Grifters indeed! Can we have a lift Joe?

H&M asked if they could have a lift home on AF1 after HMQs funeral.
Environmentally friendly sure, but makes them look grabby and entitled again. Makes for a good story though.

It was a tragedy Maireas . And I didn’t know it involved their children too until recently. Poor souls.

ThePoshUns · 22/07/2023 12:12

It was horrendous.

Yes, it must live with you forever.
I know that your post didn't reference that, I took it as you meant it, just a joke about Harry and Meghan asking for lifts.

Howsimplywonderful · 22/07/2023 12:16

Charles doesn’t thump his security like Harry does (another saving grace)

Howsimplywonderful · 22/07/2023 12:18

@Maireas

Joe Biden has endured such tragedy.

Hasn't he? I really like him, it's a shame he's just portrayed as a doddery old thing.

Maireas · 22/07/2023 10:35

I think that's all really interesting @MrsFinkelstein - I like the thought of energetic horses getting there a bit quickly like uber drivers on espresso. I didn't know they had ranks! Although I did find out that the regimental goats have them, and the insignia is on their wee cape thing.

The big horses that carry the 2 huge drums are ranked as Majors (literally drum Majors) and are the highest ranked animals in the Army.

Same. When you listen to his speeches and when he's speaking of the cuff he's still very sharp.

His speech (& impromptu remarks at the end) at SOTU when he forced the GOP to backtrack was a masterclass in politics.

Maireas · 22/07/2023 12:28

Fascinating! I saw that Coronation tailoring programme and they had to measure up the goat and leave space for his/her medals!

Also, he has a significant speech impediment which he's done well to overcome, but does explain some errors.

Maireas · 22/07/2023 12:01

@Puzzledandpissedoff - he hasn't lashed out at those who couldn't answer back. He had a grumble in a carriage about timings gone wrong on his big day.

I wasn't just thinking of the carriage incident Maireas; there are numerous other examples of his foul temper on record, including allegations of outright physical attacks (Ken Stronach)

Maireas · 22/07/2023 12:47

Ah, yes. Ken Stronach's story of Charles ripping a sink off the wall and shattering it into a thousand pieces. Charles must have been very strong in his younger days, and I'm surprised it didn't cause some sort of flood.

ThePoshUns · 22/07/2023 11:59

I've just booked to go @Ridemeginger, thanks for the prompt

I hope you enjoy it! I went with a couple of grumpy teens who'd rather be shopping, so will be heading back on my own asap with my validated ticket (definitely get your ticket stamped at the exit if you want to go back for a free visit).

jeffgoldblum · 22/07/2023 13:07

Ah yes @Maireas , was he green too ?
That's what I thought when I read that!

Indeed. Also, I think someone who sells pictures of their employer's bedroom to a tabloid for £100k is not a trustworthy source.

jeffgoldblum · 22/07/2023 13:11

I quite agree! @Maireas , sounds like a believable upstanding man ( not!) .

Oh Lord. What a rabbit hole we could go down. Let’s just say he’s earned his reputation, it’s nothing to do with a speech impediment and it didn’t start recently.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/07/2023 13:28

Let’s just say (Biden’s) earned his reputation, it’s nothing to do with a speech impediment and it didn’t start recently

You're certainly right about it not starting recently, but in fairness it looks pretty clear - to me at least - that he's a very ill man, and would perhaps do better to step away from the public glare before something even worse happens

AliceOlive · 22/07/2023 13:34

Omid did not write any of the abusive things you say appeared under his tweets.

It’s a dog whistle.

AliceOlive · 22/07/2023 13:56

I mean, think about if someone known to dislike H&M mentioned one of their children on a twitter page where people known to despise H&M congregate. We all know exactly what would happen.

Omid left the vile posts sitting long enough for the people to come along and post the predictable vile things. He let them all marinate long enough to get really ugly and then deleted claiming he was the one being treated unfairly.

Yes, I hold him accountable for that. Because I’m not naive.

It feels like elder abuse at this point but the machine around him isn’t going to stop it. And I think he will have another four years.

Millicentsparty · 22/07/2023 14:00

ThePoshUns · 22/07/2023 12:00

Apologies I thought you were referring to Biden's first wife being killed in a road accident.

It seems a strange conclusion to draw when you actually started a thread about Harry asking to for a lift on their plane?

Maireas · 22/07/2023 14:03

Indeed, @Millicentsparty .

It's not elder abuse. He's chosen to stand for one of the most powerful positions in the world and he sometimes drifts off in the middle of a sentence. Sometimes it feels like he doesn't even know where he is. Of course the US press, in fact the world's press, is going to pick up on that.

I'd never seen Prince Charles as an actionman before, but when I read that story that he could rip sinks from walls, pulling out drilled in screws and breaking pipes, I thought he soundly quite the strongman. It sounded quite an impressive feat.
