Grifters indeed! Can we have a lift Joe?

H&M asked if they could have a lift home on AF1 after HMQs funeral.
Environmentally friendly sure, but makes them look grabby and entitled again. Makes for a good story though.

I agree with you, @Millicentsparty . I think projects haven't worked out well and Meghan in particular is trying a different path. I think it's a good thing. They always seemed to be holding on to each other literally and metaphorically. This is a healthy departure imo. Maybe they argue, lots of couples do. Having different work and career paths is a good thing. It may help them to move forward and do stuff that's positive. Much healthier.

Ohpleeeease · 22/07/2023 20:38

Anything to do with their marriage is pure speculation, separate projects is a world away from separate lives. Like pps, I think developing their own paths is far healthier than the joined at the bottom approach.

Howsimplywonderful · 22/07/2023 21:32

I don’t believe the rumours either. They’ve a few hiccups, which most relationships do. They do seem mad about each other and it’s heathy as other posters have said to have some separate projects/interests

I don’t think it’s nice to speculate on splits.

Wheresthebeach · 22/07/2023 23:32

Beats me! The speculation is mostly in the US press and they print stuff about Elvis and buses on the moon. I hope it’s not true. I have no time for either of them - i can’t stand their brand of entitlement and victim hood but I do hope they have a happy marriage.

daisychain01 · 23/07/2023 05:34

Australians are also having a field day - there seems to be a extraordinary obsession over there about every aspect of H&M's projects and lives in general, and never in a positive way. There are a couple of Female Aussie presenters who absolutely have it in for them, almost like they can't wait for their marriage to fail (not saying it will, but it seems like wishful thinking to them). It's very unpleasant.

I think Harry is mad about Megs, but Megs has a plan that she's undertaking ... survival if anything in that plan depends on her wants and how useful they are to her

Agree with this.

I agree with you too @FloofCloud.
There are two small children involved now though so ............

What a ridiculously mean spirited thing to say. It's one thing not to like a celebrity, its another to invent this kind of narrative about someone you don't know. I think it's a sad reflection of society that people do this to people just because they're famous.

I think they both fell in love. The idea Meghan is some devil-woman who is only using Harry is utterly ludicrous tabloid created nastiness.

Gingerboy22 · 23/07/2023 09:45

I think that Harry will spend his whole life offended like the Duke of Windsor who made his choice but expected life to go on as usual in Villa Windsor in Paris. He was another one that wanted the status and still to have a role in the RF which didn't happen.

sadly along will come posters agreeing with it. nasty

I think it’s really unfair to Meghan, she isn’t a she-devil or whatever trope, it’s Harry that is toxic

And it's Wallis and Meghan who frequently get my sympathy. I don't think they had any idea of what they were getting into, especially Meghan. 'Failure to Stockholm' with the Royal Family is not a crime. Just a bit of a tragedy.

Some of those clips on You Tube from male 'body language experts' and TV pundits going on and on about Meghan's facial expressions could have been made about me. I do the same things with my face - I have a terrible poker face, so you see occasional eye-flashing and lip-chewing with me - and there's quite a 'burn the witch' feel to some of it. Uncomfortable to watch.

Maireas · 23/07/2023 10:27

I don't think Wallis said Meghan are similar at all. The whole Edward and Wallis story has always fascinated me, and I've read widely on the subject. She didn't actually want to be married, she was happy in the role of "mistress" to use an old fashioned term. She was also pro Nazi and a segregationist. She was a close friend of Ribbentrop, which alerted the suspicions of the UK government. The whole saga is fascinating, but in no way compares to Harry and Meghan.

FloofCloud · 23/07/2023 10:52

@Samcro @Iwantcakeeveryday - it's not nasty, it's my observations and life experience. Not everything is as people want it to appear!

I saw one documentary, where I think they were saying that Wallis didn't even want to be mistress - she'd had enough of David/Edward, but felt trapped because of the huge step he took in abdicating. I'm pretty sure it was implying she was still in love with her ex husband or someone else. They are a fascinating pair, though, and I find it chilling to think that, in different circumstances, they may have been monarchs when Hitler was invading his neighbours, and that history (and the world today) might have been so very different.

Maireas · 23/07/2023 11:09

@Ridemeginger , there is evidence that Wallis felt trapped, you're right. She was also very unhappy with the finances and thought he was richer than he was. It was only improved by Edward selling Balmoral and Sandringham to Bertie. As a pair, E&W did not cover themselves in glory during the Nazi era, and Edward was nothing short of a traitor.

Has anyone seen the Madonna film W.E., out of interest? (It was critically panned.) Is it worth the two hours?

LaDeeDa123 · 23/07/2023 11:25

I see on twitter people are laughing at Harry and Meghan because Harry has posted something about the importance of fathers. Neither now speak to their father despite being brought up single-handedly by them. Grifters indeed.

Yes, I saw it and actually thought it was an interesting interpretation. Quite sympathetic to Wallis.

Very short sighted ... as always!

I think Meghan is aware of the similarities between her and Wallis. Didn't she wear a dress similar to Wallis during her Oprah interview? I wonder if she did that on purpose to get under the Queen’s skin?
