@Howsimplywonderful , yep very true , very off considering it was a private settlement and roughly the same amount was given to invictus without fanfare!

@HamBone He said in his statement he was doing this because of all the bad press Meghan got, which isn't a good reason to spend millions on court cases that are quite weak. I honestly think he's one of those litigants who just want their 'day in court'. It's sad, and it will solve nothing whatsoever. Nothing can change the past, either long past or near past. Sad.

Yes, I saw that, @polkadotdalmation . My personal theory though is that this is also linked to Diana’s death and the car chase with the paparazzi.

He’s clearly traumatized and I feel sorry for him on a personal level, while also wishing that he’d move on to something positive. He lives thousands of miles away, has a happy family life-he could make a truly fresh start.

but I wasn't in the room and some who were thought he did well or at least told bits of media this.

Would that be David Sherborne? 😉

3 different people I've seen though he could have been one - one was actually on Sky News Aus which really hates Harry and Meghan so it was a surprising take TBH -though don't ask me to find the clip now and it's possible they were just being provocative for discussion purposes.

I'm aware of very dependent on media reporting and legal people - like black belt barrister on you tube - to understand what's even going on - and I'm not in the room so everything is second hand.

Bluebells1970 · 10/06/2023 15:18

He reminds me of my sister in law. Her head is so firmly in the past and the injustices that have happened to her that it's completely tainted her future. She just can't move past what happened to her (oddly similar to Harry with parents separating, mum dying young, her marriage ending). Meeting up with her is so utterly draining because it's always woe is me. And frankly she's had a fucking easy life in comparison to a lot of others. She's got 2 amazing and successful DC, both in really strong relationships and both in great health. And has had large inheritances which has meant she's never had to work. I wish she could see the glass is half full at times.

The more privileges and money people have , the more they want .

TripleDaisySummer · 10/06/2023 15:24

@Gracewithoutend I had brain fart there as also dealing with a stroppy teen and revision - but I do agree with you subsequent post - I do think he could win as it's a low bar and if that did happen - and it may not - would due to coverage be confusing to lay person.

Okay, so I asked on the last one and came home to find it deleted ...

Does anyone happen to know if there's actual evidence of the tracker allegedly placed on Chelsey's car?
Only I'm not aware Harry said much about this when giving evidence in court, and I'd have thought it would be something he'd want to make quite a thing of - after all surely it's something his security people would have been told about meaning there'd be backup for the account?

Just catching up - I asked this too.

Was there any mention of the Security Services or the Police being involved? I'd assume they would be if an illegally placed tracking device was found in the car of the then girlfriend of the 3rd in line to the British throne.

BasiliskStare · 10/06/2023 15:28

@Maireas - That made me giggle thank you "What does he give to people he dislikes? Two copies?"

I've read it, @BasiliskStare - Ulysses it ain't.

People do. Not on mumsnet, clearly, but otherwise many do. Especially in the US and outside the UK. Many many people in the UK believe him too, unless they are daily fail readers.

I’m in ireland, it isn’t largely supportive of his actions. There is some sympathy, but his hypocrisy of complaining about his own privacy while invading others is noted too

Very interesting read.

the Sussex Paradox. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan abhor the press, but they need it to survive

this nails it

So people who challenge Harry only do so because they are "daily fail" readers? Perhaps they are just critical thinkers.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/06/2023 15:37

Can he really be so dim as to have imagined that court would provide the evidence he needed? And that the journalists he's accusing would give answers to questions he couldn't account for himself?

Not knowing him I couldn't say how "dim" Harry is, though he certainly works hard at giving that impression - hence perhaps the repeated "you'd have to ask the journalists" about something I thought he was supposed to be able to prove himself

I'm still trying to get my head around that, because to this layperson at least it makes no sense at all

And yes, in the absence of any apparent proof about the alleged car tracker, I have to wonder if this is another version of the "near catastrophic car chase"

jeffgoldblum · 10/06/2023 15:41

@Puzzledandpissedoff , I doubt he's ever had to do anything for himself , so it's no surprise really.
And I imagine a lifetime of people cleaning up his messes and agreeing with him has left him unable to function with the reality of real life.

Lndnmummy · 10/06/2023 15:41

Have any of you read any coverage, about the trial, or the evidence, or indeed the case that is not presented by the tabloids?

jeffgoldblum · 10/06/2023 15:42

Yes

Is that what you think his life has been like? I see his life v differently. I see a deeply traumatised man who has grown up in neglect and dysfunction.

jeffgoldblum · 10/06/2023 15:44

Neglected in a palace , neglected with hundreds of staff, neglected with unimaginable wealth!

Iwas in the US last month and people thought he was a prat.

why assume people who are fed up with his attention seeking tactics and “his truth” read the DM? you must have intimate knowledge of the DM to make that assumption.

I see a very jealous man, who is miserable in his supposedly happy married life.

”neglected”!!!

as if. Just because he wasn’t always the centre of attention does not mean neglect.

@TripleDaisySummer Yes, I was just joking about David Sherborne. Aus Sky is horrible about them. But I did see a summary from them that was sympathetic whilst say that he didnt present much actual evidence. Which I think is fair. He's definitely relying on the judge taking the pattern of behaviour as a deciding factor.

The reporting of a case makes every difference and I've seen in a few cases now how the reports from the press differ from reality and that's why the Depp/Heard case was so interesting because the actuality differed from the reporting in the press which was mainly pro Heard and the reporting by many youtubers who were rabidly anti Heard. Seeing it in person and comparing it to what you read was quite extraordinary and undermined what little belief I had left in the newspapers. I could see why Heards side didn't want it televised.

With Harry, I feel like on the first day, he was full of I don't knows and its not my fault. Pretty routine Harry fare. But the evidence after that got a bit lost and Harry's side did enough to win. But 🤷‍♀️.

It's certainly made me realise that just because people have won hacking cases, it's not an automatic that they were in fact hacked.
