@Iwantcakeeveryday - aahhh it's nothing to do with the self-centred garbage that was made by MM and PH then, it's about a misogynistic racist then ... righto

It was Meghan's podcast, and no I do not think it was self centred. I am saying someone like him, also a grifter and someone who has had a string of public spats and made slanderous comments about others, while also having a problem with employing black people, while actually pretending publicly he's some kind of hero for employing so many, is not someone whose opinion should be given much weight. Especially as he's clearly trying to deflect attention from Spotify itself having to let go hundreds of people and not having ever made a profit, including on podcasts while he is actually head of Podcast innovation and monetising . They're currently running at a loss of millions. He's picking up his cheque and is not delivering. He knew making awful comments about them would deflect from this. He is unbelievably unprofessional.

FloofCloud · 19/06/2023 14:37

@Iwantcakeeveryday - wow they're almost the same person then!
I personally thought the podcasts were self centred, solipsistic garbage ... much like everything else they do and say

Iwantcakeeveryday · 19/06/2023 14:40

right

AutumnCrow · 19/06/2023 14:41

Could posters please leave the children out of it.

Howsimplywonderful · 19/06/2023 14:42

@Iwantcakeeveryday

the grifting probably refers to the fact that her staff did most of the work - guests mentioned they were interviewed by staff not Meghan and an ex Archwell member posted some comments to that effect too with some choice comments

Since John Galliano lead Dior, there has been a rivalry between the designers and then ultimately, the houses of Dior and McQueen. First Alexander McQueen felt second fiddle at Givenchy because John got the lion’s share of the money from the parent company LVMH for his Dior collections. Then Alexander left to set up his own company and for a good while outshone and outsold Dior, he then sold a large share of his business to Gucci which deepened the rift.
Dior tried to get Sarah Burton to leave McQueen in 2016 and work as their creative director but she has stayed loyal to McQueen after Alexander’s death.
Interesting then that as the Princess of Wales supports and wears McQueen that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex choose to wear and support Dior. IMO the story of this signing is probably true for this reason alone. It makes sense.

I never know any of this kind of detail. I can quite believe though the fashion world is cutthroat and weird. A lot of its values seem very damaging to women and girls.

Rebecca Sananes complained about this Hollywood Reporter article

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/digital/most-powerful-people-in-podcasting-1235228738/amp/

in this video

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJQE5oP7/

Her complaint is about the article and how the power players are the celebrities, executives and agents and there is no mentions of producers who Sananes believes (and rightly so) do the hard work. Because of the podcasts she said she created (she mentioned 2) - it was spun by many as an attack on Meghan (not mentioned in the article) and strangely not on Kara Swisher - who was actually mentioned in the article. Meghan indeed interviewed the celebrities in her podcast and the producers interviewed the contributing guests - this is pretty much standard for these kinds of things and would surpirse many in the podcast industry that they would be considered grifters for doing this.

Clockwise from left: Emma Chamberlain, Conan O’Brien, Jemele Hill, Alex Cooper, Joe Rogan.

It really doesn't matter to some people who Bill Simmons is or the context in which he said what he said. All that matters is that someone high profile has said something negative about H&M and feeds into their narrative of things going wrong for them.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 19/06/2023 14:56

@skullbabe of course

Iwantcakeeveryday · 19/06/2023 14:58

@skullbabe and yes of course standard for producers to interview guests too but of course when Meghan's podcast does what everyone else's does, shes lazy.

Or perhaps they were weeping because they could not contain their adoration? 😆

While also collapsed on the floor perhaps???

MrsFinkelstein · 19/06/2023 19:44

The Telegraph are saying Dior are denying it.

Will be interesting to see what develops - she may not be an official "brand ambassador", but maybe it will just be a more informal arrangement??

The article details the long connection Dior has with the Royals.

Meghan Markle - Duchess of Dior?
Elior · 19/06/2023 19:55

Oh how embarrassing! The Law Of Attraction has it's limitations, obviously,

And I think the Mail already has a whole lot more on this, as predicted over the weekend.

'Duchess of Disappointment' here we come ...

Dumpruntime · 19/06/2023 20:00

God that’s so embarrassing for them if it’s true . They didn’t even deny it, waited for Dior to do it

Howsimplywonderful · 19/06/2023 20:20

Their PR company are shaming them with pieces like these. They’ll be a laughing stock unless they can pull something out of the bag now

SaxSick · 19/06/2023 20:23

Howsimplywonderful · 19/06/2023 08:21

I know the film, but it sounds like the OP is referring to Meghan as smelly, imagine if a poster critical of Meghan’s actions had the name 😀

Exactly.

The Telegraph article says the Sussexes' spokesman also denied the tie-up, tbf

Howsimplywonderful · 19/06/2023 20:24

They’d better hope these things don’t happen in threes and Netflix give them the heave ho

SaxSick · 19/06/2023 20:25

skullbabe · 19/06/2023 10:29

It's such a shame that M isn't enjoying her time with her children while they are so young as time flies so quickly.

How do you know M is not enjoying her time with her children? What an odd thing to say.

How do you know she is? She could say you know what I am going to take the next 3 years or whatever to spend most of my time with my children. I don't need to be in the public eye. I don't need the money. I'm never going to have this time again. It's not unusual for people to decide this - men or women.

The original Mail article (was it only yesterday?!) quoted a source from WME, amongst many.
