His end goal must be subsidised or provided security abroad, as he is still getting police protection in the UK, he just has to request and is barely here, especially once all the court cases are over. It seem a lot of effort, for very little gain, especially as Princess Diana is often mentioned who was in France so not even a comparison for Harry.

Ravec’s whole purpose is to allocate the scarce resource of state-funded security on a risk-based basis. So I imagine that determining the right approach to a “high risk low probability” event like an attack on Prince Harry acting as a private citizen is absolutely what they have done

It's not exactly persuasive to tell people what they should be doing, is it? I'd expect a KC to have something a bit more compelling, TBH.

As for Omid he must be absolutely livid, the book seems dead in the water, the interviews drying up. As for Harry and Meghan they’d be stupid to use or allow those close to them to use Scobie for promotion/gossip until everything dies down or preferably not at all.

So if he won this court case, would the Americans have to pay for the security, even though they weren't part of the decision making? That's going to go down well!
I still can't get over them going to Canada for a break in November 2019, then never coming back except for a couple of brief visits,This would have meant their police protection officers would spent much much longer away from home than they ever imagined. These people have lives and families which would have been disrupted. It shows how self centred H and M were, assuming people would just spend all that time away from home, with no warning.

Not even. It's a judicial review so is challenging the procedure, not the result. Even if successful, the most that can happen is that Ravec have to reassess their decision. They could very well come to the same conclusion all over again. I'm no expert, but I can't see this producing the result Harry wants. Security decisions are under constant review. Even if they had stayed as working royals, their security arrangements might have been downgraded by now, as they have been for other royals. Round the clock armed security is a limited resource.

So much effort, expense and stress for so little potential gain. I really do think this is a combination of Harry's stupidity and his sense of grievance, both of which know no bounds.

I wonder if Harry is giving thought to the very real possibility that Trump may win the next election and he's already made it clear that he's not a fan of Harry & Meghan after he felt they were disrespectful to the Queen.
It is not beyond the realms of possibility that Trump would look to revoke Harry's visa and leave him unable to live in the US, and there's not a chance in hell that he'd let American taxpayers foot the bill for their security.
Perhaps Harry is future proofing his security just in case he's left with no option but to return the UK (I know that all sounds very conspiracy theorist but anything goes with US politics at the moment!)

I think as a Senior Working Royal he did have IPP status. His status changed after they stepped back. Its why Canadian Mounties were providing security for them initially in Canada and why they had to "flee" to the US (that, and covid restrictions).
