Kate and Williams children overexposed

It is sad to see the children appearing more and more at public events. Yesterday George and Charlotte appeared at wilmbledon and Charlotte gave a player an official coin. Today the children are all over the press.

A few days ago they appeared at the Royal international Air tattoo.
There has been criticism before on the board at the number of appearances thr children make in public. This was said to be temporary due to the death of Elizabeth and Charles as the new king, but it quite clearly is not true.

The children are being increasingly taken to events where William and Kate are working, to help boost the popularity of the Royal family. The children gain nothing from it. I am sure they would have enjoyed the air tattoo far more without a crowd of photographers taking lots of photos of the children.

It's sad to see the children used in this way. So much for giving them a normal childhood.

Can’t say I feel particularly concerned for their mental health. Poor things 🙄 I’m

So Michael Higgins. President of Ireland, isn't doing a job either? How would you classify his role, then?

if You think it’s a job fine

Charles goes to Birkhall in the summer

Well... it says in the media he will be spending it at Balmoral like his mother used to. he wants to carry on her tradition

You don't think being President of Ireland is a job?

juldan · 18/07/2023 18:19

Really vile parents. The children look absolutely traumatised (NOT), especially Charlotte.

Of course it is, you are deliberately mis reading me.
im talking about the royal family in the royal family topic.

The President and the RF have practically the same role and duties. Why do you view one as a job and the other one not?

Samcro · 18/07/2023 18:59

I have no knowledge about the Irish president. Have no opinion.
nice try

Howsimplywonderful · 18/07/2023 19:06

I do have an opinion.

i have spoken before that the role is quite similar in my opinion, the president holds a role which is supposed to be ‘above’ politics.

The presidents award is very similar to the DOE awards

The cost per person for the presidents office is quite similar to the cost per head

The president signs legislation into law which has been approved by parliment (Dail)

You just expressed an opinion when you said being President of Ireland is a job.

You: Of course it is
^^
How can you say that if you have no idea what being President entails?

WimpoleHat · 18/07/2023 19:13

I think K and w choose events wisely. The children are likely to enjoy them and they will unconsciously take in how their parents behave - chatting to officials, trying to put ball kids at ease, showing empathy to players. Hopefully it will make the DC feel reasonably positive that this is in their future.

Agree with @StartupRepair on this - I think they’ve thought this through carefully. They go to events which might actually appeal to them at the ages that they are - and learn how the “Royal thing” works in practice (as, let’s face it, they’re going to have to get used to it.

Wtf does the president of Ireland have to do with anything? I'm sure he does more than visit places and wave though

Not really. Just like the king, his position is ceremonial head of the country, with very limited, discretionary powers. He represents the country when speaking with foreign nations, he enforces laws the govt passes (in which he has no involvement) and he's CIC of the armed forces in times of war. Pretty much same as Charles.

What things are you pretty sure the Irish President does that the UK head of state doesn't?

Roussette · 18/07/2023 19:34

At least there's only one Head of State. Not a whole extended family. Living in splendour.

But you watched the tennis finals. Kate brought glamour and a sense of occasion as did King Felipe of Spain. It's a spectacle you want to get rid of and others don't. Harriet Harman doling out the prizes. Would that be better?

Why does it matter if they're living in splendour? The Queen used to live at Buckingham Palace during the week and she didn't like it. So she wasn't getting pleasure from it. Does that male living in splendour more acceptable to you, that it didn't make her happy? 😄 And she had to entertain all types of people in these places of splendour, and they're not people of her own choosing.

I guess the President of Ireland does meet Irish people, it'd be pretty pathetic if he didn't, but there are only 5m people. In the UK there are 67m. So to get round as many places as possible, to meet as many people as possible, it's good to have a larger number of family members to maximise the numbers of visits.

You obviously dislike Harriet Harman....
Brave woman.

I watch Wimbledon to see the tennis, I don't care a fig about Royals there! There was plenty of famous people if anyone wants to focus on that... James Norton, Brad Pitt, Daniel Craig etc...
lucky sods with those seats!

I assumed it was, trying not to offend Irish people.

anyways
the royal family will be away for a while

derxa · 18/07/2023 19:49

Why does it matter if they're living in splendour? I agree. Heads of state all over the world live in splendour including your beloved Macron

Well at least they can vote him out if he's shit and I doubt all his family members are paid to help him with all the smiling and waving and signing of bills, now I'm not sure if he's exempt from iht or works things so he can fleece as much money as possible from the tax payer like the Royal family but I doubt it

If I lived in Ireland I might have an opinion about their president but as I don't it's not really my business

Roussette · 18/07/2023 19:50

Why does it matter if they're living in splendour?

Quite a lot actually! But if you don't understand that, there's not a lot of point me trying to discuss it with you...

I don't get your point about the Queen dislking Buckingham Palace, sorry.

That's a stretch!

That actually made me laugh! He's better than Le Pen, that's all I'll say.

Of course Heads of State live in splendour... not sure they have 27 palaces, royal estates, and castles though!
Oh.. and 1,500 staff !
