The trailer for 'Heart of Invictus" has been released by Netflix, and it looks incredible, and so moving.

For those interested, please find it here.

'I think you should write to Palace and ask of they are ok.'

Are you mocking and minimising the potential mh and wellbeing issues that say, William may be suffering just because he doesn't talk about it constantly on the telly?

mrsmingleton · 30/08/2023 20:14

@Janiie or is she taking the piss out of Meghan ?

Nope.

I am not and do not try that.

I am definitely questioning you continously asserting that the the King, P & PoW plus the late Queen more than likely had/have mental health issues due to a family fight.

Do you have anything at all to back up that speculation?

IamSTARVING · 30/08/2023 20:22

mrsmingleton · 30/08/2023 20:14

My opinion is that Meghan Markle was bullied for years by the UK tabloid media. It was so extreme that female (where were the men?) MPs had to ask for it to stop.

So no - I am not "taking the piss" out of DoS.

This is my lat nswer to you or @Janiie

I think a lot of viewers felt particularly moved by the story of Yuliia from Ukraine.

*Captured by Russian forces ahead of her planned attendance at the Invictus Games, Yuliia ‘Taira’ Paievska was later released in a prisoner exchange – and then received a personal phone call from the Duke of Sussex.

She told the Telegraph: ‘I am very grateful to Prince Harry, because it was after... the Invictus Games that the Russians stopped interrogating and torturing me. I think that spreading the word to the whole world influenced their decision to trade me in a prisoner exchange.’*

Sorry, this is about Invictus and Harry you may need to start another thread if you want to discuss others and the UK Media.

mrsmingleton · 30/08/2023 20:27

@IamSTARVING As you say though you assert that MM was bullied yet you yourself use a phrase which has become associated with her to mock someone else's opinion. I guess that shows how easy it is to slip up at times.

Perhaps you can start another thread if you want to bring up everything about Harry from the past.

That would be good.

I honestly think you are only on here to derail.

Roussette · 30/08/2023 20:30

@Iwantcakeeveryday

That's a great article and how good Harry rang Taira just a week after she was released.

Janiie · 30/08/2023 20:33

'Perhaps youcan start another thread if you want to bring up everything about Harry from the past.'

I've been discussing what he has said in the programme and how it contradicts what he has said in the past? How on earth is that a derail.

PrincessTigger · 30/08/2023 20:34

I’ve made it to Episode 3… I’m starting to find all of the weird sound effects really distracting

Iwantcakeeveryday · 30/08/2023 20:34

In all likelihood she would not have been released if she had not been an athlete in the games. It's an incredible story. I hope she is ok, its a lot to overcome.

Roussette · 30/08/2023 20:35

Just look back at your posts. Every single one is having a dig at Harry from the past. Every. Single. One.

If that's not a derail, I don't know what is.

Maybe take note of MNHQ's message on here.

MrsLeonFarrell · 30/08/2023 20:35

As I said I haven't watched the documentary but I did see the 'left to his own devices' quote in the press and I thought he was referring to a lack of support from the army. Maybe in context it is clearer but isn't the whole point of Invictus that it is helping veterans rehabilitate in a way that no organisation provides? Therapy is an evolving area and we learn more about the brain and how to help with trauma each year.

Anyone in a war zone would need support after they left, Harry is no different. I hope the documentary inspires veterans who are struggling to find support and maybe a new sport.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 30/08/2023 20:39

One of the things that prevents veterans from getting support is the fear of judgement from others. Indeed, that is a common fear from anyone with mental health issues. Perhaps people should think about that.

Can you be more specific? I'm not sure where you are going with that?

And also kind of distasteful actually

Iwantcakeeveryday · 30/08/2023 20:50

what? no idea what sound effects you're talking about

queentim · 30/08/2023 20:58

Really powerful documentary.

Fantastic job to the vets and active military persons who participate and continue to work towards rehabilitation.

Prince Harry, Archewell and Invictus did a really great job with this. I can see it possibly being nominated.

I hope they get lots of attention and donations - what a fantastic cause.

I'll definitely be supporting in person!

Is she not allowed to have an opinion? We live in a democracy.

skullbabe · 30/08/2023 21:47

It’s really good to see these stories being positively reported - I’m sure they’re all now looking forward to the start of the games soon.

Gilmorehill · 30/08/2023 21:50

MissElinorDashwood · 30/08/2023 20:01

Their mother died in 1997. Their useless father, with all of his wealth and resources failed both of his sons.

I don't know if you are a parent but there's only so much you can do. I have very loving and supportive parents. However, I have just returned from a family weekend to celebrate a family milestone and my brother took every opportunity to complain about his life and how my dps are responsible. He's the MD of his own company and has two lovely children! I think it's just the way he's wired and he reminds me a lot of Harry.

skullbabe · 30/08/2023 21:55

How lovely. I think that it’s been evident to the road up to the games that Harry has been engaged with many of the veterans and the general public.

Gilmorehill · 30/08/2023 20:02

Didn't it only come out this morning?! Bloody hell. I wish I had that much free time.

You have no clue about the circumstances of those you sarcastically mock.

I watched all five episodes with my daughter who suffers from chronic illnesses and lives with constant pain. She is home educated as a result.
I can tell you that as a mother, the pain of watching your child suffer and almost die, twice, is excruciating and physically hurts your heart.

I won’t go into details about what the last ten years have been like for us. This thread does not feel like a safe space to share those kinds of experiences and thoughts, unfortunately.

We ended up watching all five episodes. I cannot begin to describe the profound effect this serieshad on the both of us. You don’t have to be a veteran to relate to this documentary. It has been a highly emotional day. In a good way.
Again, I won’t go into details.

I am grateful and thankful to Prince Harry for using his own pain and sense of duty to create the Invictus Games. I am also indebted to the veterans for sharing their experiences and vulnerabilities with the rest of us.

They saved at least one more life today.

Roussette · 30/08/2023 22:17

@MissElinorDashwood
💐 To you and kind thoughts to your daughter. That must be incredibly difficult and I am sure both of you gained a lot from the series

As far as watching all in one go, oh yes! I am a binge watcher and have been known to watch five episodes of a series, just like that. I like a hit of a programme I'm enjoying, not stretching it out over days/weeks. 👍
