The trailer for 'Heart of Invictus" has been released by Netflix, and it looks incredible, and so moving.

For those interested, please find it here.

A very moving series, thankful to all the participants who opened up.

I'm in bits following Taira and her family. What an exceptional woman, what sacrifices they've made. Urgh, war is so horrible.

What an amazing documentary, even if you aren't a big fan of Harry you can't help but admire the work he has done with Invictus

Didn't seem like he does a huge amount except show up to me.

Please don’t be disingenuous. You’re asking us not to believe our own eyes. It’s quite clear that Prince Harry, the Invictus Foundation & the Invictus Games are saving lives.
Harry is involved both behind the scenes and front of stage. He cares deeply about veterans. It’s evident in his actions, his words and his demeanour. His work with veterans spans over a decade. It is well documented and no one can take that away from him.

Prince Harry Is 'Like a Brother,' Says Invictus Athlete, Shares Their Special Hawaii Scuba Trip (Exclusive)

“Every conversation that I've had with him has been just like I'm talking to a friend, a brother, maybe because of the military connection that we have,” George tells PEOPLE of connecting with the Duke of Sussex. “We share where we just left off. The conversation just continues to go on.”

George made his mark at the latest Invictus Games in archery, swimming and rowing, and meeting Harry there (spoiler alert!) led to a scuba dive together in Hawaii in November 2022. Diving is uniquely therapeutic for George’s chronic shoulder pain, as the plunge provides relief and release.

The Times review is headlined by saying it shows the best of Harry and The Guardian review, which I could read in full because of no paywall, is also fairly positive. The Daily Mail seems to be shit stirring by quoting him out of context and trying to link quotes to the royal family (no surprise there).

I'm not going to watch it but I think that from reading reviews it is obvious that this is an organisation that Harry puts his heart into and which is a perfect fit for him. I hope that he is able to continue working in these areas because he is making a real difference and that matters to him, as it should. I like the fact that the focus is on the actual competitors.

JamieFrasersfurrysporran · 30/08/2023 17:05

@MollyRover yes he does appear to show up, good for him

A fair review I think

Angrycat2768 · 30/08/2023 17:10

Yes, shame some people can't see beyond their blind devotion to the Royal Family and subsequent hatred if Harry and Meghan and something good that Harry has done and has devoted himself to. I think this is the kind of things the Royals should be doing, snd Invictus will be as beneficial and far reaching as the Princes Trust and the DoE award scheme.
I agree with the Times review. Forget about complaining about what the Royal Family did to him and the lawsuits when he must know the way they work, and that they are not willing to be who he wants them to be. That goes for the press, too. Just live quietly with his wife and children and do stuff like this. I'd like to know more about Sentebale too.

I've only seen a clip on telly that showed him yet again saying he didn't get any help or support when his dm died and it was only when he was curled up 'like a foetus' that he went out to seek help. However both him and William have spoken before about the support they received and Harry himself said William had suggested he seek professional help years ago which he did.

I do hope he isn't once again varying his recollections to fit the narrative, to fit in with the very brave vets who who are striving to be the best they can be whilst accepting their limitations.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 30/08/2023 17:21

Thanks @MissElinorDashwood for the link about Gabe, I felt bad for him as I thought he was really disappointed with his performance at the games but glad he has happy memories and has made great friends, including Harry. I thought that was another great message from the series, that friendship and reaching out to others is an important part of healing. I tend to shut myself away and not want anyone around me and that doesn't help if you let it go on too long.

PrincessTigger · 30/08/2023 17:24

This is very good so far

I don't think that clip, or The Daily Mail are being fair to the documentary. The Times review explains that the focus is on the veterans, as it should be, and that Harry is in a role that suits him with Invictus. A single aside is doing a lot of heavy lifting in The Mail.

Janiie · 30/08/2023 17:34

'don't think that clip, or The Daily Mail are being fair to the documentary'

Tbf I've only seen positive reviews and I will look forward to seeing the participants stories just why must he always now throw in the 'I was left to my own devices' story when he is actually on record as saying his df etc had all taken good care of their well being. He is the opposite in mentality to the vets.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 30/08/2023 17:41

He is a veteran. That's why he started this. He is in charge of his own experience, not anyone else. Not the palace spin they clearly put on the brotherly relationship that never was. Of course, they spin the stories they want the public to believe. I think it's unbelievable to use the vets he's helping and who appreciate what he's doing, to attack him as somehow inferior to them. I really don't think they'd appreciate you doing that. Once again we have someone judging how someone else deals with their traumatic experiences and mental health struggles. He was left to his own devices and he isn't the first royal to say that. In addition, the whole purpose of the games is to give something to the veterans Harry felt was missing. Quite a lot of vets talk about how they feel isolated and lacking the right support when they get home. Are they attacking their family too? or is it simply that they are sharing that there is more we as a society could do to help anyone, injured physically or not, when they come home from war. That's the message I am getting, not the twisted version media are pushing and sadly some are repeating ad nauseam.

Roussette · 30/08/2023 17:44

Can you not write one, just one post on this thread, without it being a poke at Harry?!

Just askin'....

I think he's doing a good job, so far the Heart of Invictus has been well received, even from the media who usually are very negative towards him. It must mean something.

Here is a review.. "It is a noble subject that needs more light shined upon it."

Yes but he has previously said (not palace 'spin') that he wasn't left to his own devices and that his df, db and all extended fanily took care of him. Which is it?

I don't recall him ever saying everyone in his family really took care of him. How could they when he went straight to boarding school after his Mum died? I believe what he says now because he's not under pressure to say what they want him to. He is simply saying there was trauma and pain that wasn't dealt with after his mum died, and after war. These are things a lot of vets say, that there isn't adequate support and healing. That's not an attack. I have no idea why yours so defensive about it. I think the focus should be on what he has created with Invictus and the story in the series. The way you use the vets to take a pop at him is really disgusting to me.

I agree. I’ve watched all five episodes. Harry doesn’t say anything that’s deserving of criticism. There are zero digs. This isn’t about his family at all. The tabloids and broadcasters need to give it a rest and move on.

Seriously please if you can’t talk about the vets and their stories please just stop - it’s obvious you cannot engage in this topic without taking a dig at Harry and it’s quite tedious and frankly insulting to the actual spirit of the documentary. Just stop. Lots of other places for you to get you full of Harry bashing - this isn’t it.
