I actually really liked this video, it’s them doing what they have always done best. I want to see more things like this, hope it marks a change in tactics.

It also has a very “royal” feel: e.g. there have been recent reports about a split but they’re not arguing in the gutter they’re rising above it and proving them wrong, they’re using their spotlight to shine onto other people, etc.

Only criticism: why are they filming people on the phone?! Makes me think of The Apprentice 😂 use Zoom!!

Archewell , the foundation side, got donations. Those returns are from 2021 no one knows what they took in in donations for 2022 until the IRS rwturn is filed and completed.

For Archewell, the business side, one has seen those tax returns yet. It can take the IRS 2 to 3 years to process corporate tax returns. Thay is normal.

I am not sure why posters in MN seem to overlook there are 2 separate Archewell entities and the entire organization is only 3 years old.

$13 million in cash flow for a new charity is the exact opposite of cash flow problems. 🙄

I’m not talking about the production company, I’m talking about the charity. And cashflow is a definite risk if it’s made up largely from 2 people and you need to repeat it year on year.

A charity that takes in 13 million in its first year is not having cash flow problems. Someone gave them money to get started. So? Charities only function when people give them money.

I don’t know if I’m explaining it wrong but the $13 million comes from 2 donors. They raised $5,000 from everyone else. This means that if they can’t get a small number of extremely wealthy donors to contribute 13M every year (and it’s rumoured 10m was for the Oprah interview which is a one time thing) then realistically their yearly take would be more like the 5k and the initial 13M will in effect be reserve, and it will impact how much they can spend year on year. So they would need do additional fundraising to have more secure income.

I get that. But read the article I posted explaining how research has shown that what they have done often leads to bigger and more successful foundations. Large foundations exist from large one time do actions, usually from righer people.

It is possible that Archewell will struggle. It is equally possible that it will be a huge success.

onlylarkin · 12/08/2023 23:42

But should be please. I wasnt being bossy I promise.

That’s the beauty of an open forum with diverse contributors.

PrincessTigger · 13/08/2023 07:58

Yep Sussex threads are the only place on earth you will find people having opinions on pop culture, it’s a one-of-a-kind unique experience. Everywhere else we’d be like “can a Booker prize winner tell me whether I like this book or not? It’s impossible for proles like me to tell what things we like”

I don't think many people here profess to expertise in all of these areas, but we can have an opinion, based on what we read and think. There are some experts here however. One poster works in the media and knows an awful lot about production. She was very informative.

It's a discussion area and we can express our opinions.

I love the range of expertise only on Sussex threads.

You’ve forgotten the large numbers of posters who know all about legal matters and litigation, IamSTARVING. Prince Harry has many posters supportive of him who are quite sure they would do a better job than his current advisers and the judges who determine his cases. 😀

WinnieTheW0rm · 13/08/2023 11:12

If you look beyond the Royal Family topic, you'll see there is an amazing range of experience amongst MNetters. Not just limited to the list on this thread.

It's a wide community, and some posters are indeed clearly expert. Others are obviously well-informed.

Morestrangerthings1 · 13/08/2023 11:21

I’ve noted that news/gossip (they have often become interchangeable now) media have been very invested in pushing a narrative that Harry and Meghan are in dire financial straits. Along with many other bullshit stories. Mostly they originate from the media groups that Harry is suing. Funny that!

Tru da!

I forgot all about the litigation- in and outs/how judges think and feel/ costs/how laywers use a high profile client who never had a clue or hope of winning in order to raise their own profile and so on

so it's a bit like you give us some money then we will donate it? Or rather some of it? It doesn't sound like a well thought out plan.

Foundations? Yes. They are often a vehicle to distribute grants. Because most people with boatloads of money to give don’t also have the infrastructure in place that is needed to manage the massive process of reviewing applications, vetting and selecting awardees. It’s really wonderful actually.
