The trailer for 'Heart of Invictus" has been released by Netflix, and it looks incredible, and so moving.

This section of MN is about the royal family so, no, you can’t demand people stop talking about the royal family. I like the documentary so far, it’s the best thing Harry has been involved in for a while, but it’s not an opportunity to bully other posters again. Let’s celebrate the vets’ stories not by going SHUT UP but by being nice for one day.

skullbabe · 30/08/2023 18:05

These are things a lot of vets say, that there isn't adequate support and healing. That's not an attack.

I hope you listen to this and realise that your need to criticize Harry once again is at the expense of all the other veterans when you come at him for saying he didn’t have enough support - they all say the don’t have enough. Just stop it. I’m sure there’s plenty else you can attack him for on another thread that is not about Invictus. It’s best you go there because it’s apparent you haven’t seen any of the episodes and are simply posting about what you think he has done (based on what is in the media) not what actually has happened.

skullbabe · 30/08/2023 18:08

What is it with people wanting to hand wave away poor behaviour and want to criticise the people who actually are calling out the bad behaviour by calling them bullies? Wtf.

I wish.

This is quite obviously a thread for talking about the really great Invictus story, the brave athletes, but it has to be derailed by continual talk of Harry, the book, his Matron, what he said, what he didn't say, his father, brother, and anything to knock him.

It's just a shame that one, just one thread, can't be about Invictus and not the usual bash Harry stuff, of which there's plenty of threads that can be done on.

Even MNHQ has posted agreeing with this.

Perhaps this thread could be moved away from the Royal Family threads, would that help?

Unfortunately there’s no vets section on MN as far as I’m aware, maybe entertainment or sports?

Stop calling people bullies. its a personal attack. We are asking that the vets aren't used to bash the person who has founded something beautiful that helps them. That isn't bullying. It would be nice if those posters would be nice for a day but I won't hold my breath.

This thread is a place for positivity and support only. In the spirit of the Invictus Games and our courageous veterans (including Harry), please refrain from the tiresome Harry bashing. It’s not like we haven’t heard it all before. It really is time to move on.

I’m sorry but it’s not up to anyone to dictate what anyone says within talk guidelines. I agree that the Invictus games and the documentary are to be presided for raising the profile of vets and what they have gone through , but it is not up to anyone to enforce “positivity” on other posters. People are allowed to post what they like within guidelines. If you don’t like it, then express your disagreement within guidelines or ignore the post. If you feel the post contravenes guidelines then report it.

As it happens I think the point he said that was really short & a bit throwaway. I don’t think it’s very important in the grand scheme of things. But it’s not up to anyone else to say posters can’t talk about it. It didn’t end up in the documentary by accident!

In the Bryony Gordon podcast from 2017 Harry clearly says that his brother and others helped him with mental health issues at 6.55 in this podcast. Why would he now say that he had " no support structure" around him? Is he playing with words again? It's such a shame that things like this can be detrimental to the overall Invictus programme.

'hope you listen to this and realise that your need to criticize Harry once again is at the expense of all the other veterans'

He, once again, is throwing his whole family under the bus. How hurtful must it be for them to see him on national TV saying no one helped him when he previously said they had? What about their mh? He could have said yes I had access to a lot of support but I wasn't in the right place to process my feelings at that time.

I of course have nothing but respect for the Service and ExService men and women. We can praise them whilst querying H's turn of phase at the same time.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 30/08/2023 19:39

Well they're not though because most people don't see anything wrong with what he said. Support structure is very different from the kind of support they offered. Harry has since left the firm and is free to say what he feels. I don't see why some people can't accept that veterans from all sorts of backgrounds don't think there's adequate support in place.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 30/08/2023 19:41

No @Janiie I think you're weaponising their stories for your own agenda against Harry. It is disrespectful to them. One above has said Harry is like a brother.

MissElinorDashwood · 30/08/2023 19:42

Please don’t lie. He did not, under any circumstance, throw anyone under the bus.
Im going to trust my own ears and my own eyes, thank you.m. I have watched all five episodes and I trust my own judgement and don’t need my thoughts fed to me.

I'm not weaponising their experiences at all, what an unpleasant thing to say. I've said repeatedly I've nothing but respect for them.

I am saying that if mh matters, and it does, then everyone's should be considered and to now suggest his db, df and dgm etc didn't offer support is not fair on his family.

What is true is people aren't always able to accept support but that is not the same as it not being offered and available

It will certainly be seen as detrimental by some people - they may think "OMG here he is again whinging about his life" and yeah again playing with the truth. Is he lying now or did he lie then? That is the basic problem - he changes his story. He has a negative image in many sectors.

Roussette · 30/08/2023 20:00

How lucky he doesn't have a negative image in the sector this thread is about then.

But he has praised him previously?

Anyway. Invictus is surely all about dermination and positivity. Accepting what has happened and finding solutions and strategies. Not forever blaming others.

I think you should write to Palace and ask of they are ok. You could also write to their doctors just to make sure. Ditto Mr. and Mrs. Middelton as sometime people are aware they are are depressed/suffering until someone point it out.

It may be halpful to include a few links to organisations that could help them if they are suffering because of Harry.

That way you will be doing something proactive something that will ese your worried brow, and you also be talking directly to the people who need your help.

There is really not much point of talking into the abyss here.

IamSTARVING · 30/08/2023 20:09

Any irony at all there?😁
