Grifters indeed! Can we have a lift Joe?

H&M asked if they could have a lift home on AF1 after HMQs funeral.
Environmentally friendly sure, but makes them look grabby and entitled again. Makes for a good story though.

Given the short time Harry was in the U.K. and the fact he was seated behind Anne’s wonderful hat , I don’t think he will have any inside info .

Well I think the book is about the wider issues around the RF and their future. I imagine he will have some stuff to say about the Coronation being lack lustre/waste of money/Charles not fit for the job/controversy over Camila’s title/Charles being grumpy/the Wales’ “late” stuff mentioned above/ the will they or won’t they attend stuff with the Sussexes etc etc. It would have been a bit odd for him not to cover the Coronation in a book that will undoubtedly be hard on the monarchy and the line of succession as currently populated. However, whether he gets any “special insights” into it all remains to be seen. I think I remember one talking head saying OS has based himself in Montecito to write this book, but I don’t know if that’s correct.

ArcaneWireless · 22/07/2023 10:22

If only they’d asked for a lift in Jill Biden’s car…

Ridemeginger · 22/07/2023 10:27

I think the “late” thing led to speculation that Charles was angry in the carriage - feeding in to comments about his fitness to lead and speculation about what sort of relationship he has with William and Catherine (rivalry or supportive). It’s just a tiresome nothing burger imo.

Roussette · 22/07/2023 10:30

I don't agree with all the daft speculation about them not getting on, but he was angry in the carriage. And sounding off about it.

ArcaneWireless · 22/07/2023 10:31

Surely that should be a ‘tiresome nothing HAMburger’ ginger? 😉

Maireas · 22/07/2023 10:18

You're right, @MrsFinkelstein .
The horses rehearsed the route during the night. In the daytime, for the actual event, they were a bit brisker so C and C arrived slightly earlier than planned.
It didn't really cause a problem, and it wasn't the Wales' fault. Blame frisky horses!

I loved watching all the horses, esp the "frisky" ones. It was fascinating all the information about them - I never knew they all had ranks!

(You probably already know, but) apparently there were a few more frisky horses on display than normal because several horses were new and with covid curtailing events for the prev 3yrs they hadn't had the exposure to big events. And the crowds & noise were unexpectedly huge.

Plenty of very skilled riders on display.

Biggest day of the bloke's life and the timings went wrong. He had a bit of a chunter in the carriage. He didn't rant at the Archbishop or Floella Benjamin.

Course he didn't!

I don't think Charles's poker face is very good

Maireas · 22/07/2023 10:35

I think that's all really interesting @MrsFinkelstein - I like the thought of energetic horses getting there a bit quickly like uber drivers on espresso. I didn't know they had ranks! Although I did find out that the regimental goats have them, and the insignia is on their wee cape thing.

No indeed. Not everyone is good at the art of emotional concealment.

Some like their's with a side of relish and plenty of cheese, others a large, sour pickle.

I actually think Charles probably has a very good poker face, considering how much he's on public display and duty. I imagine the facade drops at times of high emotion, stress and tiredness, which makes him human.

As an aside, I went on the Buckingham Palace tour last week and saw the Coronation display. Camilla's dress and cloak in particular were absolutely stunning.

ThePoshUns · 22/07/2023 11:44

I saw some photos of the embroidery on the cloak, looked beautiful.

Can you elaborate?

Maireas · 22/07/2023 11:52

? There was only Jill and Finnegan in the car, I think there was space?

Very possibly, but what a shame he doesn't avoid lashing out at those in no position to answer back

Though obviously it could well result in instant dismissal I can't imagine being one of his numerous staff and never asking just who the hell he thinks he is, but then I wouldn't put myself in their position in the first place, no matter what lustre it might add to a CV

ThePoshUns · 22/07/2023 11:59

I've just booked to go @Ridemeginger, thanks for the prompt

Apologies I thought you were referring to Biden's first wife being killed in a road accident.

@Puzzledandpissedoff - he hasn't lashed out at those who couldn't answer back. He had a grumble in a carriage about timings gone wrong on his big day.

ArcaneWireless · 22/07/2023 12:04

Oh god no. I didn’t even think about that.

Sp very sorry if anyone else thought I meant that. I absolutely didn’t. It was in reference - and a bit cheekily so - to the thread title.

I can be close to the bone sometimes but Not like that.

I am very sorry.

On this occasion, yes, he didn't lash out at those who couldn't answer back and FWIW I think it's wrong to use lipreading techniques to pick up on that whinge.

Let his face and manner speak for itself. Like inkwellgate!

He obviously does lash out at those who can't answer back... it's documented but the saving grace is, he's not as bad as his younger brother Andrew who makes staff walk up three flights of stairs to move the curtains half an inch
