Kate and Williams children overexposed

It is sad to see the children appearing more and more at public events. Yesterday George and Charlotte appeared at wilmbledon and Charlotte gave a player an official coin. Today the children are all over the press.

A few days ago they appeared at the Royal international Air tattoo.
There has been criticism before on the board at the number of appearances thr children make in public. This was said to be temporary due to the death of Elizabeth and Charles as the new king, but it quite clearly is not true.

The children are being increasingly taken to events where William and Kate are working, to help boost the popularity of the Royal family. The children gain nothing from it. I am sure they would have enjoyed the air tattoo far more without a crowd of photographers taking lots of photos of the children.

It's sad to see the children used in this way. So much for giving them a normal childhood.

The family did leave the royal box twice too as was alluded to by Andrew Castle.

Andrew Castle is a blabbermouth, his commentary was appalling in more ways than one!

Most people watch the tennis for the tennis. I watched it and honestly didn’t pay any attention to the Royal Box. I did notice that Brad Pitt was looking quite handsome but that was my only distraction from the tennis.

I do remember once having to be on a Sunday audio call and my former boss didn’t dial in. Someone spotted him in a box at Wimbeldon so we wouldn’t be hearing from him 😀 saved us all an afternoon waiting for a call

It seemed OK in terms of "exposure" at Wimbledon. I wondered whether there was some sort of agreement with the BBC - showing them maybe a couple of times a set only!

@AliceOlive Not sure what you mean be "weaponising sensitivity." You're the one who seems to be taking the word as a criticism!

I’m in good company so crack on.

H&M’s children are much younger. They were out in US at a parade last week. Thankfully mostly left to themselves.

I am not sure what strategy you mean.

I saw a picture today of Meghan as a baby compared to the photo of Lilibet they released. OMG what adorable children, both mother and daughter. They do look so much alike. So I can’t wait to see more of their kids if it happens. Can appreciate its not the time for it now.

I saw those photos too. I thought they both looked just like Meghan’s Dad.

I agree completely about his commentating style, but I’m not sure why he’s a blabbermouth for mentioning that the royals left a couple of times. They did 🤷‍♀️

That is not what I meant. As I said... he was appalling in more ways than one.

I really don't want to repeat one thing that really stuck in the craw that he said about a fellow presenter, because it means I am just as bad as him at divulging something he should not have done during his 'commentary'.

Oh ok. I was a bit 🤷‍♀️as to what it had to do with the Royals leaving the royal box is all 😂😂

I agree Rousette if it was the information I am thinking of , I did think it in very poor taste , even though the jnformation has been widely covered in the press, that does not mean he should be discussing it during commentary. Honestly he is a dreadful commentator I wish they would get rid , much prefer Andrew Cotter

Yes, and gave more detail than I heard before. He doesn't know when to shut up does he...
He waffles all through every point, he was doing my 'ead in! And so patronising to Alcaraz. The Kid. The kid who won't go away, etc.

Anyway, sorry... off topic here...

GerbilsForever24 · 18/07/2023 14:29

Oh, but that woman who interviewed Alcatraz at the end was also patronising. The man must think everyone in England is agist or something. Her patronising little, "oooh, and did you know that you are now a member of Wimbledon for life" (the "you lucky lucky boy" was implied) had me screaming at the tv.

Yfory · 18/07/2023 14:32

Queens jubilee, the death of the Queen, the coronation of Charles, its the summer.

Seems very likely to me that in September there will be Back to School photos of the kids and after that almost nothing for ages except a photo at Christmas. the last couple of years have been very significant for the Royals so it was inevitable the kids would be visible a lot. I think it unlikely they will be so much after this summer.

I'm a Djok fan (which is against the MN rulebook) but Andrew Castle's brown nosing of NJ was ridiculous. Him and John Inverdale should be sent to a desert island somewhere and they can bore each other.

Normally not, actually. In the past we’ve just had pictures of the individual children’s first day of school when they start Reception. Given they’ve all been at the same school, that meant their older siblings were pictured too on each first day. George still has a couple of years of KS2 yet, so so wouldn’t have thought there’ll be pictures this year.

Totally agree! Djokovic is stupendous, a world class athlete and to be admired but Castle's ridiculous adoration of him was nauseating, especially after 'the incident' lol
Shows he's human... okaaaaay!

I want commentators who you barely notice but you pick up the odd comment from, not endless drivel in my ear like a buzzing wasp

I'm a fan too. I'm not alone😅

Yes. The smashing of the racket I found disturbing and meant to be intimidating I thought. Wrong. Not human.

This is the only thing about him I dislike but I used to travel frequently to tournaments in 2011-2016 and I've met him several times and honestly each time, he's always been extremely nice. One time, he even stayed 30-40 minutes after a match at the French Open, outside of PC just to make sure everyone got a photo and an autograph and all the people I've talked to who have had interactions with him has had the same experience.

Yes, it's always 6-8 weeks up at Balmoral with some other hidden destination in amongst that. Depending if the rest of the family decamp up there.

I wonder if Charles will use Balmoral like the Queen did. I doubt it. He has his own bolthole at Highgrove.

The children are on holiday though as their school is now out. Not sure what the quote marks are meant to signify?

Samcro · 18/07/2023 16:13

i use them as I don't think its a job, (not talking about the children)
obviously I mean W&K and C&C.

But Highgrove is open for garden tours through the summer so I don't know how much time he'd want to spend there.

So Michael Higgins. President of Ireland, isn't doing a job either? How would you classify his role, then?

Charles goes to Birkhall in the summer

Gracewithoutend · 18/07/2023 16:47

It does make sense not to go to Highgrove because the tours go right up to the house walls. Although the guide said he's there often that you might think! But he's,always, said how much he loves Scotland so I'm sure he looks forward to his time there.
