Meghan and Ashley had a Twitter exchange if I remember correctly?
From the Canadian press, I remember that her affair with the Canadian ice hockey player ended her first marriage and then she had the fling with Rory, then the other ice hockey player and then moved in with the celebrity chef Cory and while still living with him, started seeing Harry (but dates were later fudged on purpose).

I thought she dumped her first husband
not the other way around?

They have enough live well but the problem is as many have said, they want to be ‘King of the hill’. M is furiously ambitious & H will do whatever she wants, the Queen quite boldly (!) stated ‘he loves her too much’.

Haven’t RTFT but I agree with @Peverellshire that they started out with enough to live on ( £25 million inherited from Diana, just the investment income on that would be significant, plus Charles gave them cash-and probably would give more if they were on better terms), but they expect to live a lavish lifestyle so need to make more $$$$.

Tbf I think Anne has managed to stay out of the press because A. She was a Royal and not married in, and B. she's not at all attractive so no one was particularly interested in her

if interest is driven by how one looks, I’m wondering how so many perfectly ordinary looking people become household names? Or is it only Royals who have to be “attractive”?

Anne has always generated headlines. From the day she was born. And she has always risen above them. Because that is who she is. And that is why admire her - because she is the genuine article. What you see is what you get - an intelligent, committed, loyal woman.

Harry could learn so much from her

…and successful. It’s quite something to be a successful Olympian. I appreciate you often have to have money, enough to get into seriously competitive horseriding, but there is a true grit and determination within every Olympian.

Crucible · 17/06/2023 22:38

Anne is definitely beautiful but I think what comes across is that she finds press intrusion irritating. It shows, she shouldn't ever play poker.

StartupRepair · 17/06/2023 23:17

Anne was demonised by the press for years for 'scowling'. It took decades for them and then the public to respect her for her work.
I'm impressed Meghan's first husband has never said a word to the press. He could have made serious money from his story and has chosen not to.

Lots of people could have done this, I know there are mostly Meghan haters on here, but that does say something about her. If she was so terrible they'd all be lining up

Ain’t that the truth

and women are judged more harshly than men.

This was actually my original point. Anne unfortunately has that horsey look that runs in the family. Only beautiful people sell magazines, sad but true.

Harry could do a series on being a Brit living in the USA. He's been spotted at the Super Bowl and rodeo and will have lots of other American cultural experiences like Thanksgiving that he could talk about. It's not an original idea as there's plenty of Americans living in another country type social media accounts out there but it would have been good to talk up America after that big "First Amendment is bonkers" gaffe

allabouttheboy · 18/06/2023 02:23

Anne generates headlines. But the only royals most people seem to be interested in are harry and Meghan, followed by Kate and William.
Look at the threads on here. Harry and Meghan still dominate, then Kate, then William.
If Anne is rarely mentioned in a royal family board, then it's not surprising that she is rarely mentioned more widely.

It's not true that you have to be beautiful to garner public interest. Some celebrities who are far from beautiful get a lot of public interest, but they have something unique that has grabbed the public interest.

I think that’s a pretty good idea. I can see that going down well in the USA, esp if he went into schools & did sport etc additionally. No graft on content needed, he could turn up & be himself.

He could poss also do something quintessentially ‘English’, poss v Americans, e.g ‘Harry Jousts’…

Anne, I imagine, has quite a sense of humour, I wonder how she feels about her portrayal in the Windsors?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/06/2023 07:04

I couldn't agree more

Admittedly nobody knows what really goes on behind closed doors, but given the blabbing and angst from her current husband and the lack of it from her previous one, maybe she'd have done better to stick with Trevor?

grass321 · 18/06/2023 07:12

She asked Piers Morgan what Ashley Cole was like, and he told her to avoid him like the plague.

Ashley speaking on BIG WORLD ISSUES (aka reading the speech written by his wife which he can't understand as it has very long words in it) would have been even more hilarious.

The image of Ashley simpering in his all white suit with a chocolate bar in hand aside, there is somewhat of a theme. Both Ashley and Harry are not blessed in the intellect department.

I wonder whether that's her modus operandi, someone who isn't clever enough to realise most of what she said has no meaning. Someone who she can boss around because they feel inferior and flattered to be in her presence.

I don't think she'd last five minutes in the company of someone who has the brainpower and skill set to be a power for real change. I also think it's a bit of an actor/actress thing. They can't differentiate between being vaguely popular as an actor and thinking that their opinion is any more interesting or relevant than Brenda next door.

Wherestheheatwave · 18/06/2023 07:52

I am staggered at the rumours that Meghan wants to run for President. I know Reagan was an actor, but even so! What possible experience of skills has she got to contribute?

Thinking of Glenda Jackson as she recently died. She wasn’t beautiful but she was very talented.

Lack of discretion is huge for wealthy people and celebrities. My ex was a Hollywood actor. We are still in touch although he's a very self absorbed stereotype of an actor. Celebrities do not want to risk someone leaking info on them, and Harry and Megs are a risk.

I think Meghan is very pretty and while I think she is full of BS a lot, finding roles for a biracial, racially ambiguous woman is still hard.

This is also what would scupper any political ambitions.

You need to be able to cut all sorts of deals to get support to get in to the right position to get the party nominations. And I suspect people will be somewhat reluctant to make those back-room deals with someone they perceive as indiscreet. Especially if compounded by a record for inaccuracy

Problem I see with the charity ideas , they want to make money, none of the charity ideas will generate enough cash .

Agreed the charity ideas only work if they were working Royals and being funded. But they could have done so much as full-time Royals.

And they were given the option if she didn't want to be a working royal she didn't need to she could continue her career. Anne's husband isn't a working Royal either.

Talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water.

She asked Piers Morgan what Ashley Cole was like, and he told her to avoid him like the plague.

I believe it was actually journalist Katie Hind that warned her, Morgan may have done so also.

The article I read about it mentioned Katie Hind - and that Meghan brought him up as a potential relationship on 2 separate occasions. Hind warned her about him both times.

Yeah, he could, but why would he want to be famous for being the sad sack that Meghan dumped?

That is not what happened at all. There was cheating on both sides. It was a lad-ladette type of relationship which ran it's course which was unflattering to both of them to dwell on.
They both traded up in the wealth/power through their second marriages.

Wheresthebeach · 18/06/2023 11:15

So headlines about MM being courted by Dior. If she pulls it off you've got to admire her for that. Not sure it won't be toxic for the brand though...and hardly the serious stuff she seemed to want to do (but that's not going so well so maybe this is more her arena anyway).

TrashyPanda · 18/06/2023 11:17

Surely the Dior thing is just a fantasy?

Dont big brands want influencers who are popular?
