Are they considered close friends? And Gayle, Oprah's bestie, is she still on side H&M...she appears to have gone quiet.
Or has the now known lies from their Oprah interview changed their friendship I wonder?
It all seemed so pally but did it stand the test of time?

@Fluffypuppy1 I don't subscribe to the view the intention as soon as she met harry was to leave and set up their own 'court' in Hollywood but I do think it was the plan when she realised what royal life actually meant. Harry wanted nothing more than to get away but literally was clueless on how it would work. Meghan was his get out of jail card for sure.

So yes it was in the planning long before anything was said to the family, hence the half arsed plan of being funded by the taxpayer but living their lives as Hollywood royalty.

Says a lot about the stupidity and entitlement of both of them that they thought the queen would agree

The 2 year tantrum and the mud slinging at the royal family was simple revenge because they didn't get their own way.

According to the NF series they were filming/recording from a very early point.

Like most people theses days they filmed aspects of their life. Netflix were not there at the beginning though.

Exactly. They were filming difficult aspects of their life for later production somewhere. We all film aspects of our lives... holidays, birthdays, fun moments but it's rare to film as part of a life narrative covering distressing areas of your life. If I'm feeling upset about something my first instinct is not to get out my camera phone!

I think you are being naive if you don’t think that part of the reason they were recording so much of their private lives ( kissing in the kitchen etc) was with an eye on future money making schemes .

Is that why you and everyone else in the world is doing it? I am sure Kate and William have their own phones and Kate is known to take a lot of photos isn't she? Everyone does it, but when Meghan does it, its twisted to turn into something devious or some plan she had to take Harry away. Why do you judge her so differently to everyone else?

Because I - and most people- do it to have precious memories not make money .

@Mylovelygreendress So true.

Which is, I am sure, why they do it too. Then they choose which ones they will share publicly. Plenty of people share their photos and videos online and some of them make money too. Quite a few people in fact, make a living from sharing their life or story online. You probably watch some of them. Plenty of reality tv shows also. Do you think they're all wrong too? There's literally millions doing it. Kate and William share photos of their children, it keeps them in the public eye and interest, without it the public wouldn't keep propping them up. They don't need to sell it to Netflix because they already sell it to us, we pay them for it.

ajandjjmum · 07/07/2023 10:46

costacoughee · 07/07/2023 11:15

So H&M did film themselves with an eye to making money in the future? Whether as YouTube stars or something more lucrative?

No, some people do so intentionally as I have just pointed out, and you probably watch loads of them despite saying you think its wrong. Most of us do it for memories and sharing with others, and sometimes later on some might share some of it as part of their job or business. Its not an issue for anyone else, so why this special scrutiny when Meghan does it? What's different about her that makes you judge her differently compared to literally everyone else, including the royals? she's held to a completely different standard and I keno why some people do that, why do you?

costacoughee · 07/07/2023 11:31

@Iwantcakeeveryday I do it to enhance my family life. They did it to tear into Harry's family, destroy their reputation and to earn millions of dollars in the process. If that's morally acceptable then it's fine.

How does it 'enhance your family life' though?
Your view of why they did it is your view, but it isn't unusual for her to make videos of her life. You are therefore suggesting that the entire time, from when she met him, she planned it all just to destroy Harrys family and earn millions by selling it? That's quite a reach, surely you see that? She simply did what everyone does. The fact Netflix years later wanted their story doesn't change that fact. I think its absolutely morally acceptable to take videos and photos and share them either freely or for profit if someone wishes to. I don't think there should be different rules for certain people. I think we should all be entitled to own our own story and tell it as we see fit. You didn't answer my question about why you hold her to a different standard but then perhaps you don't want to share the reason.

costacoughee · 07/07/2023 11:39

@Iwantcakeeveryday I don't hold anyone to a different standard. I never said I did. I'm afraid I don't understand your point. Selling intimate moments to the highest bidder is despicable no matter who does it.

LimeCheesecake · 07/07/2023 11:52

William and Kate don’t make any money from their family photos they release.

im not convinced they give photos for free to keep the public interested, more they are aware certain sections of the public are batshit crazy about the royals and as such will want regular updates on the children. William and Kate have limited options if they want to continue to have their public role (and their dcs to inherit public roles), they can either regularly parade their kids at official events before the cameras, or they can accept paps following the kids around for photos (including school), or they can provide photos, hoping that will keep the press happy and at least this way control which photos are released. (Everyone looking neat and colour coordinated and happy. Looking posh but not too out of touch/abnormal etc)

Oprah was at their wedding so surely a friend. And I believe at one point lived next door in Montecito. Aware it's big estates but still...

The Clooneys were at the wedding, they openly said they’d never met the couple!

No, they didn't and their agent has on-the-record confirmed that the stories that they'd never met were false.

But this is a bit of invention that seemingly won't go away

You’ll have to provide a source as you’re the only person who believes this… so I think you’re probably incorrect.

Huh? No they are not the only person to believe it! The Clooneys have said this themselves and Amal organised Meghan's baby shower.

costacoughee · 07/07/2023 12:56

Why would Hollywood a listers have known Meghan as a friend prior to the wedding? She lived in Canada for years and didn't attend any red carpet events. The influencer website was hardly high profile. Harry may have known the couple as he mixed in higher circles. The couples seem to have become friends now though

howdoesyourgardengrowinmay · 07/07/2023 15:19

I think the Clooney connection is via Eugenis husband who worked for George's drinks brand, and Harry is close to Eugenie, so they may have met socially before the wedding.

Who sets up the phone on more than one occasion to take themselves kissing whilst sat on the kitchen counter top. Surely it's not like kissing is an out of the ordinary activity for them.... Or is it?

Howsimplywonderful · 07/07/2023 17:06

I think Misan Harriman took most photos.

Welcome to modern society where people take photos of everything, often of themselves in a couple kissing even! It's really not unusual and I am surprised people haven;t seen this before. My DH and I have photos of every few years doing the same pose, me kissing his cheek. We have at least 15 of the same thing. Most people comment on the numerous photos I am laughing as he whispers in my ear instead though! not staged, somehow it must be what we do a lot! Nothing naughty btw Grace, just some silly thing he thinks will make me laugh. He thinks he could do stand up but I think I am the only one that laughs at his jokes 😂
