Buckingham Palace denies claims Charles ‘might offer Harry a royal home’ in UK

This story is curious. There are versions in the Telegraph, Daily Mail and Times as well. With Buckingham Palace emphatically denying it - Harry seems the likely source. Is he trying to force the RF to give him a permanent home in the UK?

Ordinarily, it would seem a reasonable enough thing to expect, but of course, things are no longer 'normal'. After Harry's disloyalty to both the family and the institution, it is a bit cheeky to expect to be given free home on royal property?

I must say I thought It was a bit of a dump considering what grand residences royal usually live in.

but didn't William and Kate live in Nottingham Cottage until after George was born? And then in a smallish house in Wales for a couple of years after that?

Yes. They didn’t move into the large Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace until well after George was born.

Besides since they left, the leaks about Harry and Meghan's movements in the British press have come to a dead halt. Whereas before, everything they did and every private conversation they had would be leaked.

But gosh, now Meghan can’t go to the dentist, the Farmer’s Market, the drive through, the airport, shopping etc without a canny papparrazzi spotting her leaving her house and photographing her. And her “friends” are constantly talking about her plans. What is the common denominator, I wonder…?

Don’t forget the “ hike” and carrying Archie from school

I have from an impeccable source that Harry demanded to be given the whole of Bedfordshire, plus the whole of Devon but on weekends only. This would legally have obligated anyone residing in Bedfordshire to provide him with room and board when requested, and they also would legally have had to wear t-shirts with his and Meghan's faces on them, and make any dog larger than 10kg available for Archie to practice Baby Polo.

He also demanded to be referred to as His Supreme Gingery Hotness at all times.

I know, because of my sources.

(The irony is I actually worked at the Natural History Museum, which Kate is Patron of, for eight years, and have met and had conversations with her half a dozen times. Knowing royals isn't really a big deal if you live in the UK.)

Thank you for the laughs today!

PreetyinPurple · 26/09/2023 13:53

I think most people would think it was a waste of money. Clearly a lot of time and money would be spent altering whatever residence they were given. How often would they stay, one or two nights a year. Would staff/security need to be on call all year in case they feel like turning up on a whim.

DH has a sibling who constantly wants to be a victim. One of his favourite things to do is to try and cause grief for others, waste their time, waste their money. It’s a form of control.

Yes, I wonder indeed.

Because if you're a pap, and you know that any decent pic of Meghan can earn you $100'000, what do you do? Sit around twiddling your thumbs waiting until her reps call you to tell you exactly where she is, or stalk the places you know she frequents 24/7 in the hope of getting a pic?

If you haven't watched Black Mirror S6E4 Mazey Day you should, it might give you a reality check as to how the world of paps works.

And you can relax, Meghan is one of the most talked/written/vlogged etc about women on the planet. You can tell how pathetically desperate she is for MORE attention by all the pics she posts EVERY SINGLE WEEK on her Instagram, blogs etc, including pics of her kids, her home etc.

So please do go ahead insinuating that Meghan is desperate for attention!

I have from an impeccable source that Meghan demanded that the script for the pilot episode of Suits replace Macbeth as the standard GCSE English set text.

Royal aides declined to comment but told the Daily Mail off the record, "doesn't that sound exactly like something she'd do?"

Hilarious!

Did you hear the one about Meghan having a carbon footprint of well over 16 tons of CO2 per year - driving up global warming single-handedly, the selfish self-absorbed b*tch!

@CoughingMajoress
”I mean Will and Kate recently advertised for a household CEO (which is supposedly unprecedented in terms of royal protocol) and the job ad revealed that they have more than 60 household staff just in one of their homes”

More than 60 staff in just one of their homes? ? I thought it was 60 in total?
Which is utterly ridiculous for these two who do nothing but photo ops and holidays .
The NHS is being destroyed, there is no money to pay consultants what they deserve and these ‘royal’ parasites are laughing at us

I think the term “Household” has been confused with “house” here. A google search shows they have 60 staff working for Kensington Palace, which is their arm of the RF. Not 60 in one house. So yes 60 in total

Novella4 · 26/09/2023 14:38

Be interesting to know what your comparator is for saying a staff of 60 is excessive. Because I’m sure you must have one, rather than just saying it’s ridiculous on no basis whatsoever.

LadyMuckingabout · 26/09/2023 15:09

Ah, @MissElinorDashwood , I seem to remember saying that Netflix paid for Meghan’s last Invictus wardrobe, not this year’s, and not all her clothes.

My “impeccable source” was quite good. Not royal, but on the legal side of things. I know no royals; I don’t think I’ve even glimpsed one. Don’t know any royal hairdressers, cleaners, footmen…

Novella4 · 26/09/2023 15:17

60 staff for KP .
Hmm. And a CEO needed …
Because it’s big business ripping off the taxpayer .
What is my comparator ? Well that the sort of question you ask under FOI isn’t it?
But oh wait ! The ‘royals’ have excluded themselves from the FOI Act !
Silly me

Serenster · 26/09/2023 15:27

No, it’s the sort of comparable organisation you must have had in mind, undertaking a similar breadth of scope and activities, before declaring that 60 staff was ridiculous. Because otherwise it looks like your statement is coming straight from bias and ignorance.

But cheers on shoehorning in a completely irrelevant topic just to get another perceived jab in, you must have enjoyed that😀

CoughingMajoress · 26/09/2023 12:22

It's really hard to tell anything for sure about royals because so much is PR smoke and mirrors.

I mean Will and Kate recently advertised for a household CEO (which is supposedly unprecedented in terms of royal protocol) and the job ad revealed that they have more than 60 household staff just in one of their homes. Yet their addition of a new house in Windsor was trumpeted in the press as an example of how modest and humble they are because it doesn't have room for live-in staff (because it actually is so big it has separate staff quarters).

They have multiple homes, their apartment in KP is what most people would consider a vast mansion, some of the stuff around their Norfolk mansion is eye-watering (redoing the kitchen three times at vast expense, moving the tennis court a bit to the left).

Meanwhile the tabloids were making up stuff about Frogmore having gold bathtubs and yoga studios and acting outraged that it costs money to remove asbestos and install proper plumbing, when H&M paid for that themselves.

The royals have a very good and longrunning PR campaign aimed at portraying themselves as humble and down to earth unless they want to throw someone under a bus, then that person will suddenly have loads of articles about them spending. They did it to Margaret a lot, they've done it to Kate before, they did it to Meghan. In truth they all spend money like water. Why would anyone believe or expect that royals would be modest and humble?

Could you give a couple of examples of what "they did to Margaret a lot". How did they throw her under a bus? Was it about her spending?

Serenster · 26/09/2023 15:43

Anyway, I don’t think William and Kate really want a CEO. I think they want a good COO. But you need to dangle an attractive job title to get the best candidates…

Failing to provide a safe place to stay for Prince Archie and Princess Lili should they visit the UK...

This story isn't going to go down well... for King Charles and the Palace

They're perfectly capable of finding a safe temporary home, it doesn't have to be "provided" for them.

The media is clueless about's really happening behind closed doors and dependant on the eavesdropping by those not really in the right circles and who don't know the full story.

It is far from irrelevant to point out yet again how many laws that the ‘royals’ have made sure to exclude themselves from
The freedom of information Act being one of the most egregious examples .
The ‘royals’ must operate in secrecy as they rip off the country and use their busy PR operation to keep some fools supportive

Actually come to think of it it probably is 75% PR staff - they are certainly in overdrive these days .
It’s not working because that sort of ‘here’s the line ‘ PR is old hat .

We can see for ourselves that W and K and the rest of them do as little as possible . Phone calls recoded as an ‘engagement ‘ - who buys this nonsense?
Even the queen called them the Doolittles’

They are not the only body performing a state function that’s exempt from FOIA. There are lots of them. And if you ask a question under FOI that relates to personal information, about no matter whom, there is an exemption from answering it.

I don’t believe that at all… the idea the Queen was impeccably discreet about all people all her life except for the one person they have taken against lol

I guess if we believe the Queen called them the Dolittles we also have to believe the Queen said Meghan was evil?

Personally I don't believe either of those but if those are now the rules!

And a staff of 60 for the Household of the PPOW is kind of what I was expecting tbh.

colourwheelofortune · 26/09/2023 21:09

Its quite obvious Harry gave this story to the press in an attempt again to highlight his 'victim' status.

Personally if I had family that moved abroad and had their own home and plenty of money, then proceeded to slag me and my family off for 3 years, they could sod off when it comes to staying with me.

Nagging his dad endlessly for a handout while negotiating to sell out the entire family for money, lying and supporting his wife's lies all the while? Doing all this while his grandmother was sick and his grandfather dying? There couldn't be a big enough fuck off on this planet to give to him.
