EnoughIsay · 24/09/2023 16:05

Is that true?

Is it possible that the climate change King flew his car to Paris?

Please tell me it is not true.

I haven’t heard this story

but my instinct is - no bloody way would he have done this. He’s undeniably genuine in his passion and concern for the environment

Iwillpassthanks · 24/09/2023 16:07

What is your source?

nancy75 · 24/09/2023 16:09

Surely they’d have put it on the the shuttle - I’m sure they have chauffeurs for that kind of thing

SausageinaBun · 24/09/2023 16:09

It's quite easy to get a car to Paris without flying it.

Iwillpassthanks · 24/09/2023 16:14

A 10 second google op

However, the State Bentley was not carried on their flight.
HELLO! understands that Bentley transported the car themselves, at the company's own expense.

KateyCuckoo · 24/09/2023 16:16

Ooooh think I've been watching too much Jimmy and Clarence on Instagram as I thought of a different King C!

KnickerlessParsons · 24/09/2023 16:18

The king flew to Paris for security reasons - France is still on their highest alert for terrorism attacks.
That's why he flew to Bordeaux too.

What is your source?

I have seen a few mentions of it on line.

But I cannot find anything definate, do you know what I mean?

I wondered if anyone here would know.

Op it takes seconds to see the detail behind this story

you were stirring

and given you’re all over threads talking about how the royal family are terrible for the environment, it makes sense

In fairness @Iwillpassthanks I don't hide!

For me it less how bad they are for the environment and much more about why are they preaching to us?

Besides anything they leave themsleves totally exposed to critisim. Especially if they are travelling with the Bentley.

Poor attempt at starting a discussion on a belief that you have posted many times about in the past.

Im still curious about where you read this?

Haha, of course he's not.

Remember when he took some crazy number of private jet flights within Europe within the space of like a week or two?

Or when the press found out that he'd taken 40 short private jet or helicopter flights just within the UK in the space of a year?

None of them give a fuck about climate change, it's one rule for us, one rule for everyone else. They all catch private jets and helicopters the way most people catch buses. Will and Kate own their own helicopter and routinely use it to travel very short distances, they all use private jets like crazy.

Iwillpassthanks · 24/09/2023 16:32

Loads and loads of us take flying foreign holidays every year, drive cars etc

But we still care about the environment and climate change

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/09/2023 16:39

He’s undeniably genuine in his passion and concern for the environment

Would that be why he flew private to Davos, then switched to an electric car for his arrival at the event for appearances' sake?
Or why he joined the late Queen in lobbying the Scottish government for an exemption from environmental protection laws?

It's not the private jets I mind - I'd do it myself if I had the money and contacts - but the hypocrisy

Iwillpassthanks · 24/09/2023 16:52

@Puzzledandpissedoff so you never fly and don’t drive?

or you do but you don’t give a flying fig about the environment?

why is it ok for us to still fly and drive but somewhere profoundly wrong for the royal family to?

I fly and drive
I care about the environment

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/09/2023 17:06

It isn't necessarily wrong for the RF to, even though they use private aircraft when there's a feasible, much more environmentally friendly alternative. IMO what makes it wrong is doing this while gabbing on about how we ALL need to protect the planet - in other words, and as said, the hypocrisy

And since you asked, I fly several times a year (commercial, obs!!) but don't have a driving licence due to vision issues

Iwillpassthanks · 24/09/2023 17:13

so if we fly or drive… then we should absolutely shut up about the climate?

This post does not make sense to me.

When they fly they bring a small army with them (and cars it seems) -so it is never a simple flight. You cannot compare to the common man and his/her travel.

And I am pretty sure the French could supply a car. Or the British Embassy.

It is less about a car and more about a window in the the cognitive disonance of this whole Royals and climated nonsense.

Clearly not.

But - if for every flight you take, either 20 minutes to go up the road or an hour to cross the chanel you bring your car by some other meas and at the very least 15 people then you should really not put yourself front and central of climet issues.

King C would be much better talking about climate and agriculture for example.

Not my place to tell others what they should talk about or not, Iwillpassthanks
I don't even think the RF self-styled ecowarriors should shut up about it; it's a free world and if they want to make themselves look ridiculous that's entirely their choice

I choose not to blast on about the climate myself though, partly because I have an open mind on many of the issues, but largely because I'd rather avoid being a total hypocrite

Do you also get your knickers in a twist over the cavalcades that accompany the President of the United States when he travels, or do you just want to have a go at the Royal Family?

The President of the United States is elected and presumeably works hard.

They usually do not have a variey of carbon producing houses, palaces and estates laying around waiting for a vist.

He can implement laws that may hurt or help the environment.

And actually, the President of the Untied Staes does travle with his own car.

It is not a good comparrison.
