Omid Scobie's new book

Heads up, Omid is back on the PR trail...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/royals/harry-meghan-author-omid-scobie-31362434

BTW, can anyone explain why he's Harper's Royal reporter when he only seems to have access to or report on Harry and Meghan? It's a bit strange.

Harry and Meghan's biographer calls King Charles 'unpopular' in scathing jibe

Omid Scobie's new 'explosive' book Endgame will be published on November 28 - and its description on Amazon says the author investigates the current state of the British monarchy

Apologies @Bookworm1111 I misunderstood.

No apology needed! x

Though very possibly made up, this bit was especially ridiculous:
"Princess Eugenie reached out to Harry to see if he had any more information about their grandmother. She had heard from another family member that it was “time” but knew little more"

Why on earth would Eugenie call someone she knew was being kept at arms' length when she could ask her father or one of the other closer family instead?

If it’s anything like most families, she was calling out of kindness to check on Harry but then had to pretend she had no information when he started asking questions. She’s likely walking a line between caring about her cousin and knowing his behaviour is not entirely normal.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 26/11/2023 10:30

@Puzzledandpissedoff yes, her father who was sitting on the bloody plane with William and no doubt getting all the latest updates!

Although, Eugenie is a funny one. She's part of the Soho House/Markus Anderson set. It would not surprise me at all if that one has loose lips.

She's also a good friend of Piers Morgan.

Oh that’s pretty funny. Clearly she’s in cahoots with him, right? You don’t hear anyone banging on about that here like they do with Camilla attending a luncheon.

Piers Morgan and his wife are good friends with the York family. There was a recent photograph of Morgan warmly embracing Beatrice and Eugenie outside a restaurant in London.

themessygarden · 26/11/2023 10:41

Interesting, as my dad would say 'runs with the hares and hunts with the hounds'.

Now that's exactly the phrase I heard about Eugenie...

HMQ had 6 grandchildren who didn't travel up to Scotland that day, and by all accounts she was very close to them all. Why on earth would Meghan's attendance be of more importance than any of them? It's as though OS thinks only in terms of Meghan. Did he mention why Beatrice didn't go? Or Peter? Zara? Or are we just supposed to be concerned about Meghan's feelings and not the royal family's. Royal reporter my arse.

Whoever is behind this book is very jealous of Kate.

AliceOlive · 26/11/2023 10:45

That fits right in with her calling Harry but not giving him any info.

“Oh I don’t know anything, I was hoping you might know what’s happening.” Yeah, right.

The RF knew H&M were passing info along to OS and didn’t want him tweeting out an announcement that HMQ had passed before it was announced officially. And he absolutely would have.

JSMill · 26/11/2023 10:45

@AliceOlive exactly! As if anyone in the public cared as they were focusing on the passing of our longest serving monarch and a much loved queen. H was not even a spare any more and M had been in the family for five minutes and walked away from it.

Serenster · 26/11/2023 10:56

This is also from Endgame (as reported in Page Six in the US):

“The message among the family about Harry was he is not to be trusted until they see what is in the book [Spare] and what he says while promoting it. They all took that seriously,” a source told Scobie.

I think Omid expects us to think that’s an unreasonable response?

It really made them both look like complete rookies. Great example of Harry having walked away from the infrastructure that made him appear to be an adult and of MM thinking she knows everything and therefore does not ever need anyone with experience to give advice.

It's all part and parcel of Harry's belief that he was her favourite. Not the Olympian or her brother who don't seem to have caused the Queen any headaches, not the heir who seems to just get on with doing his duty without a fuss with his quiet, loyal wife, not the two daughters of her favourite son, not the 2 children of Edward and her beloved Sophie. Nope, the one that takes the drugs, hellraises at school, wears the Nazi uniform, calls soldiers in HM forces racist names, marries a woman who mocks her in a documentary and throws shit at the RF while her beloved Philip is dying, and doesn't bother visiting her when she is alive. No, he is the favourite, and therefore his wife must be given equal treatment, even though she hasn't earned it, not even remotely.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/11/2023 10:58

You are private citizens now. You don’t need a press office announcing your moves as if you were Prince Charles. Who else in the family made an announcement like that?

Well, the media rattled on about how Charles and Anne were already up there/who was on the way and so on, but as you say H&M are no longer working royals so why not just sort it out among themselves without this constant wish for attention

Fortunately they've gone much quieter now, and it's hardly their fault if the repulsive Scobie wants to flog a few more of his fantasties ... or is it?
Unless proved it's really not easy to work out what's been fed to him and what's come from his febrile imagination

Absolutely. But look at what he does for a living.

Nah. They live under a microscope. Harry got married and suddenly private moments were being made public. H&M were found in court to have collaborated with Scobie.

W&K will know exactly whether it’s made up or not. And they will know it was H&M feeding Scobie every bit.

I can’t imagine the absolute betrayal William especially feels after growing up being chased by the gossip rags.

Anyway, Omid was proven to be H&M’s dog repeatedly (FF, HMQ’s death, The car chase). Even if he’s off their leash now, it really doesn’t absolve them.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/11/2023 11:18

Completely agree, @AliceOlive, especially about the lies/collaboration which have already been proved; as they say, if you lie down with dogs you risk getting fleas

It's just that - though it's admittedly pedantic - I try not to assume too much about what's happened this time on the basis of what's gone before, even though what's already gone down proves them all to be liars

AliceOlive · 26/11/2023 11:23

I think you are wise. I try to do that in my own life.

They may have stopped recently but it is clear they were communicating with him at the time.

Would an apology even help if they were capable of it? I would never be able to trust them again if I were W or K, though.

Never a truer word said.

cheezncrackers · 26/11/2023 11:28

What fascinates me about Omid Scobie is how he looks more and more like a late-life Michael Jackson with each passing year. He's got that very pale, waxy, nose job and tattooed eyebrow look about him. It's very bizarre. Once upon a time he looked quite normal and much darker skinned. This isn't even an up-to-date photo above - he looks far scarier now - but it shows the drastic change.

Like PP said, the fact that the only thing OS can say about the very short ride car ride is that no one said anything, proves the point that keeping schtum is the best thing that the RF can do. If anything had been said in that car, it would now be gracing the pages of this latest book.

Very true! Also what were they expecting? Chit chat? Hi! How are you! How are the kids? What have you been up to?
journey ends and they all get out of car

I guess Kate could have mentioned the weather ( usual Brit go to if wanting to pass 30 seconds) but then omid would be calling her weird and cold if she had said Hi! Weather looking like it might rain! But at least not windy eh Meg! Journey ends and they get out of car

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/11/2023 11:34

Would an apology even help if they were capable of it?

Seems a bit of a moot point TBH. To issue an apology would involve accepting they've made mistakes - as we all do - and introspection doesn't appear to be their strong suit

Herein is the important wider point about the purpose of Scobie's book. He can profess all he likes that it is a book about the entire RF, but it simply isn't. Because the RF consists of more than the 6 people he is focussing on, and the 2 whose point of view is the only one. It is clearly a book of wish fulfilment, that if only nasty William and boring thicko Kate weren't around, then "man on a mission" Harry and his oh so talented (if you want to talk about low bar) wife would be the people to step into the roles and save it from its inevitable doom.

Absolutely anything said in that car would have been twisted and given the worst possible, bad faith interpretation.

i wonder if Harry foolishly thinks one day he will reconcile with William because they are brothers after all and all that history between them. Sometimes I think emotionally unintelligent people don’t realise that once someone marries and has children the sibling or parent relationship slips to the bottom of the rankings. You see it all the time on here, tantrumming parents, in-laws and siblings. They’ve gone after Kate repeatedly now and to a lesser extent William’s children. This is impossible to forgive.

As for H & M expecting to fly to Balmoral to be with QE, I cannot fathom how they ever thought this should happen for them. And it honestly makes me wonder if they’re both just quite stupid and completely unaware of how their behaviour impacts on those around them.
