William could remove the HRH and prince/princess titles is what I read

The Monarch has the power to grant titles but no power to take them away. Charles cannot currently and William cannot in the future without the government- so petition the government to get your wish. Because it won’t happen any other way.

INVICTUS: TEAM UK

Army veteran Tilly shares how the Invictus Games is supporting her recovery after a knee injury ended her military career.

As part of her recovery journey, Tilly attended a few of the Invictus Games pre-selection training camps, which gave her the chance to try out new sports she wasn’t familiar with.

This gave her the confidence to then apply for the Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023.
Being selected for Team UK has left Tilly feeling “excited” and “very honoured”.

“I cannot wait to be part of something again,” she says. “It’s a sense of belonging and camaraderie that I really do miss. It’s just such a huge thing to be a part of, just like being in the military, and it’s already providing me with a great boost.”

You can read her full story here. Note: She also suffers from PTSD.

Just 2 days to go! Personally I think the documentary will be good. This sort of thing is Netflix’s bread and butter.

The discussion here around intelligence and connecting it to university education is elitist, classist prejudice and actually an argument that lacks intelligence itself. Plenty of people with degrees lack intelligence, plenty of people without are highly intelligent.

Once again I am insulted and disgusted by the comments regarding mental health and trauma and it shows how much work we have to do to end this nonsense stigma that deems people who have battled mental illness unworthy of respect, incapable of functioning as an adult, and somehow defective. It is disgusting. Half the population suffers anxiety, so anyone using it to have a go at Harry is insulting half the posters here. It is a damaging conversation to have anywhere and I think it is even worse that it occurs on a thread about Invictus, its almost as if the posters haven't listened to a single athlete or participants story, every one of them have overcome trauma and challenges around mental health. How disgusting to come here and make those remarks.

Can this thread please stop making these kinds of remarks about mental illness? It really is low to do here, or anywhere.

Yes let's make out harry to be a victim once again. The same guy who compared killing people to playing video games, has a kill count and has had numerous racist incidents and has been violent towards others is surely fit to be king.

I find it funny the excuses that some people have for harry’s cheating, even though there is actually evidence that the palace covered this up, and the outcries that it is elitist to say that harry isn't smart just because he didn't go to university. No, it's got nothing to do with having a university degree. he’s not smart because he didn't learn from his nazi costume debacle and continued making racist remarks. He's not smart because he doesn't understand that acting badly towards others (slapping people and shoving them), will attract controversy and hence will ruin his reputation. He's not smart because he doesn’t understand that stripping naked in Las Vegas with a bunch of strippers and other random people will surely make it more likely for a controversial photo to leak. Luckily the palace did their best to rehabilitate his reputation. He's also not smart because of his academic performance. Even Diana mentioned harry’s lack of intelligence.

Thanks for the link @MissElinorDashwood what a great story, so glad sport has helped Tilly with her PTSD. I know that even going out walking when I was particularly poorly massively helped me.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 28/08/2023 10:19

@MamoruHisaishi never @ or quote me again, your comments are insulting and damaging and you clearly don't give a fuck. Your attitude hurts people, myself and my children included.

TEAM UK

59 competitors have been selected to represent Team UK at the Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023 in September.
The team is made up of veterans and currently serving personnel from the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. And in Düsseldorf they will be competing across 10 sports including athletics, swimming, wheelchair rugby, and powerlifting.

UK TEAM CAPTAIN:

“A few years ago, I couldn’t go to the park with my kids, so I want to show them what I’m able to achieve now."

Lieutenant Commander James Rogers has been selected as Team UK captain and is returning for his second Invictus Games after competing in cycling and swimming 2022.

A serving member of the Royal Navy, James lives with ankylosing spondylitis, a long-term autoimmune inflammatory arthritis condition which affects his mobility, causing full-body pain and chronic fatigue.

"Representing my country, and the Armed Forces, and to top it all off, being selected as team captain, is an absolute honour and privilege."

The sheer contempt that poster has for mental health - wow.

Contempt? Tell me what I said was wrong? How is harry fit to be king based on how he's acted? Also, there is nothing wrong with saying poor coping skills. That's not making fun of the mentally ill. And if we were to talk about mental health, is dragging your family during a time when loved ones are ill or dying a sign of caring about their mental health? Did Harry ever express any empathy for his family at all during their difficult moments?

skullbabe · 28/08/2023 10:20

Thanks for that @MissElinorDashwood

Iwantcakeeveryday · 28/08/2023 10:22

Violence is never justified even if someone has mental illness.

Roussette · 28/08/2023 10:28

Why the actual fuck are you going on about Harry being fit to be King? He is never ever going to be.

You just keep saying this to cast slurs at him, to insult him, to insult other posters about PTSD. Your contempt for Harry oozes out of every single post of yours.

I honestly suggest you take a step back @MamoruHisaishi
You are doing yourself no favours here.

skullbabe · 28/08/2023 10:30

Contempt doesn’t even cover it. They keep making statements that are intentionally provocative, nonsensical, or non sequiturs meant to disrupt a mostly reasonable discussion about the documentary and by extension the games themselves. Best to ignore.

i do have contempt for him. You’re right. I don’t like racists. Is that such a bad thing? To dislike racists? Especially racists who have seemingly been absolved of their racism just because they married someone mixed race.

And thank god for that. It’s almost as bad as if Andrew were to become king.

Do you also have contempt for Prince Philip who constantly made offensive racist remarks to people's faces, knowing he would never be pulled up on it? Or The Late Queen for negotiating an opt out from the Race Relations Act so she wouldn't have to comply with it in her own household? Or Princess Micharl of Kent for, again, numerous racist incidents and remarks? Harry is a product of his family.

Why do you keep talking about Harry becoming King then?
Very different to Andrew, whatever you might think.

You are deliberately trying to stir up hate. It's not pleasant and we see it.

And it's not working.

yes I don’t like prince Phillip because of his racist remarks or Princess Michael of Kent , or lady Hussey. So what’s your point? I don’t see william saying racist offensive remarks, nor have I heard Diana say anything close to it.

MissElinorDashwood · 28/08/2023 10:39

Some friendly advice: Please ignore the negativity and detractors. It’s all so tiresome and repetitive. It’s time for everyone to move on.

Let’s focus on Harry’s accomplishments and the veterans who are deserving of our attention and support.

I’m absolutely looking forward to the Invictus documentary and the games in September!

In the spirit of these games and respect for our veterans, let’s try to use the rest of this thread for positivity and awareness only.
