Harry loses HRH title

cobicat · 09/08/2023 05:36

Harry's 'HRH' has reportedly been removed from his listing on the RF website. Seems about time, really? Odd that Meghan's wasn't removed too, perhaps an oversight? Or are they making the changes gradually in the hope that no-one will notice...

Really, people are so determined to cast Meghan in a bad light, that they will accuse her of doing just about anything. Big or small, but always negative.

Sometimes I wonder, if there’s not some projection going on. You know, that’s what they would do, so they think Meghan would do it too.

works the opposite way as well, some people are so determined to cast her in a good light, always positive no matter what.

AliceOlive · 16/08/2023 13:36

@LadyVictoriaSponge I think those positions that either leave no room for criticism or are unable to recognize the positives drive this entire board.

IRL I stay away from discussing things with anyone who is so unbalanced in their views.

For some reason I gravitate toward it here though. I most enjoy the discussion when there are extremes. Well, not when the commentary is cruel or crosses lines (marriage for instance is not topic for me)

Anyone else feel that way?

Gilmorehill · 16/08/2023 14:00

At the time of Pippa's wedding, I think M would very much cared about whether she was invited to it or not. It was one of the biggest weddings of the year and being there would have cemented her status as H's gf.
I actually do remember photos of her getting her hair done for the wedding. I never really thought twice about why the photographers would know where she was getting her done. My main thought that all the attention on M was taking the focus off the bride. Mind you I'm sure Pippa wouldn't care! She got the better deal!

Yes they are a very polarising couple and both sides can have blinkers on for sure, Mrs Merton would love these heated debates!

This is so interesting because of how things get twisted against Meghan, even when they are not true.

The week or so before Pippa's wedding, the Sun had a photo of Meghan, pictured from the back after doing yoga while still living in Toronto, and Pippa's backside, pictured at William and Kate's wedding, with the headline; "IT'S MEGHAN V PIPPA IN THE WEDDING OF THE REARS"

Was this also set up by Meghan?

In fact the story is that Meghan was invited to the whole of the wedding, but found that headline so upsetting that she did not want to go, in fear of possibly generating more such headlines on Pippa's wedding day.

So she pulled out of the church ceremony which was public, and went only to the evening do which was private, and did so quietly, with no photographs.

But sure, Meghan is to blame for an unpleasant, and sexist story generated about her imaginary butt rivalry with Pippa Middleton!

AliceOlive · 16/08/2023 17:08

I heard that she was photographed during the day getting her hair done. Didn’t know anything about the article you are referencing.

AliceOlive · 16/08/2023 17:12

Pippa had endless stories published about her around Kate’s wedding, too.

Trouble with that @MrsMaxDeWinter is that it doesn’t fit the bad Meghan narative.
she did a decent thing

Gilmorehill · 16/08/2023 20:22

I don't think it's true she pulled out of the ceremony. It was a 'no ring, no bring' policy for the church ceremony, like many couples have for their wedding.

Well I'm sure you wouldn't would you like many other posters you are determined to.find fault with whatever she does despite not knowing the actusl.facts just the stuff the tabloids report 🙄

Roussette · 15/08/2023 14:39

There is a Thomas Market fanclub on MN. Some posters really like him. And Samantha too
It's all Meghan's fault
Apparently

I'm wondering if I am one of the posters you mean.

Because I remember how Meghan was very effusive about her father on The Tig (no sign of estrangement, he'd paid for her education, been present in her life). But then there's a striking and unexplained change, whereby Harry never meets him, but they believe they've sent him sufficient protection from the absolute slew of attention (I think opinions vary on that, because it's all dependent on recollections from people whose reputations for truth matching verifiable facts may vary - and I mean quite a large number of people by that)

That's not even close to being in a fan club. Rather a look at how reputations change quickly, and without explanation. We don't know how TM went from best possible and generous father, credited for many good things, to exposed person who really fucked up under pressure, to utterly beyond the pale in quite a short space of time.

AliceOlive · 16/08/2023 21:46

Didn’t we recently have a discussion about the word “fan”?

We did and apparently it’s derogatory . But only in certain circumstances………
It’s fairly typical of the double standards when it comes to MM and H. If anyone mentions the OW interview or the wedding , certain posters jump in and say that they were years ago BUT the same posters like to drag up Charle’s book ( 1990s ) Sarah Fergusons books etc
No time limits there !

Except we do @EdithWeston

Let me count the ways. This will be long, sorry.

He lied about setting up the pap pictures before the wedding, and continued lying even when he was asked about them.

Then, when Meghan and Harry said it was okay, and all would be well, and he should still come to the wedding , he refused to answer their calls, and they found out through TMZ that he was not coming after all.

He then started to blackmail her through the press, his preferred people to talk to being Piers Morgan and Dan Wootton, two of the journalists who had been most horrible about her (long before she and Harry left)

She wrote him a letter, which he passed on to the Mail on Sunday, which published it with bits redacted that would have made Thomas look bad and Meghan look good.

In response to her letter, he wrote asking for a photo opportunity with her, for the media. (He confirmed this in his affidavit by the way)

The whole thing resulted in a high profile court case that was completely unnecessary as it was such a clear case of violation of privacy and copyright. She and Harry believe the stress contributed to her miscarriage.

Her half-sister Samantha sued Meghan over how Meghan felt about her own childhood, and he told the media would testify as a witness against Meghan.

He stated on Piers Morgan that he did not believe Meghan had any mental health issues of any kind while she was in the UK.

He has frequently appeared on YouTube channels that propagate conspiracy theories about his grandchildren, and has discussed whether his daughter had abortions, plural, as a teenager.

He agreed to being flown over to the UK by GB news, and to be hosted by Georgia Colin-Campbell (another person who makes money on YouTube by spreading conspiracy theories about his grandchildren) so that he could "confront" Meghan at the Jubilee. He then fell ill, just as he had before the wedding, and was unable to come.

He, Samantha and the Daily Mail, were the three chief sources for Tom Bower's remarkably vitriolic book.

My working theory has always been that like many Type A personalities, Meghan curated her childhood to present the best image of it. It's interesting to me that Thomas Jr, back when he was estranged from his dad, said he and Doria broke up because Thomas Sr liked to travel to Thailand to have sex with prostituted women. If that's true, that's hardly something Meghan would put on The Tig.

Thomas and his children are beyond defending. Lately, no-one gives them much airtime, so they spend a LOT of time on YouTube conspiracy channels, It's really sad to see actually, Thomas Sr talking about his daughter's frozen eggs, etc, while Thomas Jr, in blackface, pretends to be Meghan having sex with Harry.

Meghan is wise to go No Contact with all of them. I thought Malik Obama, Barack Obama's nutty half-brother was bad. This is next level toxic.

He couldn’t go to the wedding because he had two heart attacks and couldn’t travel. The palace (presumably H) leaked that it was a lie, but he produced receipts showing he really was an inpatient at the time.

AliceOlive · 16/08/2023 23:51

Are we skipping over the part where she had her friends release the letter she constructed to her father first? Only the parts that made him look bad and her look good.

AliceOlive · 16/08/2023 23:54

I’m not a member of the “TM fanclub”, but that was another telling moment. I would say it’s a major reason that people expect MM to manipulate her image by arranging photographs of herself.

Gilmorehill · 17/08/2023 00:39

@x2boys I don't think you have any more insider knowledge than me.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 17/08/2023 05:26

@AliceOlive

Her friends did not "release the letter". If they had that would have been a good defence to the Mail's copyright violation.

They simply referred to it in their interview, saying Meghan wrote a letter to her father. This to counter the untrue narrative from Thomas that she was ignoring him and had not been in touch at all. Their mention of the letter was two sentences in a five page interview.

In contrast, the Daily Mail published most of it, but redacted bits about him being manipulated by the press, and how worried she was for him. They also reacted bits where she corrected his lies about her not supporting him financially.

That her friends mentioned the letter in two sentences in a five page interview does not justify this appalling catalogue of behaviour from Thomas Markle. His willingness to make common cause with people who have expressed worrying views about his daughter and crazy theories about her children is troubling.

On MN, people are recommended to go No Contact for far less. Thomas Markle has been abusive in his behavior, and she is right to not see him.

I have not suggested he was not ill.

I have simply said the decision not to attend was communicated to his daughter through TMZ. A really shitty thing to do. He could have picked up his phone, but he did not.

Any comment about the other things on my list?

Pancakebatter · 17/08/2023 07:24

Agree the whole family is extremely dysfunctional. Makes the RF look like the Waltons. Let’s not forget though that Meghan herself has firm for lying, manipulation and dishing the dirt in family members in a victim narrative. She is also unable to ever admit when she is in the wrong or to look at herself critically. All of them are completely self interested and without accountability.

No because I was just correcting that one thing. You said he never answered and I thought it was a bit unfair of you not to mention that was because he was in hospital. I don’t think he’s a particularly wonderful person, but it’s not fair to criticise him for being ill.

Curious. He was too ill to contact them to let them know where he was, that he had had a heart attack, and that he could not come to the wedding, but he wasn't too ill to contact TMZ to let them know he would be a no show. Meghan found out about her father's heart issues the same way we all did, through TMZ. I am not sure how he was too ill to communicate with them but well enough to contact TMZ, which he did directly.

Also according to what he himself told TMZ, he checked out of hospital 6 days before the wedding, and decided not to go, not because he was still ill, but because he did not want to embarrass Meghan and the rOYAL family.

From TMZ, dated 14 May 2018:

And, Thomas says, he suffered a heart attack 6 days ago but checked himself out of the hospital so he could attend the wedding. He's now decided not to go because he doesn't want to embarrass the Royal Family or his daughter.

And of course, it was not embarrassing to inform them of this crucial information through TMZ!

It's okay. Just as we saw with the ghastly Jeremy Clarkson article being defended quite vociferously on here, Thomas Markle has his fans, who will excuse and downplay anything he does because they don't like Meghan.

AliceOlive · 17/08/2023 13:56

I saw only two posters defending Jeremy Clarkson at the time. Both were clearly misogynist nut jobs, but people here enjoy engaging with that.

This constant painting everyone with the same brush is very tiresome.

Sagharbor · 17/08/2023 21:11

Morestrangerthings1 · 09/08/2023 23:28

Its my observation that most people on here that regularly defend Harry and Meghan do not ‘blame all criticism of them on fake media stories’.

However, so often posters that want to gossip negatively about h&m start threads with these ridiculous ‘news’ reports, aka paid for gossip, or posters use them to support unfair accusations regarding H&M in the threads themselves. Then you have posters, quite correctly, calling bullshite on these ‘news’ articles. Most of it is just unsubstantiated gossip. No named sources and made up bullshit, re-edited, rehashed and reprinted over and over again.

People complain about wanting H&M to be quiet and go away and stop being a bother etc.. which is exactly what they have done. They no longer live in the UK - they have lives elsewhere. They no longer affect your lives. So why read this gossip and become exercised by it? Because those people want to. They want to be pissed off and outraged and H&M are an easy target. Every day the ‘news’ gives these posters something, anything, any bit of rubbish to be outraged about.

it’s not at all healthy.

And it’s also extremely unfair to they people they are targeting.

Your post is spot on.
