Harry and Meghan make surprise phone calls to young leaders in the US

I actually really liked this video, it’s them doing what they have always done best. I want to see more things like this, hope it marks a change in tactics.

It also has a very “royal” feel: e.g. there have been recent reports about a split but they’re not arguing in the gutter they’re rising above it and proving them wrong, they’re using their spotlight to shine onto other people, etc.

Only criticism: why are they filming people on the phone?! Makes me think of The Apprentice 😂 use Zoom!!

So, why Haz doesn't give up his title?

This is asinine.

The whole house of cards will come tumbling down for the royal family if they start messing with his title.

It is predicated on bloodline.

If they decide that it is no longer based on blood but on behaviour then we could vote for our King.

Think it through ffs.

Exactly. If you support the monarchy then no, you cannot take titles just because you don't like one of them. We don't get a vote. That's the point. Plenty have titles who are not working members so that's not a valid reason either.

onlylarkin · 03/08/2023 18:13

It wad reported that the truck was in an alley blocked off with security everywhere amd that the customers went though a security process.

I'd be surprised if they were surprised.

  1. They do look good

  2. The irony of them talking about cyberbullying when their supporters are some of the nastiest bullies on social media

It’s not, the Dukedom is a gift from the monarch - that’s why royal (ie not hereditary) Dukes style themselves Duke and not Prince, it’s a better title because it’s a gift from the monarch not something you’re just born with. The only prince title “better” than a royal Duke is Prince of Wales. It goes Prince of Wales > (royal) Duke > Prince > boring garden non-royal Dukes.

Traditionally male sons of monarchs or their heirs get dukedoms when they marry, but we have managed to survive all these years with female offspring not getting one and with Edward not becoming a Duke until this year.

And in the case of e.g. Andrew taking the formerly prestigious Duchy of York off him could only do them the world of good.

If Louis never becomes a Duke I don’t think it will affect the monarchy either way.

I personally think the titles are neither here nor there though, it’s the line of succession that’s the issue. If Harry really wants his life to no longer be a matter of public interest, that’s what he needs to remove himself from.

I presume you are taking about W&K

No, I'm talking about H&M. Don't get me wrong, their haters are bullies as well. The way they constantly attack Meghan and the kids is disgusting but I feel like because of those lunatics, the behaviour of the Sussex Squad is grossly overlooked. As someone who is on most social media platforms, I see it everyday:

-They constantly attack mostly Kate and Wiliam. The sexism, misogyny is just disgusting. Photoshopping fake news articles to make Kate look like an abused woman constantly beaten and abused by her husband. And it's on every social media platform. The fact that people would claim to hate them so much watch their every move to analyse their every move and bash their marriage is funny though.

-Their constant attack on the kids (George and Louis especially).

-Their homophobia: The pegging hashtag was just light-hearted mocking at first but it spiraled into a lot of homophobic tweets. There are several articles about this.

-Accusing William of having a secret child: William is not my favourite person at all but I cannot understand for the life of me how some people would go ahead and create a rumour like that just because you hate someone this hard. What would Harry and Meghan even gain from that ridiculous rumour being true? Now, people were stalking Rose's accounts, her sister's, her friends', managed to get pictures of that little girl that got posted online and now articles from the French, Italian, Spanish,... press are online talking about this little girl potentially being William "according to fans online". I feel bad for that little girl. She's only 6 (I think?) and this is what she'll see about herself online in the future.
The same people who always cry about Harry's paternity being questioned have no problem doing the same thing to a random little girl because they hate Harry's brothers

So, yes! These people are sick, toxic bullies.

Roussette · 03/08/2023 19:20

@Nono22972 I agree. the Sussex Squad are absolute loons. I read their stuff if it pops up and it is so wrong and so unpleasant. But they're not on here that I know of.

It should never be pitting one family against another. If a person finds not so much wrong with H&M, they don't have to attack K&W in a personal way like they do.

onlylarkin · 03/08/2023 19:33

IMO there are loons on both sides.

I saw a comment from a W and K supporter (not here) that said that M and Hs children should be taken away from them because they left the UK and are not fit to raise their own children because they left.

Samcro · 03/08/2023 19:42

I know nothing about the Sussex squad , they sound unhinged.
i only judge by what I see on here.
for example a thread about PW faking it gets derailed by H&M bashing. This thread is full of it too

I would agree. Its toxic behaviour and totally unacceptable, but it does get frequently overlooked.

WinnieTheW0rm · 03/08/2023 20:20

If the RT Youth Power Fund asked them in their capacity as chairs of one of RTYPF's 14 partner organisation to present the awards phone call

I think it is unfortunate that the other 13 organisations are not being name-checked as often as Archewell.

onlylarkin · 03/08/2023 20:25

But isn't that the choice is RTYPF though Winnie?

WinnieTheW0rm · 03/08/2023 20:32

onlylarkin · 03/08/2023 20:25

That does not make it any less unfortunate.

And may not be good for stable funding in the longer term (as other backers may not want to be eclipsed)

ILikeDinosaurs · 03/08/2023 20:36

I see a lot of sick toxic behaviour directed at Meghan and Harry, on twitter and on here, mostly towards Meghan. It's disgusting the photoshopped images of her pregnancy bump, the disgusting comments about her hair etc, endless lies and projection about her and Harry's every imagined thought and motivation. Royal fans are completely deranged. And to add to that a bunch of Royal commentators like Angela Levin added to that. Can't believe that's her actual profession, she completely disgusts me.

I agree. But if that is what the organization chooses, then it is hardly the fault of anyone but the people who made the decision.

Yes, You just did it yourself in this very page. “I presume you are taking about W&K”.

Such a habit to insult them if you think H&M are being attacked, you can’t even see that it’s part of the problem and only begets more negativity toward all of them.

Donesosavemyusernamesettings · 04/08/2023 05:47

I liked it. The recipients of the calls seemed happy. My DD loves them and would have been thrilled it they’d called her and probably insisted it was filmed.

Also for those saying tacky PR stunts what about Prince William and his burgers and all the surprised customers. Weren’t they all actors and filmed on a closed set?

They’re all doing it as an element of PR and to make themselves look good and to promote their various causes.

Donesosavemyusernamesettings · 04/08/2023 05:51

Also those referring to Sussex Squad being ‘loons’ having seen some awful stuff about both The Sussexes and the Wales’ (is what they’re called) I’d say it’s pretty evenly split. It’s almost tribal.

I liked it too. And one of my adult DCs mentioned it, and was positive about it so despite anyone saying 'everyone thinks they're awful'... that really is not true.

Ohpleeeease · 04/08/2023 06:59

I didn’t particularly like it, like everything they do it was a bit cheesy and self congratulatory, but I didn’t see any harm in it. I bet the recipients of the call were thrilled to bits, it will have made their day.

Meghan looked great, I do think those muted browns and camels suit her.

i admit to doing that deliberately. I get fed up with stuff from twitter and such like being used on here to shut posters down.
there have been 100's of threads on here ripping meghan apart, loads deleted back when mn hq moderated this topic. yet we always get "oh but the sussex squad said this on twitter" I don't do twitter, i don't trawl the internet looking for stuff. as I have said before I judge by what I see on here.

KPops22 · 04/08/2023 08:21

It's more of the same old claptrap - getting the limelight about something that is so vague and tenuous but hey, lucky youngsters to be hearing from us. She is very comfortable with this while Harry is the usual fool. He trots out the glib words " our children are very grateful too". Even M laughed and said " well they don't know it yet". She must think OMG..the recent photos of them on. her birthday show H looking a bit distanced and uncertain in the photos. M on the other hand is very, very comfortable with it all - no more clinging to his hand in public all the time. He's more like the bodyguard in the background.😁

Roussette · 04/08/2023 08:27

Do you actually know anything about it? Have you read up on it?
Obviously not.

It's not 'vague' or 'tenuous' at all.

Perhaps read the thread, it's well covered on here.
