviour but just sits there and goes along with it. What a pair.

JSMill · 01/12/2023 20:17

IcedPurple · 01/12/2023 19:53

and Meghan is hardly lacking in intelligence, performance skills and looks.

I'm not sure if a person who didn't understand the hierarchy inherent in monarchy is all that intelligent. I've seen no evidence of any great intelligence on her part. To be frank, an intelligent woman would not marry a man like Harry. Intelligent women marry at least their intellectual equals.

As for 'performance', she only did about 70 royal engagements and then gave up on it. There were lots of aspects of royal life she couldn't adapt to. Being a senior royal isn't about giving 'empowering' speeches at a glamorous event. Well, it might be occasionally, but generally speaking it's a bit more mundane than that.

I think she for some reason thought it was about giving inspiring speeches to awestruck audiences. She didn't seem to enjoy the tours and walkabouts.

Wow youre all crazy. Forget the racism, lets bitch about the people who told about the racism.

Wow youre all crazy. Forget the racism, lets bitch about the people who told about the racism.

What racism though? You mean the baseless accusations they've chucked around for years with no proof or evidence...

Why shouldn't we discuss the people who have helped publish a book which claims people are racists without any proof?

ArcaneWireless · 01/12/2023 20:24

Racism?

Even Harry said there wasn’t any racism.

No one on this thread was crazy.

Although that is debatable now.

21ZIGGY · 01/12/2023 20:25

@YourNameGoesHere what proof or evidence do you want of a private coversation? Your mates havent denied it

Vespanest · 01/12/2023 20:27

I’d actually admire them if they actually told about the racism. If you are going to level an accusation then do it. Had they done it at Oprah those in question could have had a proper right of reply if they disagreed. They’ve actually dismissed racism with a pathetic unconscious bias approach. Which as a white man is not in Harry’s orbit to do in regards to black racism. How can you call someone racist if you don’t know what they’ve said, maybe those accused don’t even know what they supposedly said.

My mates? You mean those who've been named, why would they get involved to deny it, would you lower yourself to that if you'd been accused of racism, I wouldn't I'd leave it to professionals.

Also if it was me and if been named in a book then I'd expect those very serious allegations to come with some evidence wouldn't you? Especially as one of those people making the claims had recently admitted there was no racism...

21ZIGGY · 01/12/2023 20:37

@YourNameGoesHere i'd deny it at every opportunity but then i'm not racist 🤷‍♀️

AllisColm · 01/12/2023 20:38

@Vespanest you are actually correct in that point about Harry . There are posters who say all the time on here that unless you are a POC then you cannot talk about what is and is not racism. Yet there he is.

AllisColm · 01/12/2023 20:41

I see all of this has dropped down the news headlines - nothing coming out of California and the Palace taking advice.

Meanwhile "Dutch copies of Endgame selling for eight times the retail price after being pulled from shelves"

Welcome to the thread. Are you a person of colour? I am. I find Harry a disgusting racist, always have, he showed his true colours very early on.

I find it incredibly offensive that a private conversation was thrown into the ring by H&M, but they were unwilling or unable to substantiate it. And then Harry later downgraded it to unconscious bias, a term that comes out of critical race theory, which is not the law, not lore and not accepted by huge swathes of people of colour.

They were of course taking advantage of the now hugely discredited BLM movement to garner sympathy. Clever them.

The outcome of the actions of people like them, the back tracking and twisting of fact, is to render suspicious genuine and substantiated instances of racism.

And the RF did deny it: recollections may vary.

Critical thinking skills certainly vary.

This is weird logic. So if someone takes a dignified silence it's an admission of guilt? What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

21ZIGGY · 01/12/2023 20:37

Deny what though?

When was the 'comment' made?

Who said it?

How can you 'deny' something when you don't know what it is you're meant to be denying?

Do you know everything every member of your extended family might or might not have said in private conversations going back several years?

Vespanest · 01/12/2023 21:26

By its very nature unconscious bias used as an umbrella term rather a specific incident cannot be denied its why it’s a cop out. We are all guilty of unconscious bias. According to Harry his own racist behaviour was unconscious bias.

I was thinking that when I saw her at those Variety awards last week, posing like a starlet in front of the ad screen, having to be moved on for the next person. She could have been at the state banquet for the president of South Korea at Buckingham Palace, in a tiara and bespoke Givenchy, talking with various cultural, social and political people of influence.

When they proposed “Half in Half out” , it was probably so that they could attend state dinners in tiaras and skip the low key engagements like the opening of a leisure centre.

Harry and Meghan seem to have forgotten that Diana’s work that left the biggest impact was post divorce and she had already spent years doing the low key stuff.

If Meghan had stayed she would have eventually moved onto more serious issues in the same way that Sophie has.

Charlingspont · 01/12/2023 21:32

The whole debacle is going to eventually make people avoid people who are not of their own race, either through fear of racism, or through fear of being labelled racist.

twinklystar23 · 01/12/2023 21:34

@JSMill my point was that she may have perceived that titles given to W&k children was likely as far as she was concerned linked to "unconscious bias" as it may have appeared that G,C &L were getting preferential treatment. Rather than that they are (george especially) in the direct line of succession.
Harry's ignorance is astounding and the fact she is supposed to be intelligent beggars belief its not difficult to understand how an hereditary monarchy works. Which leads me to conclude that Meghan genuinely doesn't understand how the monarchy works. Or that she chooses to frame it as unfair to her and by default to her children. By contrast viewing that it was favourable treatment towards G,C &L (I'm suggesting this would be her view, (Not mine!) It would also explain what they may be referring to as "unconscious bias" they referenced to this in the OW interview.

WaggyEars · 01/12/2023 21:35

Harry's wrong, his behaviour was actually racist. At least in the past he acted like a thick racist, we all know the type. He may have graduated to unconscious bias since marrying Meghan and having mixed race kids, maybe.

StartupRepair · 01/12/2023 21:43

I think Meghan wanted a level of adulation that is not realistic. Respect needs to be earned and she did not do enough to earn it.

Megan apparently married into the RF without a real idea of how it worked. H's dcs aren't going to be very important and not on a par to their cousins. They will also become less relevant over time. Not giving H's children titles was actually 'following protocol'. Perhaps she should have done a bit of research before marrying in to the family.

WaggyEars · 01/12/2023 21:50

Meghan reminds me of someone I know who has an unstable personality. I think Meghan has had a difficult upbringing, and an emotionally not a safe and grounding background and family. The race thing is probably her complex trauma embedded in her white / african american parents, which was still fairly taboo when Meghan was younger. And her own mother abandoned her either Doria went to prison, which would have caused much shame for a young teenager or she went off to 'find herself' and live her best life. Meghan is acting some inner pain out, which she is probably oblivious to. However, she is being extremely destructive about it and basically trying to destroy the Walses. It's all quite tragic. On a fundamental level, Meghan probably envies Catherine's stable loving family the most, the tiaras and royal seniority second.

I'm not convinced Harry's pre Meghan behaviour is 'unconscious bias' or can be brushed away as such.
