They are choosing to use planes and helicopters.

As am I. Doesn’t mean I don’t genuinely care about the climate and environment

Same. Maybe not helicopters 😎 The two things aren't mutually exclusive.

It's the restrictions on what they say as much as what they do. They have to always be mindful what they talk to people about and they mustn't express an opinion!

It must be a sad way to live, with such hatred of the monarchy. The institution does not affect our day-to-day lives in any way. I don't have the energy for hatred. Such a negative emotion.

mayorofcasterbridge · 25/09/2023 16:02

Plus @EnoughIsay we have your "elected representatives" and look at the mess they've got us into!!!

Roussette · 25/09/2023 16:03

Why on earth do you call it hatred?

It's not hatred, it's questioning the status quo which everyone should do.
It does effect us massively if you actually look and question

mayorofcasterbridge · 25/09/2023 16:07

It's coming across loud and clear.

Don't be silly - the RF has zero impact on my life. Or yours for that matter!!

AlexandriasWindmill · 25/09/2023 16:09

How environmentally sound is it to post the exact same points over and over again? And do you think that environmental cost is worth it when you are changing zero minds?

EnoughIsay · 25/09/2023 16:09

Iwillpassthanks · 25/09/2023 15:07

Ah you see I love to cook, I enjoy grocery shopping, I love my job and I don’t regard life as a “daily grind”.

so perhaps that lies at the root of our differing perspectives

Perhaps.

It takes all sorts etc...

The RF are very concerned about climate change despite owning many large houses, flying helicopters and taking private jets.

However the hoi poloi are cool with this and are happy to sacrifice their one holiday flight a year to allow our betters a more comfortable life.

After all, Royal carbon emissions are blue and therefore don’t count anyway.

😀

Carbon output.

Source?

EnoughIsay · 25/09/2023 16:13

I can just about buy the "security", though with its undisclosed nature it makes a handy excuse, but it didn't stop the late Queen using the train every Christmas, and that on a known route/schedule which could easily have increased the risk

Excellent point.

OP posts:
Roussette · 25/09/2023 16:14

No point in explaining why I think that is incorrect with a view like yours that they have no effect on us 😮

Needless to say you don't know me and to talk of hatred in the way you have done is wrong. I just think we could do better.

How many flights a year do you reckon you and your family take Iwillpass?

Do you give big public lectures on climate change?

Source?

I have linked on here the difference between cars and helicopters countless times. Carbon emissions are approx 100 times higher in a helicopter

You do a grave wrong to everyone on this thread by positioning it as hate filled.

It is a reasoned discussion.

I personally wonder why we have a monarchy. Wanting to discuss that view is not anything other than wanting to discuss.

The institution does not affect our day-to-day lives in any way

The institution very much impacts how we live in this country. An entrenched, herditary class system for just the start of it.

You may disagree but you cannot say there is "hate" on this thread.

Precisely! That supports my view off you reread the exchange

Iwillpassthanks · 25/09/2023 16:25

Oh wait you say higher! Missed that.

did you post the source on this thread?

Roussette · 25/09/2023 16:30

No.

I have posted it numerous times on threads recently.

Just Google helicopter Vs car emissions

I'm on a phone not my laptop

Jitterybugs · 25/09/2023 16:32

Whatever the reason for transporting the royal Bentley to France it doesn’t appear to be the necessity to have a bullet proof vehicle. King Charles felt safe enough to travel along the route in an open top car with Macron

@Jitterybugs yes I saw that. The fancy Bentley makes him feel important though - god he’s a pompous arse.

This open-top car with a foreign looking number plate ending in BV - is that the Bentley in question?? I'm not good at car makes. I thought the royal car was numberless.

This country's full of pompous arses who measure their worth by how big their cars are, and park in selfish ways. Some of them don't even know how to use apostrophes.

No that’s a Citroen DS

granof8 · 25/09/2023 17:16

For some overseas trips security on the UK government dictate how things are done. The royals don't always have the choice. He flew because of security, there were concerns about the situation in France. I am sure the Bentley has security features we are unaware of

everetting · 25/09/2023 17:18

The Queen travelled to France by eurostar. Why not Charles and camilla?
The truth is Charles wants us all to change our lifestyle for the environment, but not him.
The Queen, not known as a climate champion travelled in far more environmentally friendly ways than Charles.
