Omid Scobie's new book

1000 replies

boxedandribboned · 04/11/2023 20:38

Heads up, Omid is back on the PR trail...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/royals/harry-meghan-author-omid-scobie-31362434

BTW, can anyone explain why he's Harper's Royal reporter when he only seems to have access to or report on Harry and Meghan? It's a bit strange.

Harry and Meghan's biographer calls King Charles 'unpopular' in scathing jibe

Omid Scobie's new 'explosive' book Endgame will be published on November 28 - and its description on Amazon says the author investigates the current state of the British monarchy

Please don't say this to me to stop. I said we cross posted. I've seen your post 5 hours later and I have now seen your apology about it so we are all caught up. I'm not on here 24/7.

Edited

Yes. I did say it was crossed wires. Yes, we are caught up.

Samcro · 22/11/2023 18:24

@Roussette think of it this way, if people are bashing you about a mistake you apologised for. Well at least they are giving H&M a break. Maybe you should no and be reborn😀

Roussette · 22/11/2023 18:27

@parksandrecs

OK. I will give my opinion. And no one should blame me because the thread has been derailed, but you are obviously desperate to know.

Money. She came back to live with PA because of money. After years of living in the US.. on the circuit over there, being back on the edges of the RF and able to live on a Royal estate was more lucrative and appealed more to her than independence. This is just my opinion.

OK? No racism there. I hope I have clarified for you now.

parksandrecs · 22/11/2023 18:28

Many thanks! I agree

Roussette · 22/11/2023 18:28

Phew! Grin

mrsmingleton · 22/11/2023 18:31

@Roussette root canals can be painless and also be performed by extremely handsome men. If you ever need a recommendation in the Surrey area let me know 😃

Hahaha... I will say... I bet my dentist is more handsome than yours! He is just lovely. What a shame he has to cope with my teeth! (I had two out 2 weeks ago... arghhhhhhh)

mrsmingleton · 22/11/2023 18:44

😂

parksandrecs · 22/11/2023 18:48

My mum goes on about how handsome ('dishy'!) her dentist is... I have to go NHS and can't afford him!

Iwantcakeeveryday · 22/11/2023 18:53

mrsmingleton · 22/11/2023 18:15

Cross post there ! @Roussette you always use this phrase though "let's drop it" when you have cocked up or can't answer something ....but yes let's do 😂For one minute I thought there was a feature like in Whatsapp that let me know when people read posts but there isn't

Excuse me, you are the one who is in the wrong! You can't rehash things said much earlier without reading follow-up posts. It makes your post to @Roussette invalid. She did apologise and correct, there was a bit of back and forth about it. Its rude to raise it again and then take offence at @Roussette pointing out her follow up posts.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 22/11/2023 18:55

parksandrecs · 22/11/2023 18:16

all any of us have to go on is what people post here.

You made it clear you were implying something you weren't stating.

I tried to fill in the gap you made clear existed. My guess might have been wrong, but I wouldn't have made a guess if you hadn't clearly indicated that you were implying something unsaid.

Happy to know the subtext wasn't racism

she didn't make implications at all though, its you that decided to use the very serious issue of racism, plucked from thin air. You can't imagine something terrible and then expect an apology or explanation for something that never happened.

AliceOlive · 22/11/2023 18:57

Roussette · 22/11/2023 17:49

Absolutely not

That is not what I meant at all. No idea how you managed to deduce that from my post.

Please don't assume something I have not said or even implied. Thank you.

No, I didn't take it that way.

AliceOlive · 22/11/2023 18:59

It was about SF - It's not even worth discussing.

Does anyone at all care to try and get back on track and discuss absolutely any other aspect of this book than:

Harry vs. Sarah
Harry vs. Andrew

and without personal attacks on one another?

Are any chapters even released?

Roussette · 22/11/2023 19:01

and without personal attacks on one another?

I'm fed up with my posts being held up to forensic scrutiny so I'd welcome that I can tell you!

pilates · 22/11/2023 19:07

@Iwantcakeeveryday I think they have moved on. Not sure why you’re rehashing.

AliceOlive · 22/11/2023 19:14

I’d love to chat about this nonsense without reading all the insults and tsking and “clearly your values…” blah blah blah.

It won’t happen.

LadyMuckingabout · 22/11/2023 19:15

@roussette (sorry to at you but wanted to attract your attention!) do you think that M&H (well, particularly H) will follow Sarah Ferguson’s “lead” and if they struggle financially will seek to find a bolthole on a royal estate? I know Harry obviously has a lot more money than SF ever had, but his and M’s tastes are extravagant, and unless Meghan comes up trumps with some of her producing endeavours, they’re going to be a bit strapped. (As I could dream of being that strapped!).

parksandrecs · 22/11/2023 19:26

Iwantcakeeveryday · 22/11/2023 18:55

You are absolutely right. I misread the post, and as the H&M supporters are so quick to claim 'racism' I assumed wrongly that this was the same implication. My bad (as teenage DD would say!).

Roussette · 22/11/2023 19:32

Interesting question @LadyMuckingabout

Just my opinion but I don't think for one minute they will come back to a Royal Estate here. Not for one minute.

What circumstances could they come back in? There aren't any AFAIC. As far as SF.. she was not given as much as she wanted or needed in the divorce settlement, she had hugely extravagent tastes and was bordering on bankruptcy more than once. So she came back. (just my opinion!)

As time rolls by and their life in the US becomes more firmly established, it would be a huge wrench to move children back here. There would be no role for them that I could see. And the media would go wild and who would want to live with that hanging over them day in day out? It's bad enough when they live thousands of miles away.
I think Harry has been a square peg in a round hole and not happy within the RF for a long time, then along comes Meghan and there was a reason to make the break.
Who knows on their finances, that's up to them isn't it...
So - to me - bottom line, can't see it, no.

Thanks for the question, I like discussion!

How to explain as if it is any of your business I had not read Rousette's apology before I wrote my post. I will read posts in the way I want and respond to them in that way thanks very much. No need for you to involve yourself. As. pilates said things have moved on or do you not like that?

LadyMuckingabout · 22/11/2023 20:06

So do I! I think Harry is still a square peg. I really don’t think he saw Hollywood as his escape route. I really believe he wanted to live a White Mischief life somewhere in Africa. I understand it still goes on, under the radar of mere mortals. Meghan obviously had no intention of going along with this set-up (and I don’t blame her!).

CathyorClaire · 22/11/2023 20:26

Money. She came back to live with PA because of money.

Catching up and this is exactly what I thought you meant, Roussette.

I entirely agree.

FTR I also agree with Serenster (for once 😉) when she says:

I think most people probably know who “Prince Harry” is. So I don’t think he needed to use his Duke of Sussex title and royal monogram with the gold coronet on the big screen at the arena.

It's quite telling that Harold wasn't bothered about his 'status' back in the day when he thought the megabucks were going to come rolling in as indeed they did. If anything he downplayed it (JCMH).

Resorting to royal bling just as they all do but with even less reason looks a bit crass.

so you can call out @Roussette for her posts repeatedly, even after she explained to you, but nobody can challenge you on that?
Its very ironic for @pilates to tell me not to rehash when in fact they also stuck their oar in! If things have moved on, why reply?

You couldn't see things had moved on ? Roussette is perfectly competent in conducting a discussion with other people without your input. I really can't understand why you brought it up again when it was all settled? I replied to you because you stuck your oar in when it had nothing to do with you. 😂

Roussette · 22/11/2023 20:49

To be honest, I appreciate the support, and I won't pretend otherwise. But I don't want others got at for lending me said support.

Anyway... let's move on. I might be competent when defending myself but when I have actually apologised immediately for saying something that others say all the time, it's a bit galling to be pulled up on it.

But it's over, I stood my ground, end of.
