Kate Hate

I came across some old threads in other forums and also articles where Catherine was being criticized for being lazy, dumb, overrated, a gold digger and called all sorts of names. There were even threads that questioned why people disliked her so much, and multiple pages of replies stating why she was so disliked. I am wondering why this seems to have now been forgotten, even if Meghan became the new media target, why is it hardly mentioned the amount of hate and vitriol that Catherine went through?

It’s rather demeaning to think old people sit around in homes tapping on iPads.

not very nice at all.

When I’m old I expect the Sussex’s will be flogging a range of Diana inspired bracelets designed by Meghan on QVC

So it's demeaning to say something lighthearted like that, but not demeaning to talk of Meghan flogging Diana inspired bracelets on QVC when you're old...
In your words 'not very nice at all'

Howsimplywonderful · 26/07/2023 21:05

I’m sure the bracelets will be very tasteful, optional banana charms (which you can get engraved)

Harry will be flogging them, Meghan will be designing them !

😀

but you’re right the bracelets will probably be ‘not very nice at all’

skullbabe · 26/07/2023 21:14

And this is why the insistence by many that they are only criticising rings hollow. What is funny about someone who wrote a children’s book in the vein of the “that’s not my” series? What is wrong with writing a children’s book? Wierd.

skullbabe · 26/07/2023 21:20

I mean - if she does she’ll be following in Fergie’s footsteps like she did with the children’s book.

Howsimplywonderful · 26/07/2023 21:22

@skullbabe

The book was was not similar to the ‘that’s not my … ‘ series

it was badly written and in need of a good edit

"He'll feel happiness, sorrow
One day be heartbroken.
You'll tell him 'I love you'
Those words always spoken."

"Right there on your bench
The place you'll call home…
With daddy and son…
Where you'll never be 'lone."

it’s terrible

PrincessTigger · 26/07/2023 21:40

(Not singling out Meghan but I hate the trend of celebrities writing naff children’s books! They think oh it’s just children so it doesn’t have to be good anyone can do it. But children ought to have THE BEST books, written by proper children’s authors. There is a knack to it, clearly)

Not sure that's much better?

Take the piss out of them and ridicule them...

These posts are beneficial to me to see, it sums up a lot of what I imagine posters' motives are...

Anyone would think they've committed the most heinous crimes imaginable.

'A cat may look at a King', as the saying goes.

Roussette · 26/07/2023 21:42

I've never even read it, why have you?!

Unless you have little DCs of course, I can't imagine reading it just to find fault? Seems odd to me.

It's like Sarah Ferguson's countless Budgie books, not interested! They might be good, they might be dire!

I totally agree PrincessT.. any old sleb writes a kids book!

It’s my current pet peeve 😂

Howsimplywonderful · 26/07/2023 21:47

I do have young children, there are far better books - written by non celebrities.

If she was’t married to Harry it would have ended up in the bin

But that 10 year standard goes to show that their very existence seems to bother many people and there is no winning

Yes, because they're really sunk now! PGTW on mumsnet finds them kind of annoying, so they'll have to lye low for ten years. 😂

I thought it was just me - literally Meghan has not "dumped any unhappiness" now in about 6 months. She spoke at an award ceremony. Harry has not either - he has spoken in court about the press and nowhere else. How does her speaking at an awards ceremony and him taking a media company to task have anything to do with the cost of living crisis? Guess we'll never know.

He used the court sessions to talk quite a lot about how unhappy he's been and complain about the government. But, to an extent, you're right. I don't have to listen. Why do I do it to myself? 😂

In quite a short period of time, the Sussex's have given a lifetime of ammunition for analysis and critique of their lives and perspectives, good and bad. They have fed the criticism and gossip with their expose's, which had phenomenal global audiences, and will be discussed and analysed for the rest of their days.

It does not matter if they are not heard of for a month, a year or ten years, they fed and nurtured the beast and no matter what happens in their life (or the life of H's immediate family), good or bad, they will always be intrinsically involved in any discussion or debate. Criticisms, comparisons and recalls will always be made, because of what they personally have put out there.

I feel it is naive to believe that by staying out of view it would be enough to shut down discussion on what they have said and done in the recent past.

There is no putting that genie back in the bottle at this stage.

Nah. The family just need to Kiss and make up. Then it will all go the way on tampon gate.

Some of you seem obsessed with Harry and Meghan. Even when there is nothing to say you just make up scenarios.
Why are you so obsessed?

Not keen on celebs writing books but its not nearly as bad as those dire exercise videos a lot of celebs used to release years ago. That would be even worse. 30 days to a svelte figure by HRH Duchess Meghan. Cringe.

I flicked through it in a bookshop because I was curious. It might be the worst thing I have ever read.

Roussette · 27/07/2023 06:34

If I didn't like a famous person, the last thing on earth I would do is pick up one of their books in a bookshop and read it! Shock

But there we go... there's a couple of celebs I don't like. I don't read about them. I don't click on links about them. I don't go on threads about them. I basically don't give them headspace

Where did I say I hated Meghan? There was a lot of media coverage of it, I happened to see it on display when I had time to kill in a bookshop and it took me about 90 seconds to read.

I apologise, I assumed.

I didn't use the word 'hate'.
I said 'didn't like'.

Yes. This times a billion. I haven't read The Bench, except various quotes like the ones in this thread but celebrity books often come into the charity shop where I sort books and they are usually dire. (David Walliams I'm looking at you). For some reason they get a pass if it's a children's book whereas the adult versions seem to attract more critical thinking.

skullbabe · 27/07/2023 07:28

He used the court sessions to talk quite a lot about how unhappy he's been and complain about the government

So did the other people in the case - he has a different perspective to others due to his previous role as a representative of the head of state therefore his comments about government were reasonable. It is alarming how enmeshed certain aspects of the press and government are. For me. It’s how in a cost of living crisis the obvious profligate spending by the current members of the RF is reported as being a net gain for the British public and how a British Prime Minister could blatantly lie in our faces repeatedly with barely a whisper of outrage for a full year.
