Do we know that Kate and William took 2 separate private jets to France on consecutive days? Are we sure they didn't have a dirty weekend away?

William got pilloried for not flying to Australia for football and now pilloried for flying to France for the rugby. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I've done London to Bordeaux by train, even with the TGV, I would fly instead.

Don't agree. The aides hardly book online without speaking to someone at the airline. If I were in that job I would be checking every minor detail.

Maybe I am speaking in hindsight, don't know. It won't happen again that's for sure.

You’d be checking for something as left field as the plane being changed because it was in the wrong livery? A last minute decision that wasn’t communicated to anyone? Unlikely. I agree you are speaking with hindsight probably 😆

Are you the face of a ££££ million environmental prize?

Ineedwinenow · 16/09/2023 15:24

Apart from moaning about what Catherine wears and how William and Catherine travel has anyone got any updates on the actual reason for the thread? Have the Earthshot nominations been released yet? I’ve been on a few media outlets and can’t see anything yet so just wondering instead of moaning about the royals family, if any of you actually know anymore than I do?

btw I fly all over the world both domestic and international and work in conservation so you can whinge about me like you are doing of those two, in fact I travel far more than they do due to the nature of my work and there is no way I would take the train or bus!

The press release for this week’s summit says they’ll announce the nominees for this year’s prizes there, Ineedwinenow

Thank you! I completely missed the date of the 19th September ( that’s in bold) when I initially read it! Need to get my eyes tested or open more wine! Grin

It is hard to reconcile climate activism with modern transport but apart from Greta everyone involved in the field flies a lot to be able to lobby and push the issue in different parts of the world.

The United Nations built its Environment arm headquarters in Kenya! They did it for political reasons - to get the buy in for African nations to the cause and to show that the United Nations was committed to that part of the world by investing a major headquarters there.

But the consequence is that hundreds if not thousands of their employees have to fly back and forth to home countries and the main heads of departments have to fly constantly because so many important meetings happen in the US and in Europe.

This. You can only really take the most environmentally friendly travel options if time is no object, unfortunately.

Time is no object when you are flying to your weekend home a 3 hour drive away and you are as under employed as William!

If you don’t mind me asking a genuine question which is not related to Earthshot but is related to some scathing posts on here but how do you know they all go every weekend to Amner Hall? I did google your and another posters comments about their regular helicopter commutes but could only find a report from when Charlotte was born that the had driven despite it costing a lot in petrol because of the families car and that of their security details car/cars? As far as I was aware they had move to Adelaide cottage and only went to Norfolk occasionally

Sorry to derail but knowing the Windsor family and Middleton family live fairly close by I genuinely don’t understand the need for weekend helicopter trips to their other home unless it was a holiday?? and as I said above the only commute information I could find online was about them driving around the time of Charlottes birth but if it is regularly discussed and the palace do inform us all about it then maybe they should drive instead of flying 😆

Roussette · 17/09/2023 04:19

"The then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children moved into Anmer Hall in 2015, and used it as their main residence until 2017. It continues to be their private country home, and the family have been reported to spend weekends and school holidays at Anmer"

@Ineedwinenow that's from Wiki and lots of articles say similar. Of course we don't know their movements every weekend but it is their country retreat and they call it a bolt hole.

Angrycat2768 · 17/09/2023 07:36

Many people have anecdotaly reported helicopters constantly buzzing around Royal residences. The only report I heard in the papers ( who do not report everything that happens and IMO do not hold the RF to account-which, surely is their job) is that The Queen told William to curb his helicopter use because it was too much.

I do think the royals should be into recycling clothes more. I know i know princess anne does and kate on occasion but i am talking far far more than they do. And I include Meghan in this. I know she wore something at Invictus a day or so ago that she'd worn at World Kitchen but it's not enough.

For instance Kate has 10 (or is it more?) red coat dresses. WTAF. Camilla s handbag collection is obscene.

There should be some sort of Auction for their clothes and accessories they don't wear again to benefit a suitable charity. Bit like Beatrice did with her pretzel hat

How many handbags does Camilla have? I would love to know.

I really don't want to be accused of derailing the thread but if you google Queen Camilla handbags, there is an article dated 23rd Aug 'Bags of style' listing just some of them, averaging £2-3K each totalling goodness knows what

LastHives · 17/09/2023 07:48

That article is in the Daily Mail though - I thought you couldn't believe what the DM writes?

Why did you ask me about it if you're not actually interested despite saying 'I would love to know', and just want to have a pop at me about the source?

It's believable given there are photos of Camilla with the handbags and the price of them is the RRP, it's hardly an opinion piece is it?

Good. He could've done that to Australia

He flew commercial to the US a couple of days ago.

I should bloody well hope so! He is going to meet environmentalists and conservation leaders, he'd look like the biggest hypocrite ever if he hadn't
And I would've been on this thread saying so

Perhaps he could now look at his very frequent helicopter flights....

Mylovelygreendress · 19/09/2023 11:59

Biggest hypocrite? Sorry, that position has been filled by his brother.

In what context? And what has Harry to do with Earthshot and whether William flew private jet or commercial?
Odd

Hmm, but it was ok for you to drag Andrew into a thread about Thomas Markle and his daughter ?

Very odd .

Roussette · 19/09/2023 12:27

I was in context when talking about whether the Queen was upset by any of her family. It was an ongoing conversation

Just a boring out of context poke at Harry at every opportunity by you though 🥱 🙄

I'll leave you to that, no point in me commenting any further.

How do you know I am not actually interested? I was but I was also amazed to see you refer to an article by the DM. As usual though it's OK when some people use it but not when others.

If someone says they would love to know more to a poster and that poster tells them where to find out more, in my world I would say "thanks"
Not sneering at the info source which is a factual piece not an opinion piece

Hope you enjoyed reading about the handbags

CathyorClaire · 19/09/2023 16:33

Anyone got any idea what the costs of Earthshot might be this year or what they were last year?

Last time the accounts were published Willy had spent over £12m to dish out £5m in prizes.

AFAICS he's claiming costs will be less now but as we've got to wait a while for both sets of accounts thanks to the split from the umbrella organisation I'd quite like to get at least a ballpark figure.

It all looks very expensive glamorous.
