Are they considered close friends? And Gayle, Oprah's bestie, is she still on side H&M...she appears to have gone quiet.
Or has the now known lies from their Oprah interview changed their friendship I wonder?
It all seemed so pally but did it stand the test of time?

It's difficult to know, but a lot of friendships in Hollywood are transactional. You will sometimes see a celeb 'close friend' defending another and it's because they share the same agent, rather than a close bond. It's a strange world, and I don't envy anyone living in it.

They remind me of the Real Housewives of <insert franchise here>, ostensibly the very best of friends, go on holiday together, support each other’s business ventures etc, but between tv appearances have nothing whatever to do with one another.

Like the RHs, their “friendship” is based entirely on what it can deliver. And like the RHs, they will drop each other like hot potatoes if reputation or business suffers from the connection.

It is quite sad that this is seen as aspirational 😒that fame is seen as a goal in its own right, rather than doing something you love as a career, which might make you famous

I think the whole cabaret made Oprah's interviewing skills look a bit poor.

She wasn't delighted about that.

Must admit to losing respect for Oprah after the interview.
Maybe O regrets it?

I dont think they were ever friends. Oprah saw an opportunity to get an interview that would have worldwide interest. H&M saw an opportunity to tell their tale of woe. They suited each other.

I saw it reported recently that Oprah, like most A listers have stepped back from associations with H&M

They're not and never were friends.

Oprah laughed all the way to the bank. H&M who did the gig for free not so much.

Oprah was at their wedding so surely a friend. And I believe at one point lived next door in Montecito. Aware it's big estates but still...

Why would they have people they'd never met at their wedding unless necessary Royal protocol expected certain heads of state etc were invited.

They would have been invited as 'room meat' and expected to get a return from rubbing shoulders with royal riff raff.

When I saw Oprah amongst the quests my first thoughts were 'what's she doing there' ?
Now we know.

I think Gayle King was the only one to stand up for them after the car chase. Not that she agreed with the terminology, just that she said we should consider their feelings.
But King is always going to keep them close because they're a source and always a possible in to anything happening in the royal family.
But are they all bestest buds? Yeah, no. I don't believe that for a moment. They're all about making connections and introductions.

Not just at the wedding. They put people they'd never met in the quire in the family section and left friends they'd known for years in the main body. Who does that?

Have the Clooneys actually said that

So they did know them before the wedding.

I don't think Harrys godmother, Carolyn Bartholomew would have lied that they'd said that. I think they probably meant that they didn't know them as in they'd met but they weren't friends.

I think it took a while for the penny to drop with Oprah, GK, and the rest of the US entertainment industry, that H&M's 'in' with the royal family of the UK has been cut off at the source. Completely. That's it folks.

Not only that, but some of the royal family members may have long memories.

The comment from George Clooney sounds like one of his jokey remarks to the press that he absolutely doesn’t mean. Having been to press junkets and press conferences for films, he comes out with mock insults delivered in a deadpan way, about people he clearly likes and is close to. The press run with the comment, often reporting it out of context, and the readership or viewers understandably think he was being serious. The comment gets recycled, cropping up in future articles and gains even more traction.

Regarding Oprah, I have no idea about whether she is actually friends with M&H. I take everything that’s reported by anyone about the majority of people in the entertainment world, with a pinch of salt, as everyone and his/her PR company and agent has an agenda. It seems a truly strange industry to be part of.

I think it was Oprah who expressed surprise after the wedding at where she was seated. It seemed they were acquaintances rather than friends & she certainly wasn't expecting a VIP seat

It was Amal that, on being questioned by Harry's Godmother how well they knew H&M? admitted neither she nor George had ever met them. 😂

Because its their wedding they can invite whomever they like. 🙄 why does it matter to you if they are friends with the Clooneys or not?
