La Pom Pom Girl is doing the Double Dutch. But who is turning the skipping ropes? Part three/trois/drie of the continuing discussion of Endgame by Omid Scobie. Previous thread:

I don't think it's about Charles. If he lives as long as his mother he has about 20 years left. After that, William will cut him off. I'm not sure how inheritance will work after that. The Monarch passes everything on tax free to other Monarchs and then they choose to support siblings. I doubt William will give anything to Harry, Archie or Lilli. I think Harry expected a reconciliation but that hadn't happened. I do think part of that is because it's being whipped up out of all proportion by the press, and no one is bothering to do anything about that. Harry wrote a book about how wronged he felt in the RF, but so did Charles.

Edited

charles will likely set up trust funds for his grandchildren as the Queen did, and the Queen Mother did for her gr-grandchildren.

Thats all paid for nicely in advance do not included in anything inheritance wise.

Then as you say everything else will be left to William to avoid any taxes. I think William will follow Charles’ wishes with regard to Harry and his family, just as Charles will never completely cut Andrew out financially against his mothers wishes

Lockupyourbiscuits · 03/12/2023 16:50

I hope Charles makes separate provisos for his grandchildren for when they are adults
Harry and Meghan will spend it all if they ever their mitts on it
Harry moaning about being “cut off “ he will think he’s entitled to his children’s money too

IcedPurple · 03/12/2023 16:54

They have done a documentary- about themselves, Oprah ,Spare and likely collaborated on this, even though most of the book is apparently not about them. That is not a lot of content for 4 years.

They've also done various interviews and collaborated on 'Finding Freedom'. You really think that is 'not a lot of content for 4 years'? 4 years is twice the length of time Meghan was a working member of the royal family. What else of substance have they done in those 4 years?

Didn't he say something his speech for them this year about how the Queen would have wanted him there rather than with her or something?

Yes, OP, that was at this year's WellChild event and the comment was:
"As you know, I was unable to attend the awards last year as my grandmother passed away. As you also probably knowshe would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her, and that’s precisely why I know exactly one year on that she is looking down on all of us tonight, happy we’re together, continuing to spotlight such an incredible community"

Yes, really strange turn of phrase. "She would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her...." I can't put my finger on it, but it just feels like a really unnecessary remark where he's essentially deflecting guilt or something, probably because he had had no plans to go and see her after his speech had she lived.

Wasn't Dior tweeting about them dressing Harry for the coronation? And wasn't he flashing a Dior label when entering the Royal Courts of Justice for one of his many court cases? The Dior connection with H&M being made by the press didn't come out of thin air - they were clearly courting the connection.

(I think the actress playing Kate Middleton in The Crown has the Dior gig now).

Edited

Also, the Dior story came out at the same time as they were dropped by Spotify and got called 'grifters'. It was a useful distraction. Simply having Meghan's name associated, however vaguely, with a top Paris couture brand like Dior was a positive change of focus.

A lot can happen in 20yrs though.

W&H may have reconciled to an extent.

Archie & Lili may have their own relationship with William & he may wish to help them.

The difference between George & his siblings may be in sharper focus for him.

Meghan signed with WME in April. Does anyone know what has come of that ? We keep hearing about big announcements etc but zilch .,

AllisColm · 03/12/2023 17:14

Recently she said "We have so many exciting things on the slate. I can't wait until we can announce them. Just really proud of what we're creating,"

Well for most of that time there have been the strikes, so it’s hardly surprising nothing has come from that

Serenster · 03/12/2023 17:15

On the red carpet for the Variety Women of Power Event a couple of weeks ago Meghan said: “ We have so many exciting things on the slate - I can't wait until we can announce them. Just really proud of what we're creating."

So, announcements may be pending. Which would be good for Meghan as I think Netflix buying the rights to produce Meet Me At the Lake for Archewell to produce is the only new project they’ve announced this year, I think?

When you go no contact with a sibling in the way that William has, there's rarely any going back. I think a reconciliation is highly unlikely.

Perhaps.

I know now that I'm pushing 60 things that pissed me off in my 30s/40s don't seem such a big deal looking back.

However, there was nothing on this scale!

Certainly I think whilst Meghan is in the picture there's unlikely to be any thawing.

SkyFullofStars1975 · 03/12/2023 18:15

Having gone no contact with a sibling myself, hell will freeze over before I'm dragged back anywhere near having to talk to them again.

I can't see William ever forgiving or forgetting this slur against Catherine.

pilates · 03/12/2023 18:54

That’s exactly how my DH feels about his brother @SkyFullofStars1975

NovemberAutumn · 03/12/2023 19:00

Yep my DH is 70 and his brother 66 and DH will never speak to or acknowledge his brother again.

Neither will I. In my case it is based on 20 years of behaviour from him that people would think I was trolling if I even started giving details. For DH it is a further 10 years more than that.

Maerchentante · 03/12/2023 19:09

Not siblings, but my mum's brothers. If I never have to see or speak to them again, it'll be a lifetime too soon.
Too much gone on there, and if I hadn't witnessed first hand I'd think someone's trying to sell a cheap soap opera.

If Harry one day realises (and that's a big if) what his throwing the toys out of the pram has cost him, it will be too late.
They might talk to him to keep up appearances, but if RF talk to H&M it will only be the most superficial small talk that can not be twisted into the next episode of this drama.

AutumnCrow · 03/12/2023 19:17

If I were Kate I'd be wearing a wire.

Vespanest · 03/12/2023 19:43

One of my sibling cut all contact with family and friends, their adult children who reengaged with the extended family were already estranged from my sibling at this point. As a family we have tried especially since our parents died and hoping we could maybe meditate in regards to the children, but all has failed. Pride and all that. The longer the break the harder the reconciliation.

Chouxpastryishard · 03/12/2023 19:57

If something happens to Doria they will have no extended family at all. Really sad. Meghan is used to having few family members with whom she spent any time, but for Harry it will seem very strange. His kids won’t know any of his family apart from perhaps Eugenie.

Charlingspont · 03/12/2023 20:33

I think Harry probably still speaks to the Spencer side?

BethDuttonsTwin · 03/12/2023 20:39

Another “source” has said that Meghan felt she had more rights to speak at certain events and about certain issues because she was a “self made” woman and Kate had never had a career. I mean that’s not really news it it? We’ve all known since months in that Meghan thought she was too good for all this and that she should be prioritised. This attitude explains so much. She must have been an absolute nightmare for palace staff to deal with. Have any of you had to work with someone like that? I know I have and it was miserable.

How long are these attacks on POW going to be allowed to continue though? It’s just constant sneering and spite now.

pilates · 03/12/2023 20:42

Even if I was on the Spencer side I still wouldn’t trust M&H to regale tales

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstotheyard · 03/12/2023 21:00

I wonder how Charles Spencer felt about Harry using the Bashir interview in the Netflix doc, after William had expressly asked for it never to be used again. Charles Spencer said he was groomed by the BBC, who used him to persuade Diana to do the interview. Endgame accuses William of trying to silence Diana by silencing the documentary, and praises Harry for using it. If Scobie is Harry's mouthpiece, Harry is at odds with his uncle on that subject, and pretty much thumbing a nose at the pain he must feel in relation to his part in that whole sorry saga. Diana got rid of her security detail because Bashir had told her and her brother that they were selling her secrets - a move that resulted in her being largely unprotected in Paris.

I think I may have read somewhere that Alexandra "Tiggy" Pettifer, Harry's former nanny, is being invited to the Duke of Westminster's wedding. Another victim of the Bashir's manipulation, about whom he told the most appalling lies to Diana.

It sometimes feels that Harry doesn't care who he hurts, whilst claiming to be the most wounded of them all.

Meghan and Harry could have been utterly fabulous - and made such a difference on the global stage. But instead they threw it all away, and for what. Total idiots, the pair of them. Given how things are going, I do wonder if they regret it.

Yes he does I think,
but doesn’t spend Xmas with them and is never photographed with them.
