Omid Scobie's new book

1000 replies

boxedandribboned · 04/11/2023 20:38

Heads up, Omid is back on the PR trail...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/royals/harry-meghan-author-omid-scobie-31362434

BTW, can anyone explain why he's Harper's Royal reporter when he only seems to have access to or report on Harry and Meghan? It's a bit strange.

Harry and Meghan's biographer calls King Charles 'unpopular' in scathing jibe

Omid Scobie's new 'explosive' book Endgame will be published on November 28 - and its description on Amazon says the author investigates the current state of the British monarchy

I am interested in H&M, but not as a fan. I have little interest in the rf, save for, as a pp mentioned, glancing at frocks and pageantry.

So I bring clicks to M&H because I want to see what they’re up to next, and because I have, due to them, become curious about all the behind-the-scenes PR dealing and wotnot about which I was previously, if not exactly oblivious, then very much unaware of the extent of it.

Basically Harry cannot possibly carry on being “Prince Harry” and opening things and doing appearances if he is - like some posters claim - getting on with his life in California with ne’er a backward glance at the rf. I would bet my house on the fact that “their people” have told H (if not M) to get back in there so he retains some value.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/11/2023 11:44

The media isn’t making up those silly stories (birthday, Christmas invite) designed to reinforce them in the public eye as royal-adjacent - they are

Why not both? After all we know H&M, the media and the rest of the RF make up whatever they want when it suits

Come to that the same applies to Scobie and the "did H&M tell him or did he make it up". It's already been proved they lie about supplying him with information, but it doesn't follow that he won't also lie off his own bat

H and M bring more traffic to news sites than any other couple. Twice as much as Beyonce and JayZ; who bring more than Kate and William. It’s about money . They are profitable for the media:

Every medium of news in US is covered in Taylor Swift and her football player for months now. To the point where even my 80+ year old Dad is asking why he needs to know these people.

Source? I used to click on stories about them out of curiosity, but I no longer do. I now find them pretty dull. Actually I rarely read articles about any royals - I skim read them at most. I do look at pictures as I like to see what Kate in particular is wearing.

I think the days of H&M generating a buzz of interest have passed.

Yet here you are buzzing and posting 🤔🤔😂

What do you want him to do? What do you actually want him to do? Publicly denounce his father, the King of England, and pretend he isn't a Prince?

When asked once what a person should call him... he said 'Just call me Harry'. He had the piss totally taken out of him on here... so much so, posters were changing their names to variations of JCMH! So what do you want? However he styles himself in the US he will be called Prince Harry anyway so what's the point of making a public statement for which he will be ripped to shreds?

p.s. Who is 'their' people?

It would be lovely if the two of them just got proper jobs and shut up. No more pseudo Royal ‘appearances’ or statements by ‘friends’ or ghost written books. Just peace and quiet. Why can’t they just enjoy their very fortunate lives and children without giving statements, trying to behave like they are still working Royals etc . Sick of the sight of them.

By my thinking, the title goes with the role & responsibilities. If you aren't performing the role - and move away to live in a republic - it seems a bit gauche to still go around using titles.

Jamie Lee Curtis has never used hers, it's a much classier look IMO

So... no philianthropy, no highlighting causes, no empowering women (for which Meghan has had a long time being successful at), nothing like that... just become a Marketing Exec of an Ad Agency or something and expect the media to leave you alone!

If you are sick of the sight of them, why are you here posting? Seriously! There are a couple of celebs/famous people I really don't like... if I see a thread on them I actively avoid it, if I see media or pop ups on feeds, I purposely avoid reading it, if a picture pops up, I close down the tab straightaway... so those people I am not keen on, do not enter my brain! I just don't understand why you would make a point of coming on a thread of people you are sick of!!

Do you imagine the USA would never call him Prince Harry? Wouldn't happen! I hope he carries on using it. His father is King of England, that won't ever change. Why shouldn't he

I think what they’ve been doing lately is so much better than prior years. Even if they are staging paparazzi or having friends put little comments out about them, it’s been either mundane (went to a ballgame or concert) or positive (cutting a ribbon somewhere or whatever).

It’s fine. I never thought he should drop his title. It’s been his title all of his life. I thought referring to his children with titles was silly but not offensive.

I don’t know what anyone born into royalty should do with themselves. They didn’t ask for it. Sarah doesn’t bother me either. What’s she supposed to do? Who cares. Their options are limited.

King of United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland!

Edited

But why do people use this term. A serious question

AliceOlive · 22/11/2023 13:02

“The USA” mostly doesn’t call him anything. People in everyday life never mention him. Which is a shame because I’d rather talk about that than sports.

@derxa habit and ignorance. Please don;t have a go at me about it because I know how much it means to you and I just made a mistake typing quickly and not thinking.

What year did the title “King of England” cease to exist?

Serenster · 22/11/2023 13:06

1707 with the Act of Union, AliceOlive.
