According to my DH it was Charles and Princess Michael.
I thought I read recently that H&M had backtracked and said they DIDNT accuse the RF of racism at all.....

Ponderingwindow · 29/11/2023 22:22

Can someone please explain why just having a conversation about potential skin color is racist?

we had that conversation about our own child and we are both non-Hispanic Caucasian. It’s just that DH and have different skin tones within the range of potential tones so we speculated. We also wondered about eye color, hair color, height, etc. it was all just idle speculation and most importantly a positive way of talking about the baby that would be joining the family because it was talking about the wonderful melding of our two families through a child.

Charlingspont · 29/11/2023 22:24

DH is not white. When I was pregnant, we all wondered what our child would look like. We now compare skin tones with her other mixed race cousins too, and marvel at the randomness of genetics (each child is different!). I am glad my child didn't inherit dh's nose, but sorry they didn't inherit his long legs. Glad they didn't inherit my bunions, and glad they inherited his eyelashes. Am I racist for this?

Josette77 · 29/11/2023 22:24

I don't believe for a second that Kate said something racist.

Someone clearly has it out for Kate...

Actually it seems a few people have it out for Kate.

Harry seems to have his own issue with her as well. My own theory is he had a crush on her, and hoped to find a similar wife. That hasn't really worked out.

Helloooo they are all racist. Everyone knows that!

Yes it's really not a stretch to assume that most "old money" white families have an ingrained and underlying streak of racism. How can they not when their entire wealth was built upon colonialism, slavery and whatnot.

However I would also be quite surprised to think that the youngest generation who grew up in the 90s-2000s and educated at multi-cultural, liberal universities are genuinely racist in a malicious, hateful and historical way. I find it hard to believe that Kate is deeply racist in the same way that minor Royal (Lady something) who wore that brooch to a meal with Meghan is. Yet now she'll just be known as the royal racist and nobody even knows what transpired or in what context.

Gracekellyandme · 29/11/2023 22:26

Didn’t Meghan specifically backtrack and deny that anyone in the RF had been racist in their Netflix documentary?

…despite accepting an award the month before for challenging racism in the RF.

..and crying on Oprah about it.

.. and now the names (that M&H said they would never name) have just happened to leak out ever so accidentally on purpose.

Harry said not racist. Wonder if he knew his wife blabbed (obviously, he does now).

I can imagine she wanted the headlines that this story would bring but he did not want it published as it's his family and the gulf between them is getting ever wider.

Would Meghan tell Scobie to 'accidentally' publish the names in one country? Seems hard to believe but how else could a 'mistake' like this happen?

WhycantIkeepthisbloodyplantalive · 29/11/2023 22:29

I don't understand why they are being portrayed as racists? I believed what was said was wondering what shade of skin Archie would have. That is not racist. It's a perfectly normal family conversation. My ex's parents are Spanish, one is tanned, one is not. My Ex is tanned, we had the same conversation when I was pregnant. I wonder whether baby will be tanned or have my very light skin?..

What I think is awful however, is how Megan markle has painted family members having a normal conversation with their son and brother in law as racist. I think the only thing that has been committed here is slander and that being from MM.

I'm not talking about individuals, I'm talking about their choice to participate in the system they do. Besides the classism, the whole thing is utterly disgusting.

Charlingspont · 29/11/2023 22:30

I suspect the bridesmaids' tights row was the nail.in the coffin for Kate and Meghan. We don't know exactly what happened, but we know from Meghan on Oprah that Kate brought her flowers afterwards and we know from Harry that he came home to find Meghan sobbing on the floor. Not sure if the flowers preceded the sobbing or vice versa.

whynotwhatknot · 29/11/2023 22:30

so ts racist to wonder about a childs colour-id say its curosity

OnWhatGrounds · 29/11/2023 22:30

Time4the · 29/11/2023 22:19

I think Meghan is so insanely jealous of Kate she’d say anything.

Imagine in reality, Meghan being jealous of Kate. With what motive and why? Doesn't add up and just another ploy to demonize and divide. They are both gorgeous women with a lot of power and influence.

TroglodytesTroglodytes · 29/11/2023 22:30

Agree that we need to know what was actually said, having a conversation about skin colour doesn’t automatically mean that the conversation was racist. I don’t particularly like Charles but he seemed more than pleased about the marriage, why would he start making an issue out of race down the line. It doesn’t really make sense?

Time4the · 29/11/2023 22:19

Meghan displays a lot of narcissistic traits and jealousy would absolutely fit into there. It's completely irrelevant what the person already has (eg normal people might rationalise she can't be jealous because she's also a stunningly beautiful woman but narc minds simply do not work that way). It seems like their final revenge to paint Kate as a racist in the world press. I have a feeling W&K knew this would all be coming out at some point, hence the extremely strained contact with Harry over the past few years.

allthingsred · 29/11/2023 22:33

Im mixed & partner white.
We often had discussions about what our kids would look like.
Its natural curiosity, not rascism.

Blinky21 · 29/11/2023 22:34

There's a proud history of racism in our Royal Family

GrazingSheep · 29/11/2023 22:35

The late Prince Philip right up there.

Plenty of things there. Despite being the same age, Kate was already a mother of 3 while Meghan had MH issues during (and possibly after) her first baby. Kate also has that effortless sense of "belonging" as she grew up in the UK and they almost certainly have a tight network of friends, family and relatives. She's the future queen, mother of the future King. That alone would drive a narcissist insane.

Choux · 29/11/2023 22:36

But the thing with hereditary monarchy is that one son's star ascends and the wife becomes Princess of Wales and then Queen. And the second son's star slowly fades in brightness and the wife remains a Duchess and is eventually eclipsed by the first son's children as they become the next heir and spares.

But am sure Meghan isn't bothered by that because as she said 'service is universal'.
