he receives this inheritance

I'm finding it hard to see this postulated inheritance, TBH.

QM was a canny old lush lady who over spent as she wished and left her daughter to pick up the pieces. Said daughter went on to dodge some £20M IHT via the sov to sov bequest scam.

I can't see any of it trickling down to Harold just because.

Ohpleeeease · 09/07/2023 21:20

There’s so much money sloshing around the royal family it’s anybody’s guess where it ends up.

Might be lots of money sloshing around the RF but Fergie ended up in shed loads of debt.
So one can safely assume that Meghan won't see that much of it should she also become an ex.

Gilmorehill · 09/07/2023 22:44

I wonder if all the posters who are appalled at the suggestion of a Megan ants Harry split had the same reaction about the gossip about Prince W and Rose H. I don’t recall too many people worrying about the children then.

I agree @CathyorClaire Having opted out of the institution, Harry might get a personal bequest (like a cash lump sum) from Charles, but he won’t have access to the RF’s vast assets.

Fergie didn’t live in California, where marital assets are split 50/50 in a divorce. Not that I wish it to happen, not that I think it will happen, just quoting what I have been told.

Yes exactly . That really WAS nasty.

I don’t know if it’s true at all, just read another post about the QM leaving H a vast amount of money when he turns 40. No idea if it’s true or not. Their wills are all kept private anyway.

Andrew and Fergie had legally separated before those photos were published. She's never spoken about the possibility of staying married - and she's spoken about pretty much everything!
I think it was interesting that after her cancer diagnosis and op, she said she was going to take care of herself instead of others for once. She said in an interview after the queen's death that she'd promised her that she'd take over the care of Andrew so she probably spends most of her time fanning his ego. So between him and her daughters being new mothers, she's probably had her hands full.

So Andrew the Mummy’s boy is now relying on his ex wife to take over the mothering? Quite pathetic.

“California is a community property state. In plain English, this means that generally, property acquired during the marriage by either spouse is presumed to be owned by each spouse equal”

AliceOlive · 10/07/2023 01:05

Grim conversation but I prefer to add a little accuracy to how things work in the US. I’m not sure there is a state that allows anyone to attach assets acquired before marriage.

Just like the posters who seemed desperate to say they thought William had an affair.
They weren’t pleasant posters either.

"Pleasant posters" only seems to negate any discussion. So, golden unicorns and lifelong happiness to all the RF.
I'll say again, postulating that something may go badly wrong in a family does NOT mean that the poster wishes it. Nor does "they will live happily ever after" help them to do so.

I'm not sure who that is directed at, but I did not engage at all in those rumours. Not once. Just so you know.

And the speculation is far on from that on here... not just an affair. Meghan will wait for Harry to get some sort of inheritance then leave him, and walk away from the children, all for the cash.

I agree . Some posters sounded gleeful at the prospect of W and K splitting up despite absolutely no evidence of any affair or serious issues.
I hope both couples stay together .

I seem to recall that the QM set up a trust fund for great grandchildren and that William would receive a smaller amount due to him inheriting the Duchy of Cornwall however I suspect reports of Harry receiving £40 million will be wide of the mark . Did QM not have a huge overdraft with Coutts ? And remember she had a lot of great grandchildren!

Sugarfree23 · 10/07/2023 08:11

I never engaged with the William affair rumours either. Mainly because I did not believe that the UK press would have been silenced over it.

H&M they made themselves a very uncomfortable bed.
Alienated from family on both sides (except her mum).
Alienated from friends.
Failed business deals
Cried wolf - car chase that nobody really believes happened.

Is their marriage strong enough to survive?

Thank you for clarifying, @AliceOlive. I know someone who has recently gone through the process so that’s why it came to mind.

what a horrid thread. and using whatabouty to cover it up.
gleefully hoping that a marriage will end.

Ohpleeeease · 10/07/2023 08:30

I think most people want the marriage to last, surely. Why wouldn’t you? What benefit is it to anybody for them to split up?

I was waiting for this. I knew you or someone would throw this back at me.

Let me explain. There was endless speculation about the dog bowl fight. At one point JUST ONCE I said I have no idea what it was about but perhaps William had had an affair, that would explain the anger between them. That was it. That is not trashing W&K continually, so just jog on with that untrue accusation.

That is my only comment on it. Once. Unlike others who have talked endlessly about his affair. Why not challenge them for a change instead of applying constant scrutiny to my posts in the past?

By the way, at other times, I have said that he is unlikely to have had an affair, that I found the rumours ridiculous, that I think he knows what he's got in Kate etc.

You're once again proving the point a bunch of us made the other day that there is microscopic scrutiny of @Roussette on this board, often with brand new posters, and that it does not happen with anyone else. If you're harping on about one comment once, and ignoring all the other comments she has made about their marriage then its quite clear what your intent is. If you didn't want to waste time, why do this at all?

I have told you the one comment I made once. Probably nearly a year ago? I have not 'gossiped' about their marriage, I have not said anything remotely like others on here, one sentence once. That's it.

You are veering in to PA territory. Yes, I would give up if I were you. It's embarrassing. For you. Not me.
