I thought Meghan had a book deal and was going to tell their "love story"? I'm sure that I read that in one of her magazine interviews

I must admit I thought something similar but having just read Spare, Harry has done that already. There really isn’t a book in it.

AutumnCrow · 25/06/2023 15:27

From The Cut interview:

“The piece of my life I haven’t been able to share, that people haven’t been able to see, is our love story,” she says, then quotes what she says was the end of a speech she gave at her wedding, in which she took comfort in the “resounding knowing that, above all, love wins.” She adds, “I hope that is the sentiment that people feel when they see any of the content or the projects that we are working on.”

I ask again if what they are currently filming is a documentary about their love story. “What’s so funny is I’m not trying to be cagey,” she says. “I don’t read any press. So I don’t know what’s confirmed. I will tell you Liz Garbus is incredible. Liz Garbus also worked on Pearl.” Meghan says she’s going to leave it to her publicist and Netflix to decide what can be shared. (Not much.) As for the rest of her projects, she explains, “When the media has shaped the story around you, it’s really nice to be able to tell your own story.”

Ohpleeeease · 25/06/2023 15:47

I’m surprised they would want to share something as private and intimate as their love story. I can only assume it would be highly fictionalised, in which case of little interest. Perhaps, hopefully, they’ve come to that conclusion themselves.

Maireas · 25/06/2023 15:51

They have shared a lot of private and intimate stuff, really. All manner of detail, so it wouldn't surprise me. As pp said, some of the romance details were shared in "Spare".

Ohpleeeease · 25/06/2023 16:21

True, @Maireas and it kind of makes my point because I found the third section of the book, in which Meghan was introduced and the details of how they got together were shared, the least engaging part.

Maireas · 25/06/2023 17:00

Ah, me too, @Ohpleeeease , which surprised me. I thought the first part was better, Moehringer seemed to show a genuine character there, in parts.

Also, it's not just that they're negative, the stories and interviews get very contradictory eg are the royal family racist. So - stop the negativity and royal family bashing, and be consistent.

Also all the constant carping about ‘The Institution’ , how unhappy Charles and William are etc, yet Harry says he supports the monarchy . I don’t think Harry actually knows what he thinks about anything really.

Maireas · 25/06/2023 17:06

No, he's not the best advert for therapy. One very confused man.

Milcar · 25/06/2023 17:08

I suspect his thoughts follow his feelings. We all do it to some extent, but most of us do so less over time as we get challenged on our inconsistencies. I don't get the impression he has people around him who can speak up in that way.

Maireas · 25/06/2023 17:11

He's been surrounded by people who have helped and facilitated him. He's had a high level of protection and privilege in every sense. This must be very new.

Milcar · 25/06/2023 17:17

If you get to nearly 40 with one idea everyone around you agrees on (monarchy is great!) it would be quite a mental leap to see it differently. And quite an emotional leap to give up the idea that you are special because of an accident of birth, and that so many things in life you value (e.g. army career as an officer in a prestigious regiment, rather than as a squaddie) were largely available to you because of an accident of birth.

Ohpleeeease · 25/06/2023 17:26

And also that for the first time you have to pay for every aspect of your lifestyle, which means knowing what it costs and finding a means to meet those costs.

Gracewithoutend · 25/06/2023 17:47

I bet Camilla could write a very amusing book about the whole saga but it’s sadly a boom that will remain unwritten ( which is probably just as well!)

I can see her at her country kitchen table, a gin on her left, her eyes narrowed as the smoke from her fag on her right wafts into her faced, her fingers hammering away on an old fashioned typewriter as she's mumbling bastard, bloody kids, fucking pen under her breath. Oh the tales she could tell...and sadly never will.

I think it should be obligatory that all those at the sharp end of the family have to make tapes of what really happened, from their pov, which are then archived and not shown for at least 50 years after their death. Imagine if that had happened throughout history. We'd not be reliant on historians surmised.

I imagine that Meghan did question him about the practicalities of affording everything and he just batted it away saying, they'll always pay for our security because if who we are, and pa with buy us a house and fund us. He was doing that here,so why wouldn't he do that in the US? We'll just live like we do here but we'll be free and without any of the intrusion.

Maireas · 25/06/2023 17:55

All the benefits, none of the responsibilities.
Plus we'll be global superstars!

Wasn't she talking about the Netflix documentary here, which was screened in late 2022?

Jilly Cooper should be her ghost writer

I'd buy it!

They sort of go together, don't they? We went to visit the gardens at Highgrove recently and the guides all reminded me of Camilla. Very nicely spoken with a similar blonde-white hairstyles.
Great gardens and you get right up to the house. Bastards drew the curtains so we couldn't look in!!! Haha.

Well as RC-B is said to have been inspired by AP-B it's a match made in heaven!

Absolutely.

I'd forgotten that. AP-B does seem to have done the rounds. And yet, regardless, everyone seems very affectionate towards and on good terms with him. Oh, I need to read Camilla's book.

Oh, me too.
Could be called "Royals" or "Crown Jewels".
Some of her previous titles could make up the blurb on the cover: "Riders, Rivals, Polo!".
Not sure about "The Man who made Husbands Jealous" though.

EdithWeston · 25/06/2023 19:10

Oh good thinking @LaMarschallin - indeed positively Wicked!
