It doesn't surprise me. There was a wonderful, and truly bizarre, documentary on BBC iplayer (I think) about Monaco during lock down. I genuinely couldn't tell whether the narrator was taking all the rich people at face value, or taking the p*ss.

Anyway, one of the social movers and shakers was a 'Princess of the Two Sicilies' - which hasn't existed for about a century, but she and her husband used the title and everyone around them seemed to accept it. Aren't there Romanovs who still call themselves Prince/ss? Over a century after the end of the monarchy. Very odd. It obviously matters to them.

Oh I watched that, @Milcar - it was extraordinary! Princess Beatrice of Bourbon - Two- Sicilies! Europe is littered with these defunct titles, thousands of them still in use.

If the British Monarch was no longer the HoS, the Royal Family members and all the aristocracy, as far as I can tell, would be the same. Titles without a cause. Nothing revelatory about this of course. The Royal Family etc would have thought about this long before any of us.

Harry and Meghan really are the gifts that keep on giving.
They have made themselves a laughing stock and all their own work.
Will they ever be taken seriously again?

I think the later series of The Crown will be written soon, coming up to the present day - and they will be paid out the contract to consult on that. That series has made Netflix a fortune and they'll make even more with the added 'authenticity' of H & M somewhere behind the scenes and it will mean millions more tuning in.

No, I didn't mean they were, just that I think that they will be, and Netflix will do a deal to make sure it happens.

And FWIW I think Zoe Kravitz would be excellent as Meghan.

Well we already know that parts of the Crown are all a crock of shit so H and M's consults would fit right in 😂

I watched the earlier seasons but only managed one or two episode of the latest season, I loved the earlier ones, but just lost interest in the later ones.

I don’t think any queen has been able to match Claire Foy.

I gave up watching due to the literary licence used in it - so many things not as portrayed.

Yep, Claire Foy has been the best so far. Imelda Staunton excellent though. Big fan of both actresses.
