Buckingham Palace denies claims Charles ‘might offer Harry a royal home’ in UK

This story is curious. There are versions in the Telegraph, Daily Mail and Times as well. With Buckingham Palace emphatically denying it - Harry seems the likely source. Is he trying to force the RF to give him a permanent home in the UK?

Ordinarily, it would seem a reasonable enough thing to expect, but of course, things are no longer 'normal'. After Harry's disloyalty to both the family and the institution, it is a bit cheeky to expect to be given free home on royal property?

No idea what actually happened

nobody here does, but there will still be a whole long thread dedicated to discussing what an entitled brat he is which is why this story was planted.

As you were.

He has done nothing but moan about the royals and their way of life and flounced off in a huff to the USA. But now expects to be welcomed back into the fold whenever he deigns to drop by. Bit cheeky and entitled.

boxedandribboned · 26/09/2023 09:38

The story was reported by very credible journalists. It is a bit amusing that some of the same posters who get their information from the likes of Celebitchy are so quick to say that news reports are made up if they put Harry in a bad light.

Personally, I still think Harry himself is behind the story. I think he genuinely believes that not being allowed to stay at Windsor, or to have a permanent home on a royal estate, are shockingly unfair developments that will make people feel sorry for him.

No, it really wasn’t.

Of course. He’s leaking and briefing to the newspapers that he’s suing and openly despises. Makes perfect sense.

Except, he never said that. It doesn’t matter how many times you say that he did, it simply doesn’t make it true.

Don't be silly, he's well known for talking to The Telegraph.

2jacqi · 26/09/2023 10:00

Nah! he doesnt deserve free accomodation provided by the royal family!! he and his awful wife threw them under the bus!! For one night he can pay to stay in a hotel or he can buy an apartment where he wants. He is just thinking of himself again and wanting free security because he knows it is expensive, having to pay for it in USA!!! dont even know why he thinks he needs it! He should be removed from the list of counsellors of state!! He is very seldom in UK! No one can be bothered with their entitlement!! it is all me me me with him and meghan!! pair of chancers! mcdonalds are looking for staff!!

Samcro · 26/09/2023 10:03

well even if its not true, why shouldn't his very rich dad, who has loads of properties ear mark one for his own son.
its all a non story most likely made up to throw Harry under the bus again

MissElinorDashwood · 26/09/2023 10:03

@boxedandribboned

FYI I’d never heard of Celebitchy until yesterday.
Another assumption.

It always amazes me how everyone keeps going on about Harry & Megan...it's a shame they are not concerned with what Andrew did.

Wouldn't that be nice! But there is either total fury or accusations of whataboutery if anyone dares to bring him up!

This story isn’t the win some people think it is.
It makes Charles look petty and vindictive. It portrays him as the cruel and uncaring father that he is. It’s quite clear he doesn’t like his son, daughter in law and grandchildren.
The royals and their minions are shooting themselves in the foot, and they can’t even see it.

I say leave them to it. The tone and nastiness of some of these messages reflect poorly on the royals. This is what they created. Let them take ownership of it.

It really didn’t have to be this way.

It may come as a surprise but a lot of people don't share your viewpoint. More and more as time goes on.

I’m sure that wouldn’t be a problem if the Sussexes were actually going to use a property that was put aside for them. But the same issues would still apply, notice would have to be given to prepare the property for their arrival. Nowhere has it been said that Harry couldn’t have stayed at Windsor, just that he needed to give notice. It’s probably not as simple as having a spare room in your own house ready for guests as pp have alluded to up thread.

I'd agree with that. Harry supposedly wanted 'free' life away from the constraints of the RF, he could easily have had that, and retained his family connections. Instead, he embarked upon a pretty unseemly publicity campaign, which was designed to embarrass his closest relatives - presumably hoping to drag them down to his level.

They haven't fought back, they have certainly risen above the nastiness, but no-one can blame them for keeping H at arm's length in the future.

As said, they'll make arrangements for him to visit if given plenty of notice but his close family members are unlikely to ever trust him again, and many in the extended family will probably avoid him, if possible. I have an unpleasant family member myself so I can imagine how they feel.

If you are concerned start a thread. Andrew mostly keeps a low profile. If he is spotted out and about it's usually in the news. At least in the DM.

LadyMuckingabout · 26/09/2023 11:35

I have from an impeccable source that upon his marriage Harry asked for Windsor Castle. All Windsor Castle. I guess the idea was a sort of dual court (or maybe a duel court…). Anyway, that was given short shrift.

I think a most acceptable solution is to say, yes, you can stay in an apartment if you give us notice (for security/staff) but no permanent roost. As others have said, he could buy a place easily.

Why can't his very rich and very successful son, who made a lot of money from his best selling book (fastest selling of all time), buy himself a crash pad in London to use on his visits? I thought Harry wanted his independence from the binds of royal life. We are constantly being told he is thriving, that his life and destiny is in the US, so why does he need to hang onto his family's coat tails for a one night stay in the UK? He should have more self respect. He doesn't need them.

😂
'scuse me if I take that with a lorry load pinch of salt!

On here we have had Meghan's nanny, a friend of Doria, and many posters close rellies who have worked at BP, Windsor castle, Kensington Palace, oh and M's hairdresser!

So much so, I am perplexed as to why MN doesn't have a Royal Warrant. A lot of the staff are connected to posters on here after all !

Roussette · 26/09/2023 11:46

Oh, and someone's Aunt overheard a conversation between Meghan and Harry at Windsor Castle!

You couldn't make it up! Well you could actually 😜
