Harry loses HRH title

Harry's 'HRH' has reportedly been removed from his listing on the RF website. Seems about time, really? Odd that Meghan's wasn't removed too, perhaps an oversight? Or are they making the changes gradually in the hope that no-one will notice...

@Crazycrazylady They're like acupressure bracelets. You press them and they relieve stress (supposedly). Poor Meghan is obviously dealing with a lot of stress in her life currently it appears.

I did think it odd she arranged this pap shoot when her DH was supposed to be centre stage in Japan, but I don't think she can help herself.

And yep, more camel which the RF forced her to wear. Maybe it's cooler there than we think?

What are you on about?

Where did you get all this, obviously made-up, information?

polkadotdalmation · 13/08/2023 12:33

Absolutely correct. Just a non story and waning interest. Even I'm bored with their tactics. Bring on the day when their lies simply wash over me.

@polkadotdalmation

Also waiting to see the day your interest in H&M will start waning.

Cant wait...

I saw only two posters defending Jeremy Clarkson at the time. Both were clearly misogynist nut jobs, but people here enjoy engaging with that.

This constant painting everyone with the same brush is very tiresome.

"Just as we saw with the ghastly Jeremy Clarkson article being defended quite vociferously on here"

I didn't see one person on here defend this but then I may not have seen it all. This statement is vague however to suggest that there was avid support by many of this. Rubbish. Grasping at straws. Suggestion, implying, playing with words...oh wait...

beeonmybonnett · 17/08/2023 23:59

Sounds like they are just slow at getting round to update the website.

After The late Queen Elizabeth II died, they still had bits on the website that implied she was still alive / still the reigning monarch so they obviously are slow at changing things.

Harry and Meghan lost their HRH styles in 2020.

I definitely saw a couple of posters arguing nonsense about it. But otherwise everyone was incensed.

No, they didn't. They agreed not to use the style HRH. But they are still HRH.

Oh, my bad. Well it’s just as well they did agree to not use their HRH styles - I certainly would not be bowing to them if I ever met them.

I didn’t see one person defending it either.

Morestrangerthings1 · 20/08/2023 01:54

I did see it defended, both when it was published, and when the decision came from IPSOS (although Clarkson supporters were less in evidence then, whittled down to about two). It was originally defended, on here, not just on other sm platforms, as just being a ‘Game of Thrones’ reference- not to be taken seriously-He was having a laugh. etc.. etc..

There were also posters who felt it necessary to say how much they liked Clarkson, and his farm show. Those posts were pretty transparent too.

Saying you didn’t see it, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. It’s just saying you didn’t see it. So why cast doubt on it?

Caprisunny · 20/08/2023 07:02

I saw them being defended. However is was by a very small minority. The vast majority of people didn’t give a shit if it was a GoT reference, or how much they enjoyed his farm programme. They thought those comments were vile and deserved consequences.

It’s the internet. Some people have different opinions. There’s always going to be a minority or don’t see the issue or pretend not to. Or even purposely post something they don’t believe to upset people.

But MN posters on the whole condemned JC for those comments.

EdithWeston · 20/08/2023 07:24

@MrsMaxDeWinter

Only just seen your post.

What you describe comes in to the middle category of "exposed and making many bad fuck ups", which led to him becoming utterly beyond the pale.

It doesn't really explain how come he ended up in the position that left him vulnerable to press blandishments, nor why Meghan did not ever introduce Harry to the man she described in such fulsomely positive terms him, even before he started his series of fuck ups.

They did seem to think that sending security staff and some texts was adequate. I think that was an error, and he needed to be considerably better prepared especially in the early days, and then perhaps those fuck ups would never have occurred.

No, I'm not (as accused of before, so may as well say now) demanding that she tells us. I am noting there was a significant volte face between the time when Meghan expressed such love and gratitude and when he was left exposed to the press.

Agreed. Her father was at her previous wedding. I think when she studied previous royal weddings (especially Kate's) it would have dawned on her just how much of a liability her father was going to be for her optics - lumbering down the aisle in front of the world. She made sure it didn't happen - in typical narc style, quietly and strategically.

@EdithWeston i totally agree with your post and I have previously asked why Harry and her father never met before the engagement.
Meghan gave every indication that she had a good relationship with BOTH parents . A poster ( can’t remember who) said Meghan had “ curated” her memories . So are we to believe she lied about her relationship or - the more likely explanation- that she didn’t want Harry to meet her father .

Mylovelygreendress · 20/08/2023 08:35

Sorry @cobicat x posted ( slow typist !)

I didn’t see one person defending it either.

You must have not read all of them then because I clearly remember it.

PrincessTigger · 20/08/2023 09:02

Re: the Clarkson article I didn’t see anyone defend it? I did say I didn’t think IPSO on principle should get involved in opinion columns (and that it gives tacit approval to every other misogynistic columnist that they only intervened this one time). Is that what you meant? If so serves me right for trying to do nuance on MN lmao

Iwantcakeeveryday · 20/08/2023 10:15

Is it the first or second rule of misogyny here, 'women are responsible for what men do', or ' daughters are responsible for what Dads do'?
If what Thomas did publicly is anything to go by, then I can understand how they were not as close as they once were and why Meghan and Harry were not spending time with him. However, the details pf the breakdown don't interest me as I don't think they're any of my business.

As for them sending people to him rather than going in person, surely that makes logical sense? It would be an even bigger circus if she went to him. My own father doesn't need me to escort him places so that he doesn't end up on telly threatening and trying to blackmail me.

I think it's time to stop blaming Meghan for the actions of her father.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 20/08/2023 10:16

Re: the Clarkson article I didn’t see anyone defend it?

People defended it on Mumsnet as a joke. I saw plenty of defence of the article and of the man.

asterdaisy · 22/08/2023 09:18

I read people defending the article on here.

I really doubt that Harry or Meghan give two hoots about what the Royal Family is or isn't doing with its website.

In their NF doc they exposed the realities of the British royal institution and pushed back against the way they've been treated. Harry revealed how trapped the remaining members of the RF really are.

The doc had a number of historical experts explain how the Commonwealth is basically the British Empire, slightly rebranded.

Harry and Meghan chose to leave the Royal Family for a reason. They are happy, free and are doing perfectly well without their titles. Harry was just in Japan this week forging new business connections. Meghan looks fabulous and is apparently resuming her acting career.

The RF removing them at this point just reeks of bitter incompetence, Harry and Meghan dumped them years ago and still live rent free in their heads.

The only reason they “ chose” to leave is because they didn’t get their own way regarding the half in/ half out . I doubt if we would have had the moaning if TLQE had said yes to their proposal .
Oh and they still use their titles plus insisting on their
DC being Prince/ Princess.
I hope they are happy but Harry certainly looks miserable much of the time.

Edited

We've got no way of knowing whether or not they are happy, Harry is a 40 year old man, he's not going around smiling all the time and dancing a jig but why should that mean he's unhappy? He's like William and indeed like the late Queen - resting bitch face :-)

The half in.half out thing - I don't know whether there is any firm evidence of that. Harry and Meghan announced that they were choosing to leave for greater privacy and due to the way the RF and the tabloid media in the UK mistreated them. If it's a choice between building their own careers independently in sunny California vs being racially abused in rainy Britain, I've no doubt they are perfectly happy with their choice.
