I actually really liked this video, it’s them doing what they have always done best. I want to see more things like this, hope it marks a change in tactics.

It also has a very “royal” feel: e.g. there have been recent reports about a split but they’re not arguing in the gutter they’re rising above it and proving them wrong, they’re using their spotlight to shine onto other people, etc.

Only criticism: why are they filming people on the phone?! Makes me think of The Apprentice 😂 use Zoom!!

Sorry Jeff! Anyway, I've ordered the Holy Water from the Vatican. See you at the usual time for the service. Remember to genuflect.

AliceOlive · 12/08/2023 17:12

I’ve got the incense. Not taxpayer funded, don’t worry.

jeffgoldblum · 12/08/2023 17:13

I will @Maireas ! , don't forget your ring and the secret handshake 🤝, see you at. Nudge , nudge , wink 😉, wink 😉.

Thank goodness. I actually got some last time I was in Jordan for a wedding. Fortunately, the taxpayers paid my expenses.

jeffgoldblum · 12/08/2023 17:14

@AliceOlive , you need no instructions, you know what to do ......

When I was in Jordan for a wedding I picked up some canapes, so I'll bring them.

jeffgoldblum · 12/08/2023 17:20

Ohh @Maireas !!! I love a canapé, so classy , with these treats you'll be spoiling us eh!

polkadotdalmation · 12/08/2023 18:16

I've got an embroidered hippy tunic my mum wore in the 60s, so it's at least 50 years old and looks lovely still. She gave it to me and it looks great with leggings, and she still has my tiny brownie uniform 😊

jeffgoldblum · 12/08/2023 18:18

Sounds very in tune @polkadotdalmation !
Your in!! 🤣

polkadotdalmation · 12/08/2023 18:23

Well they say keep things long enough and they come back into fashion. Think this is on its third round! 🤣🤣

Ohpleeeease · 12/08/2023 18:23

Oh you lot with hippy mums! Mine was definitely of the Liz Taylor generation, pointy boobs and cinched in waist. I actually have a kid leather belt I remember her wearing. I’m a size 10 and I can just about fasten it on the last hole.

jeffgoldblum · 12/08/2023 18:25

I really wish I'd kept a lot of my clothes, my daughter keeps nicking some but I had stuff that she'd have loved and I was thin then so I would have fitted a treat!
Hindsight is a terrible thing!

But surely the young leaders have achieved more (by dint of the fact that they are already 'leaders') than H and M have actually done so what worldly wisdom were they hoping to impart. They are a bit ridiculous at this point tbh.

polkadotdalmation · 12/08/2023 19:00

@Ohpleeeease Size 10 went with the last baby. Trying to shift the baby weight for 10 years now. It ain't going nowhere 😭

I went up, then down again. Waist is size 10, arse is - not.

polkadotdalmation · 12/08/2023 19:08

😂😂😂😂😂. That too

Presumably part of their current publicity push. Multiple articles in magazines, harry in japan etc etc. I said earlier the cause these kids are promoting, safety and internet awareness are excellent. However somewhat hypocritical for a couple who have support the so called sussex squad/sugars online when they are aware they are somewhat deranged. Death threats, cancellations of Youtube and twitter accounts, bot accounts and all sorts go on.

Ohpleeeease · 12/08/2023 19:48

I think they have good intentions but their thinking is all over the place. They don’t seem able to join some very obvious dots. They won’t have considered that their own followers are part of the problem.

PrincessTigger · 12/08/2023 19:49

I do think their intentions and hearts are in the right place… it’s just the execution & decision making sometimes

The decision to make a netflix documentary trashing the royal family for money, would slightly fit into that category, I think?

I'm sure if they had got their half in half out deal, none of this would be happening. They would have gone off and done charity work and represented the queen. It was obviously unworkable of course, and it was this rejection, I believe, that provoked all the anger and revenge tactics. Pity because they could have been a force for good and have changed things in a positive way, but they decided on a path that definitely reaped the wind for them.

PrincessTigger · 12/08/2023 20:53

I do genuinely think they wanted to be humanitarians. The problem is, humanitarians do humanitarianism on top of whatever they did to become incredibly rich. It doesn’t pay well on its own! They left pretty much the only job where you get paid to do it.

OP posts:
polkadotdalmation · 12/08/2023 22:21

They definitely want to be philanthropists but the problem with that is they have to give away their own money, and they don't have enough for that. As you say charity work is something the royal family can do with ease.

Ohpleeeease · 12/08/2023 22:27

Actually they do have enough for that @polkadotdalmation, they have literally millions; they could, if they wanted, trim their sails and have a great life living within their means and still give plenty away. That would be the humanitarian approach.

PrincessTigger · 12/08/2023 22:37

Last year Archewell got $13 million from two donors, and less than $5k from everyone else. It’s rumoured that $10 million was from Oprah in exchange for doing the interview. So it seems like Archewell has cashflow problems if they need to rely on massive donations each year. Next year who knows, but they will have to do a lot of fundraising and so far the fundraising has been behind closed doors.

Archewell , the foundation side, got donations. Those returns are from 2021 no one knows what they took in in donations for 2022 until the IRS rwturn is filed and completed.

For Archewell, the business side, one has seen those tax returns yet. It can take the IRS 2 to 3 years to process corporate tax returns. Thay is normal.

I am not sure why posters in MN seem to overlook there are 2 separate Archewell entities and the entire organization is only 3 years old.

$13 million in cash flow for a new charity is the exact opposite of cash flow problems. 🙄
