I actually really liked this video, it’s them doing what they have always done best. I want to see more things like this, hope it marks a change in tactics.

It also has a very “royal” feel: e.g. there have been recent reports about a split but they’re not arguing in the gutter they’re rising above it and proving them wrong, they’re using their spotlight to shine onto other people, etc.

Only criticism: why are they filming people on the phone?! Makes me think of The Apprentice 😂 use Zoom!!

What’s wrong with being a prolific poster?
some people post a lot(me☠️ including)
why do people have to pretend they don’t?

Nothing wrong with it 😂 I get pinned down for hours with a baby sleeping on me, gotta keep myself entertained somehow

Do you really think whomever responds to you in moment is responsible for the history of all the posts on mumsnet RF that you ever didn’t like?

Nope. Agreed. But I get called on all the time to call out posters who say literally anything derogatory about William and Kate.

I didn't call on posts from years ago ! I just disagreed with prolific or not prolific. That's all.

AliceOlive · 04/08/2023 17:58

Omg, I really have to get off here.

I meant back to popularity, not the BRF.

@BethDuttonsTwin lol sorry, I was major confused.

You are absolutely correct - we know PH because of the institution. But he personally has something that a huge amount of people in the world are interested in.

I really doubt that a Charles, William, Catherine or Camilla book/docu series would sell like that.

Just catching up so this may have been answered .
If Harry hadn’t dished the dirt on the RF do you think people would be so interested in him ? Because let’s be honest , the huge book sales for Spare and the viewing figures for the reality show would not have been so high had they not vented so much ! People love a bit of gossip .
So if Harry was to deliver a talk/ book/ TV show without mentioning the RF , without mentioning his mother , who would be interested ? If he had so much of interest to say , Spotify would have clung on to him .

I think we all understand that there are derogatory ways to use terms and that the intent becomes quite clear when you know who is using a word.

I’ve been called a royalist as a way to dismiss some of my opinions. But I’m American. It always cracks me up.

huh?

Accuse someone of using a word a certain way. When they explain their usage call them condescending or whatever. Someone else comes along and agrees.

Your posts seem to conflict with each other.

A royalist or a monarchist is a term to describe someone who supports and follows the royal family and the monarchy. Just like a republican is a term to describe someone that doesn't support the monarchy.

Lots of personal attacks. Lovely! Not the best way to persuade someone to expect your point of view, I find.

Neither is patronising posters, telling them they are peddling fiction or calling them fans in a derogatory way.

Reading the discussion on the word 'fan'... I presume instead of using the word 'Royalist' which some deem to be derogatory..... I could use the words 'Royal Fan' then! ?

Certainly not disingenuous to suggest this?

Samcro · 05/08/2023 10:11

im not a fan of being called a fan lol.
we can't call people haters. so I think fan should be dropped to.
I doubt many people would day they were fans of either side.

PrincessTigger · 05/08/2023 10:30

I don’t mind being called a Meghan fan 😆 that doesn’t mean I can’t be critical or that I’m blinkered

Bloody hell - you must be a quick reader if you gleaned all of that in a quick 30 second search!

The RF board attracts people who are interested in the RF… shocking

There's interest and then there's interest.

Racking up thousands of posts per year for five years about how awful and terrible someone is goes quite a bit beyond "taking an interest".

Aren't there rules about brining in other threads/comments from posters? Its somewhat bullying IMO

You need to report the posts which you think go too far, and MNHQ will delete if they agree with you

Hi all. We have posted on several other threads in recent months about the tone and direction these discussions inevitably take. Quite frankly, we are tired of seeing the same issues occurring each time with no change.

We will reiterate that it must be possible for Mumsnetters to have a discussion about this high-profile couple without it descending to goading and backbiting every time. This is essentially what we're aiming for and we need MNers to at least meet us halfway.

If you see a post that is goady or needling another poster, please don't respond in kind. Report it to us. If posters continue to derail threads we will suspend their account.

Thanks.

Harry and Meghans telephone conversations with the winners of the youth awards was obviously staged but these events usually are, so it’s no big deal. The cause they were supporting is also a very worthwhile cause as SM bullying and abuse is horrific and widespread.

if H&M had walked away from the royal life, (which was entirely the right decision for both of them) and had been involved with this type of venture, rather than making millions selling out Harry’s family, it would have been an excellent choice of charity.

However Meghan has openly supported the so called ‘Sussex squad’ who are prolific trollers on social media, and thanked them for their support. These people have been utterly vile about William and Kate and attack even the slightest criticism of Harry and Meghan. They also are closely associated with the owner of Bot Sentinal who it’s been proven trolled Catherine and William and to lie about the amount of SM hostility Meghan received.

it’s clear trolling celebrities and Meghan in particular is utterly wrong and something needs to be put in place to protect individuals and especially the young vulnerable teens/children. However for Harry and Meghan to put their names to this project is an example yet again, of their gross hypocrisy.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 07/08/2023 15:36

However Meghan has openly supported the so called ‘Sussex squad’ who are prolific trollers on social media

The Sussex Squad isn't some kind of paid membership organisation. It was started as a hashtag by a certain woman, but people can choose to refer to themselves that way and nobody has any control of that. So, who exactly are prolific trollers? Because the original thought behind it was to support Meghan while she was still a royal, to combat the online negativity aimed at her. I have also noticed people use the hashtag to support certain charity efforts on the Sussexes birthdays and things like that. So I am sure when Meghan apparently supported the squad as such, she was likely supporting those efforts and not condoning any online trolling or hatefulness towards Kate and Will.

Also, Suits had 9 series and well over 100 episodes, so not surprising that it would rack up higher viewing figures than other, much shorter series.

Not denying that it's been a success in streaming terms, but claiming it's 'the most viewed in history' is just simply wrong.

Yes, I suspect the Suits success claim is as accurate as this :

One the best selling biographies, if not the best selling biography of all time
