Kate and Williams children overexposed

It is sad to see the children appearing more and more at public events. Yesterday George and Charlotte appeared at wilmbledon and Charlotte gave a player an official coin. Today the children are all over the press.

A few days ago they appeared at the Royal international Air tattoo.
There has been criticism before on the board at the number of appearances thr children make in public. This was said to be temporary due to the death of Elizabeth and Charles as the new king, but it quite clearly is not true.

The children are being increasingly taken to events where William and Kate are working, to help boost the popularity of the Royal family. The children gain nothing from it. I am sure they would have enjoyed the air tattoo far more without a crowd of photographers taking lots of photos of the children.

It's sad to see the children used in this way. So much for giving them a normal childhood.

William and Harry along with Bea and Eug were hugely over exposed as children. Paps everywhere and to be honest the parents too were happy to have them ‘pose.’ Wales children hardly ever appear anywhere. But at a certain time they have to do more stuff. This is their future. Going to the tennis is a way nice thing to do.

"But at a certain time they have to do more stuff. This is their future."

I agree with this. Sadly, they are not normal children and given that 7 out of 11 remaining working royals are over 75, they won't have the luxury to have a smooth transition into royal life. William became a full working royal in his mid 30s and let's not forget how he was criticised for years in the media for being lazy, not prepared for royal life and constantly compared to other heirs across Europe. When George reaches that age, Charles, Camilla, Anne, Tim, the Gloucesters and Princess Alexandra will be dead. This is why Charles' vision of a slimmed down monarchy doesn't make any sense. The monarchy is already more slimmed down than expected and it will get worse in the upcoming years

I think Eugenie looks like Andrew, bit has the Queen Mother's jawline.

Andrew looks like the Queen mums side.

Housewife2010 · 21/07/2023 07:17

But when Charles was planning a slimmed down monarchy gevwasnt expecting Harry & his future wife to leave.

Agree . I seem to recall that the “plan “ was for C and C plus W and K to be front and centre with H and his wife ( whoever that was) in a supportive role . Clearly that didn’t appeal to H and M. I am not sure it was ever the intention for E and S to be so central however they have stepped up and carry out their roles very well . As does Anne who probably will work until she drops !

The other thing is that Charles is already 75 and he be and Camilla whilst well are still already on the way to 80 and need to pace themselves. William and Kate are already going to have to take the burden of most of the overseas tours for example.

I'm always surprised when I see pictures of W and H at how completely different they look for brothers, even when really young. I'm not doubting anyone's parentage - I can see both parents in them in different ways, but I've never seen two siblings look so completely different.

George and Charlotte look like really happy children at the tennis, I don't know why anyone would be worried about two children having a day out with their parents, and as others have said; it gets them used to it.

I have three children eldest dark hair bright blue eyes different dad to younger two middle one is dirty blond with bright blue eyes youngest is dark hair blue eyes people wrongly assume they all have different parents or that the eldest and youngest share a father genetics are strange

I don't think there will be much in the way of traditional overseas tours after the K&W debacle. Visits, yes, but not how it was done before.

I think C&C want as quiet a life as possible. Even Tom Bower, a huge Royalist, said they were tired and not wanting to do much. He hinted at Camilla's health not being that good.

I haven't read the full thread but I wanted to add discussing this issue and showing examples of how other royals goes about this plus discussing why it is done. I will say for those who need to jump on the meghan defence that this you tuber is not a meghan fan so if you can't bear that perhaps stay clear.

I grew up in Scandinavia and I can recall.photos of Harry,William, Euginie and Beatrice regular in the news. I also recall
Victoria, Carl Phillip, Madeleine, Hakon, Martha Louise,Hakon, Frederick and Joachim regularly in the news (the Scandinavian Royal children well now adults)

Heavy stuff for a kid to carry but unfortunately this is what's considered normal now. I think it's great that William and Kate are doing their best to minimize/manage their kids from being exposed to the level of media interest in them. If Charlotte in any way has Diana’s charisma and looks as she gets older, she hopefully will be able to manage the media attention thanks to her parents guidance.

Princess Charlotte is fashion influencer at the age of eight...

It might seem hard to credit, but eight-year-old  Princess Charlotte is already a significant influence in the world of children's clothes.

Did some people actually believe the PR ‘slimmed down ‘ monarchy lie?

Note he didn’t say the Windsors would take less money?? Did you notice that part?

Now in the midst of the UK sliding into semi failed state status with no attempt to hide the corruption riddled establishment ( which the royals reinforce) Charles feels confident that his almost 50 % pay rise will go unprotested.

The demographic which supports the royals is aging out.
They won’t dare ask the general population if citizens are happy to keep the Windsors in unearned luxury
I wonder why ?

Barbadossunset · 22/07/2023 10:54

Novella why don’t you start campaigning for a referendum for keeping or abolishing royal family?

Novella why don’t you start campaigning for a referendum for keeping or abolishing royal family?

Why do you assume I’m not?

And surely royalists should join me - let’s have some actual data instead of paid for ‘ polls’ in tabloids and propaganda

Barbadossunset · 22/07/2023 12:33

Sorry - I shouldn’t have assumed that.
How is your campaign going? Do you have a rough idea of when the referendum will happen?

Roussette · 22/07/2023 13:09

What a silly question.

No Government will touch Monarchy ending, it's a political hot potato. But at least Labour are talking of reforms to the HoL which underpins it all, that's a start.

It’ll be interesting to see who this benefits in the end. The HoL didn’t block the recent migration bill but they gave it a good go.

I think loads of brexiters now want it scrapped. Whether it is good for Labour / left in the end I’m not sure.

Barbadossunset · 22/07/2023 13:22

Rousette maybe then you should tell Novella that she’s silly since she implied she’s campaigning for their abolition.

How is it a pay rise when he doesn't take a wage? The Royal committee that decided on this has said it's for the material upkeep of the buildings that are owned by the Crown Estate. It's all detailed in their report.

You know full well no one can campaign for a referendum, just like that. There have been many petitions for this sort of thing. They get signatures. It goes nowhere. 10 petitions on abolishing the Monarchy were rejected and there's countless other petitions running or ran. Some got few signatures, some got upwards of 30,000

The fact there are so many frequent petitions about this means there is public feeling on it.

Republic.org do well on this. The best route is to follow them and what they are doing but challenging a single poster to organise a Referendum is ummmm faintly ridiculous!

Novella replied ‘how do you know I’m not?’, the implication being that she might be.
Re a ‘single poster’ I’m presuming she has friends who feel the same way.
