Lol

No you don't!

All the bits about how Harry is traumatised and neglected because he went to boarding school is where you’ve lost me sorry lol. Maybe it’s because I grew up on a council estate and have a chip on my shoulder but I’d literally sell a limb to give my kids that kind of opportunity. The best school in the country! The burdens of being rich and privileged…

Sorry, there are loads of us who have tried to keep this pleasant.

but we can only try to encourage and not all posters listen.

please join in!

Thank you. Here’s to pleasant discourse.

CathyorClaire - there were seven senior royals at that Commonwealth Day Service even without William attending (Sophie wasn’t there either - no scandal there, or was there?). And Harry was Captain General of the Royal Marines at the time he skipped a memorial service to mark the 30th anniversary of the death of eleven Marines killed when their base in Deal was bombed by the IRA. Not quite the same thing…

(That Sun article is also a good illustration of the absolute rubbish they all get in the press from time to time. The core of the story - William went ski-ing with some of his close male friends, and they met up with some women friends to had lunch, in public. Later they went out to a bar and William was filmed dancing. But one of the women had the temerity to be good looking and had some bikini pics on social media, so we get a lascivious story about it all).

Exactly. I doubt Kate was crying into her soup sitting on her own. She had nannies and staff and may well have been staying with her family or friends. We don’t know what she was doing or how she felt.

I know several adults who were at boarding school from prep age and they all say that they had a brilliant time. School, then hanging around with their friends for a few hours before dinner and bedtime. Pretty much like a play date/sleepover every night.

I would also think that with the paps and press intrusion before Diana’s death, boarding school would actually have been a more preferable option compared to driving William and Harry to/from school every day with paps following and taking pictures.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/06/2023 21:37

Just a small point, but since David Sherborne's been mentioned, wasn't he the barrister who Meghan got rid of half way though her own case?

CathyorClaire · 11/06/2023 21:42

Sophie was regarded as fairly minor at the time (2017)

The heir was undeniably coasting.

If you’re right why on earth would H have/want him in his corner?

@TrashyPanda it’s been interesting. I do find it so odd M not over too (?) Maybe she’l not set foot in UK again?

The right thing to do is to set up a new thread entitled "David Sherborne is the best barrister on the planet'.

😆

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/06/2023 22:05

I can't answer that, Peverellshire, but just checked and the thing about Meghan replacing Sherborne is mentioned here: https://www.itv.com/news/2020-09-21/meghan-markle-replaces-johnny-depp-lawyer-in-her-fight-with-mail-on-sunday

Howsimplywonderful · 11/06/2023 22:16

It could have been a scheduling conflict. He was her barrister but was replaced

TrashyPanda · 11/06/2023 22:31

Yep. It’s frustrating but best not to rise to the bait

Morestrangerthings · 12/06/2023 02:02

Not to be rude, but why do we need m being brought into a thread about Harry?
Do we really need it ?
Is it so people can bring up racism?

If you read back, you will find Meghan was brought into the conversation as a comparison, by posters who hold the belief that the other married-in-royal-women experienced worse than each other and Meghan.

Morestrangerthings · 12/06/2023 02:48

It's a modern day fallacy parents have that all past family trauma stops with them. As if we've finally reached a stage of human evolution where we eradicate the past. It's unbelievably arrogant.

Give it 30 years and this generation of children will be along to tell us how we've fucked them up.

‘Never a truer word…’ as I think the saying goes. Absolutely agree, Strawberrywasp.

“It's a modern day fallacy parents have that all past family trauma stops with them.”

TrashyPanda · 11/06/2023 06:46

I am white so I don’t experience racism

white people experience racism too.

I’ve been spat on. And had racist remarks thrown at me. If someone is targeted and abused because of their racial background - that is racism. Generalplan Ost was racist, pure and simple and nobody can argue otherwise.

And anti semitism is just another name for a specific form of racism

I’m not denying that Jews experience racism. I absolutely see that they do. It was an error to not word that sentence differently. How I phrase things is not always going to be perfect. My sincerest apologies to anyone I’ve hurt.

so, you do see the racism experienced by Meghan?

Morestrangerthings · 12/06/2023 06:10

polkadotdalmation · 11/06/2023 20:12

Know him personally do you? Or are you just denying me my right to an opinion?

The Spectator describes him as a permatanned schmoozer with the wind-tugged, auburn tresses.

Hardly flattering!

Well, the Spectator would.

skullbabe · 12/06/2023 07:00

I did wonder what the issue was with someone who was tanned with long brown hair - why these physical characteristics were being held in contempt. Is there something wrong with a barrister looking like they spend time outside? I understand the schmoozing but did struggle with the rest of that sentence as a negative.

Mumsnut · 12/06/2023 07:04

In the words of the late, great, Linda Smith, ‘He’s not fit to kiss David’s mock croc loafers!’

Good grief! He is a leading barrister admired and revered by his peers

That’s …. quite the position you are taking there, Roussette. Would be really curious to know exactly how you came to this conclusion?

(Barristers, generally, are not disposed to refer their peers! The very thought… 🤣🤣)

I think he can be what both posters have said.

Perhaps she realized it would be difficult to pull the wool over his eyes the way she did with Oprah and others.
