I doubt H would ever come back. He will be like the Duke of Windsor living a life abroad and always bitter , still expecting people to be beholden to him.

I think so too.

@Maireas one of the many interesting things in the book was that William was apparently very against him working in Africa, seeing big game conservation as his own territory. They argued about it. So perhaps it was never in the cards, even before Megxit. It’s a shame, because I think he might have made a real go of it.

Yes, I don't really think that's probable. William couldn't have stopped him. Why would he even want to?

BoohooWoohoo · 24/06/2023 19:00

I've no doubt that Charles would have him back in a blink of an eye but William would not be so accommodating as monarch. I agree that if Harry wants to come back to the UK then he needs to contact his dad while he is King. I suspect that William is perfectly happy with his brother living in the US.
Meghan will be fine whatever happens and I suspect that she will make deals for herself rather than as a couple since Harry let the side down by not creating any Spotify content.
I think that a fatherhood podcast would have worked if he dropped in anecdotes about his kids but he wouldn't sell the kids privacy to Spotify which is why it didn't go further.
I can't help but wonder if the Putin/Trump name drop is a joke? Did he have drunk brainstorming sessions and say this as a joke ? Maybe it's a joke that Democrats often make about far right wing politicians ? Or his BetterUp job has him thinking that he can coach them out of their views 😂

Maireas · 24/06/2023 19:03

I don't think it was a joke. He genuinely thinks he has some sort of mission.

Ohpleeeease · 24/06/2023 19:46

We know William was already working with Tusk, according to Harry he saw conservation in Africa as his area and was furious at the suggestion of Harry doing competing work. I suppose the control he had was his influence with Charles who held the purse strings. This is Harry’s perspective of course, might all be hogwash.

Maireas · 24/06/2023 19:47

It might, indeed, @Ohpleeeease !
I suspect that isn't what happened.

Ohpleeeease · 24/06/2023 19:52

They could use some of his millions to build a fitness empire, a really high end set up with Military Fitness Training, Yoga, all the bells and whistles. Not joking, I think it could work.

But what’s their USP? Military fitness camps exist everywhere. High end gyms exist everywhere that there is a clientele for them. Neither of them has any fitness/ training background and not hot/ jacked enough to sell themselves as the inspiration. .

I agree - he would have done a lot of military phys and she's reported to do a lot of yoga, but neither are proper coaches, so they'd just be lending their names to some other bugger's effort. And it's hard to see what their USP would be

OTOH, could there be a space for a parallel to the "We Are Undefeatable" movement - not least as it would link in to Invictus and Warrior Games, but also reach other communities with barriers to participation. But I don't think it would make them any money, but could do fabulous things for their reputation

Ohpleeeease · 24/06/2023 20:14

They’d have to get experts in to do the actual training, their contribution would be the branding and the capital. You can probably tell I haven’t exactly thought this through…

Sorry- didn’t mean to shit all over your idea- I just know from friends in the business that these things are really hard to monetarise, especially given there’s so much free content now. It’s also virtually impossible to trademark a training style.

Ohpleeeease · 24/06/2023 20:28

It’s fine, @illiterato, I ‘m only too aware I’m waaaay out of my depth with this one 😂

AutumnCrow · 24/06/2023 20:36

It's the sheer scale of the money that they need for their basic running costs that will always be the issue, really.

illiterato · 24/06/2023 20:41

Yeah I mean if I made a million a year I’d be happy with life but for them it barely touches the sides.

I have a friend who’s making a small fortune from puppy yoga. Seriously. Breeders bring puppies to the studio and the punters do yoga holding a puppy. Bonkers and brilliant at the same time. Mind you she’s a hard worker who has an eye for an opportunity. So they just need an angle.

I would be terrified I would overbalance and squash a pup.

grass321 · 25/06/2023 05:39

Had to laugh at Sarah Vine's comment today (no DM references needed, I read other papers too).

In the real world, you have only your talent, hard work and wits to rely on. Prince Harry seems remarkably short of all three.

Milcar · 25/06/2023 06:44

Yoga and singing to seals, perhaps?

  1. that’s awful. These breeders shouldn’t be breeding and H&M would be rightly crucified on SM if they endorsed that.
  2. she may be making a fortune for a yoga instructor but I doubt it’s even 6 figs net never mind the millions they need.

Hand holding masterclass.

Milcar · 25/06/2023 09:06

Singing needs good breath control, so it might be a good match with yoga 😀

Harry needs a friend. Depressingly, I feel he'd get on very well with Laurence Fox.

Is that a joke?

How Harry feels about those who struggle, immigration and all of that could not be further from Laurence Fox who is a bigoted racist.

Very true; so it's time for blue-sky thinking. Here's my idea...

Whilst living in the southern USA I was amazed by the vast amount of money that some preachers & televangelists are able to make.

Such people have no discernible talent apart from the gift of the gab, a knack for self-promotion and an impressive level of brass neck. So Harry & Meghan seem well suited to this type of work. Big tax breaks too.

Sister Meghan and Pastor Harry of The Hilltop Church of Montecito does have a certain ring to it.
