The trailer for 'Heart of Invictus" has been released by Netflix, and it looks incredible, and so moving.

For those interested, please find it here.

All the very best to you @onlylarkin

I just wanted to point out that what Harry does IS helping people around the world and words said matter, even on an anonymous forum.

beatan · 28/08/2023 18:42

Only two days to go, I'm very excited to see this!

Was hoping Netflix would release a new trailer, who knows.

Who else will be watching?

The invictus games help and inspire people around the world and yes words do matter, including those written in a book about a 'not hot woman with a crooked spine'.

It is a strange oxymoron that Harry wants to help the mh of some people while not seeming to care about the mh of his family whom he has launched several attacks on during his many chat show appearances, not to mention his tell all book.

His caring seems very selective.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 28/08/2023 19:25

@Janiie , @PipMumsnet has already asked we stay on track on this thread. This isn't about the book or chat show, this is about the Invictus Games.

Roussette · 28/08/2023 19:25

Can we not talk about the subject matter instead of digging up stuff from the book that is absolutely nothing to do with the thread

Your post smacks of intentional derailing

onlylarkin · 28/08/2023 19:27

Frankly, I don't care if you like what Harry is done. If it bothered you that much, you would stop searching out information about him and live a peaceful life.

My cptsd is from family abuse and if I could write a tell all book about how awful they were I would, just for the sheer number of adults who are in the same place I am in and who needs it.

So no, I don't need to hear how much you hate about Harry on a positive thread about a positive things for the mental health of veterans. Can't you find somewhere else to bitch? There are about 500 other threads negative about Harry that may be better suited for you.

Not sure why you think It's just Evil Murdoch and the Evil Daily Mail.
**
Anyway, I'm sure he hopes he can claw back some credibility by mixing with the very inspirational vets at IG.

‘Evil Murdoch’ is across 3 countries - total population of the three approx 450,000,00 - and in news media Murdoch covers print, online, tv. Many other crappy news sources just rehash Murdochs stuff. Same with the Daily Mail.

I didn’t know that the owner of the Faily Mail was a friend of Charles? A friend of Charles is owner of a paper that printed awful things about his daughter in law Meghan from the very first, snd Charles can’t do anything about it? Some friendship.

It’ll be interesting watching ‘Evil Murdoch’ et al try to balance tearing into Harry and Meghan while staying acceptably respectful of the Invictus Games. My bet is they’ll go after Meghan. Damned if I know how those journalist sleep at night. ‘Evil Murdoch’ can, no doubt. But the ordinary every day journos that work for him?

The tabloids always print favourable coverage of the Invictus Games, I can’t think of a time they didn’t. Last time Harry kind of derailed it with comments about the Queen so he has to avoid that this time around.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 28/08/2023 19:34

Here here @onlylarkin Ive been there too, and yeah I would write a book too if I could, I don;t think people need to be silent about trauma, abuse or difficult childhoods. The games focus on how sport helps us heal, any derailing from that message is insulting the veterans who have been willing to share their stories to help all of us who have painful experiences to get past.

Please just pause and think if whatever negative thing you think about Harry really belongs here, with people who are trying to heal and find something in this that helps.

MissElinorDashwood · 28/08/2023 19:35

Anyone know how to post short videos?
I wanted to post some from Team UK.

One day, I will go into detail, with proof, the appalling coverage of the Invictus Games last year by the tabloids and TV shows such as Good Morning Britain and Lorraine (Chris Ship & Russell Myers) etc. Not to mention the lack of open support from the Royal family (who have a keen fondness of military titles and costumes).

However, this is neither the time nor the place.

This thread is to shine a spotlight on the veterans and their families. Their journey, sacrifices and achievements.

You can feel the buzz around these games. It looks as though Germany will be putting on a great show! I’m looking forward to it 😊

skullbabe · 28/08/2023 20:10

I think posting the YouTube links might work

The buzz from the athletes on social
media from the athletes is palpable - good luck to everyone!

beatan · 28/08/2023 20:25

Yup, the excitement is building. Competitors have been in training for months and months, their time is nearly here 😀

The drama around Prince Harry is one thing, but the games itself and the competitors always get good coverage? Eg last year they were understandably focused on Ukrainian competitors. And this time there’s the documentary to go with it.

beatan · 28/08/2023 20:35

An example of the british press being ugly was GMB asking Dave of Team UK if Harry and Meghan getting media attention was annoying. I thought it was a shame to ask that because ITV was there to focus on their training and anticipation for the games.

This was just in the past week.

I don’t see the problem, he didn’t seem fazed by the question? It’s something viewers are likely to be interested in. Prince Harry’s profile gets a lot of attention for the games, so that’s kind of the point.

I'm not sure if you're being obtuse, it's not about Dave being phased by the question but the question itself.

What kind of soundbite was GMB looking for exactly? it was needless negativity and goading for a response they could use to bash Harry some more.

If the question was about Harry's profile attracting media attention to the games, why frame the question in that manner? why would a veteran be annoyed at the game getting attention?

He’s their patron, the fact people are interested in them is the whole point. It’s a pretty softball question too, they would have expected him to give exactly the answer he gave. The media ask about Prince Harry because that’s what people are interested in. And that benefits the Invictus Games because it means people are switching on and paying attention. I mean how long did a total non-story about PW go on for during the world cup? If people want to talk about the IG but not as it pertains to H, it should go in Sports.

onlylarkin · 28/08/2023 21:29

Even over here in the US, what I have seen is showing lots of excitement for these games!

It is so transparent. @beatan but, unfortunately, not surprising. As you said, “British press being ugly.”

Media representative’s first question to Dave - who is a Member of the UK Team: ‘There’s a lot of attention given to the fact that Prince Harry and uh, Meghan Markle are attending this year? Does that kind of slightly annoy you that they get all the attention?’

Dave; ‘Er no… … the attention will be on us in two weeks’ time.’

Digging for something negative about Harry and Meghan.

So disrespectful towards the Invictus Games participants.

ALittleTeawithmilk · 29/08/2023 01:06

The question was posed in a negative. ‘Are you annoyed..?’ The Media bloke was looking for an answer that could be used against Harry and/or Meghan. It was the first question the interviewer asked Dave. It’s not showing Dave the respect that is due to these athletes.

At least, please, lead with a question about Dave and the actual games. This is the media exposing where their interests really lie. Sad.

The media will eventually get some participant to say something negative. Or manipulate someone to get something negative. And it’ll be a headline. These athletes are highly unlikely to be highly media trained. Unlike most professional athletes are now.

^^ this

And then there will be such joy in the media. And on here.
It will spawn countless media articles and comments on here such as.... See! Even the athletes can't stand him!

I really don’t think it’s a negative. It’s just a question. The interviewer wouldn’t have expected a negative answer - they would have expected the answer they got (because he was hardly going to go “yeah our patron sucks lol”). And they broadcast this answer - if as you suspect they kept going until they found someone to say something horrible about Harry, why didn’t they broadcast that person instead?

Janiie · 29/08/2023 07:15

It was a valid question. All the training the competitors put in they may well feel it is overshadowed by Harry's commments and his very negative press, but he said not so that's good.
