The trailer for 'Heart of Invictus" has been released by Netflix, and it looks incredible, and so moving.

For those interested, please find it here.

@Iwantcakeeveryday I believe the tabloids are doing a great disservice to veterans right now. They could generate a lot of clicks/revenue just by highlighting the six veterans from the series if they weren’t so consumed by their prolonged campaign against Meghan and Harry. Unfortunately, they are now invalidating the PTSD suffered by military veterans who served in combat.

“The depths they’ll sink to in an attempt to discredit Prince Harry’s military service is a bottomless pit that shames the nation.”

PrincessTigger · 02/09/2023 11:30

Harry’s profile is the reason there is so much interest and the reason the show is being made in the first place… plenty of worthy causes don’t end up on Netflix. He’s the pull. It’s daft to say oh no, everyone’s talking about him. That’s the whole point. He would have stayed behind the camera if it wasn’t.

No it doesn't. As any of the numerous things on throughout the year will tell you. The Royals themselves are a military family. The UK however does not venerate its vets in thr same way that places like the USA do. We do not beleive, in generally that anof these wars are for our protection. However, that is a longstanding preference to turn away and keep walking. Which ultimately was how the country trained itself to deal with hardship in first half of last century.

Some people would never watch this and Harry's attachment to it made them do it and then they are negative.

Ultimately if his presence damages the Games he will have to go. It offers too much to many for his attachment to bring it down. But also we need to consider that something like this would not get much attention, without him. I'd never heard of the warrior games

I agree.

But I am trying to focus on the vets and not on the gutter press who have shamed us many many times over the years with how they treat people of all backgrounds. It's embarrassing.

MissElinorDashwood · 02/09/2023 11:58

I hope everyone here can recognise the difference between horrific harassment spanning years and “oh no, everyone’s talking about him”.

I’m sure none of us would wish the same on our own children.

WE harass them. The media print what is read. What happened in the 90s and 00s was abuse and should never have been tolerated. People slating him in the sess pool of the internet hardly worth anyones trouble.

And no I wouldn't want any child to be in a game which involved fame. Must be immensely worrying for all families: royals have no choice. But I am also acutely aware that their are several people anyone would recognise if I talked about them and no-one knows anything about their private life. Harry can reset the game. Like I said before George will be a teenager and drunk soon and have teenagers swooning over him.

Like I said previously, I take most of my news from credible news publications & channels abroad. You’d be surprised how much of a bubble we live in.

Yes, I have no time for the tabloids or those that defend them (bizarre!).

Unfortunately, the tabloids drive the news agenda here in the UK.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 02/09/2023 12:07

Oh I have lived outside the Uk so I am aware at the horrible bubble! I agree, take your news from multiple sources, as credible as possible, but only believe half of it!

Well I never read them so they don't. Maybe for a certain strata.

Every country lives in a bubble. That's obvious and restricted news wise to their sphere.

Harry is already resetting the game….for his own children (and for Charlotte and Louis by extension). George will be protected in the same way that William was. He’ll be fine, I hope.

Not necessarily and some more so than others. It’s an interesting topic and one that will require several threads, I fear.

A healthy level of scepticism is a must.

It can’t be avoided. Papers reviews on every morning and evening show (tv and radio) sets the news agenda for the rest of the day or two (more if the tabloids drag it out).

No he hasn’t. Any example he would set would be a disaster. If C and L aren’t needed as working royals. Educate them, let them have careers and a resignment that there will always be some interest. Aka all Harry’s cousins. And all Charles cousins. He could have literally cut all interaction with the media. But he needs money and I get that. But as a role model to those two babies he is not.

His own children need to get careers and independence. They aren’t attached to the royals, have those unfortunate titles and while wealthy it isn’t a bottomless pit like the royals. Who just pay for where all the Queens Grandchildren live.

It’s a bit presumptuous if he thinks he knows what’s best for 2 kids he’s hardly met… Margaret, Anne, Edward, even Andrew didn’t grow up and slag off their older sibling on every channel that would have them… so it can be done lol

Margaret’s children have led perfectly happy lives with careers, as have B and E and P and Z. Not held back at all by who they are connected to (Zara’s is on talent but you know money buys horses). And all their parents were and are immensely proud of them.

There was always a way to be royal but also essentially have a job, live without media and still, get this, be happy. Always a bit of fudging though B and E turn up at ‘private charity’ stuff all the time.

To the tabloids. Christ people listen to all those quacks on you tube now. Can’t remember the last time i heard anyone say the Mail said it. I heard it on you tube. All then time.

MissElinorDashwood · 02/09/2023 13:09

I could rebuke the last few posts with proof but this thread will descend into a Harry 🆚 William 🆚 Monarchy ‘bashing thread’.
It always happens without fail and I’m not interested in doing that here.

I’m going to exit this particular conversation.

A lovely update regarding Darryl from Canada featured in The Heart of Invictus

Darrell Ling gifted hand-carved wooden plaques to Prince Harry and others that helped him on his road to recovery. Recently, he made a Yellow Bench for Landing Strong, an organization that supports military members, first responders & veterans.

Thanks for sharing @MissElinorDashwood I have been wondering how he was doing, and I love the idea of the yellow bench!

As a surprise to nobody, the documentary is a flop:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12473127/Prince-Harrys-Invictus-Games-documentary-flops-fails-hit-Netflixs-10-streaming-chart-UK.html

I think it's well made for the concept but the topic is very niche and has no mainstream appeal outside of the Commonwealth. If you asked any random person on the street in Europe or Asia, they would have absolutely no idea what Invictus is. There has been zero press or hype about this year's games, which, ironically, are being held in Germany. Celebrating war veterans is a very controversial topic in central Europe so the media are deliberately keeping it out of the spotlight.

Prince Harry's Invictus Games documentary flops on Netflix

'Heart of Invictus' features athletes preparing for last year's edition of the games and saw Prince Harry open up about his mental health struggles after returning from military duty in Afghanistan

Netflix top 10 that they publish ( not clicking the fail link ) is for week starting august 21 and ending august 28. They haven't got the top 10 for the week where it was released yet.

Why anyone would rejoice in this failing is beyond me. Its meant to be for the veterans. Harry is not making money from this.
