I actually really liked this video, it’s them doing what they have always done best. I want to see more things like this, hope it marks a change in tactics.

It also has a very “royal” feel: e.g. there have been recent reports about a split but they’re not arguing in the gutter they’re rising above it and proving them wrong, they’re using their spotlight to shine onto other people, etc.

Only criticism: why are they filming people on the phone?! Makes me think of The Apprentice 😂 use Zoom!!

The arrogance of them to assume anyone would be interested in a call from them. In what capacity did they call them?? Have they got any connection to thd organisation or are they so desperste to stay in the limelight theyre jumping on amy bandwagon.

They were interested though!

It would have been equally worthwhile had they done it without a photographer present….

Kinneddar · 02/08/2023 20:41

They were interested though

Were they though or just being polite.

Set up in advance.

Trixibella · 02/08/2023 20:45

They always need to do “surprise” calls these days. Almost like if they ask in advance, people won’t want to do it.

PrincessTigger · 02/08/2023 20:45

Archewell is part of the committee by the way so they’re not random celebrities asked to present the award, they’re involved in it

My experience of people who do this togetherness means they not together... They didn't need to do it in front of cameras...

IcedPurple · 02/08/2023 21:04

It also has a very “royal” feel

Really?

I thought they found freedom from that?

And if these are 'surprise' calls, how come the recipients just so happened to have cameras set up to record them?

Exactly . So much that H and M do doesn’t feel authentic.

StrawberryWasp · 03/08/2023 08:10

It was a promotion video for the fund which seemed fine.
It also featured the recepients more than H&M which was good.

I did think when H said 'our kids are especially grateful' & M had to jump in 'laughing' saying they don't know it yet, she must of been thinking 'what a idiot he is, everyone is going to pick up on a 2 yr not being grateful to tech developers.'
She had to mop up for his stupidity again.

Hopefully though this is a sign they're going to make things work.

RhymesWithTangerine · 03/08/2023 08:14

What’s your involvement here, OP?

They aren’t Royal. They binned that stuff. Now they want Celebrity, and they can have that.

FloofCloud · 03/08/2023 08:25

Total eye roll for me ... as always they're trying to get themselves in front of cameras and make something about them, when firstly it's not them, secondly their arrogance of thinking they're a platform to thank people. They're always doing some bullocks in front of their photographers to promote themselves off the back of other peoples hard work - they're just exploiters - they've nothing themselves to shine, so they try to rub off someone else's shine 🙄

Janieforever · 03/08/2023 08:26

Operation, let’s improve our reputation and get the cameras ready to capture us doing it and then send it to the media..😂

Yarsvi · 03/08/2023 08:33

I actually really hate this and want to see less/preferably none of this.
I cannot fathom why anyone has any interest in H and M whatsoever.

RhymesWithTangerine · 03/08/2023 08:37

They need to achieve something themselves that doesn’t involve other people’s work or just dishing gossip. But that will require talent and hard work. So far, so zero.

Agree, the pr stunt required neither hard work or talent, it was a pr and photo opp to try to start to rebuild their rep, and they used the young people involved.

Tacky PR stunt. They need to buckle down and get to work, and leave the camera's behind.

What work do you suggest they do, given anything literally anything they do is criticised?

On a previous thread, someone suggested and others agreed, that this supporting young people was a good thing. Now it's not 😮
The initiative behind this would welcome the PR.

There is absolutely nothing they could do that wouldn't be criticised for some on here.

Wheresthebeach · 03/08/2023 08:58

@Roussette They could do actual work with the kids, not just a random phone call. They have the world at their feet - and are wealthy beyond words - they need to do something worthwhile, not just always courting the camera.

PrincessPeaches123 · 03/08/2023 09:06

OP said it all "tactics"

They are involved in it so I don't understand what you mean.

"The couple’s foundation, Archewell, is a founding member of the Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund, and in a new video, they share their conversations with a few of the 26 grant winners"

As I say anything they do gets criticised with some.

In the capacity as one of this year's 14 contributors to the RTYPF, they were giving confirmation of grants to 2023 recipients.

Wheresthebeach · 03/08/2023 09:12

@Roussette Self promoting video's get criticised along with endless complaining and attacking the RF for clicks and popularity.

For some people they can do no wrong.

Roussette · 03/08/2023 09:13

It isn't courting the cameras or jumping on a bandwagon

They were founding members of this initiative and could well be very involved with the young people, we don't know what they do every minute of the day!.
