As for the barrister he 'met in holiday' I think he is just a fame hungry, money grubbing opportunist using Harry to front a fairly minor case

Good grief! He is a leading barrister admired and revered by his peers

Way to go to discredit him 😮

Know him personally do you? Or are you just denying me my right to an opinion?

The Spectator describes him as a permatanned schmoozer with the wind-tugged, auburn tresses.

Hardly flattering!

That’s …. quite the position you are taking there, Roussette. Would be really curious to know exactly how you came to this conclusion?

(Barristers, generally, are not disposed to refer their peers! The very thought… 🤣🤣)

Why am I denying your right to an opinion lolol

He is notably well respected. You call him a 'fame hungry money grabbing opportunist'

Do You know him to insult a reputed barrister like this?!

I mean....really 😅😂😅😂

Nobody is going to get into specifics because it is not the done thing but even he wouldn't write that about himself unless he was having a laugh.

They didn’t receive their titles till the morning of the wedding in May 2018 so I doubt their handler would have known a full year in advance that one was in the offing

actually, it was tradition under QEII

andrew, Edward and William all received dukedoms on their wedding days

Not just QEII. George VI made Prince Phillip the Duke of Edinburgh on the morning of his wedding to his daughter. And George V gave his two of his sons the titles of Duke of York and Duke of Kent on their marriages (the Duke of Gloucester was an exception, he was given his title six years before he married).

Obviously we don’t know what conversations go on behind closed doors, but I think it would have been clearly understood that Harry would be given the rank of a Duke on his marriage. Not least because the Royal Family were doubtless keen to ensure that his wife would have an actual style of her own title, rather than becoming “Princess Henry of Wales”!

You know him?

Do you? And when did you last poll barristers for their view of him?

The fact that David Sherborne is not a KC shows he is not universally liked and admired by his peers

He looks like David Dickinsons love child (and is apparently nicknamed orange sherbet) but he did deliver some fabulous lines in the Vardy - Rooney trial.

No
I just read about him and from what I saw I would not call him 'a hungry money grabbing opportunist''.
Because I tend to not hurl insults at someone I have not had experience of.
That way works for me

But you all go for it. If that suits

David Dickinson's love child.

Ok
I'm outta here.

Good grief

Howsimplywonderful · 11/06/2023 20:47

If he was ‘revered by his peers’ he would be a KC

The previous thread was so nice without all this mudslinging and arguing that we have on here.

CathyorClaire · 11/06/2023 20:59

How differently things might have played out over the past 3.5 years if they'd been allowed the half-in, half-out deal they wanted.

You think flogging Sussex Royal bandanas alongside opening a fish market at the arse end of nowhere on a wet and windy Wednesday appealed?

Arf.

I didn’t call him anything you’ll note. I was merely amused by your hyperbolic and apparently knee jerk statement that he was “revered” by his fellow barristers. Did you even know he’s had a sticky time before the Bar Standards Board for breaches of ethics?

The right thing to do is to set up a new thread entitled "David Sherborne is the best barrister on the planet'.

Sorry, there are loads of us who have tried to keep this pleasant.

but we can only try to encourage and not all posters listen.

please join in!

The professional outrage would be better spent on huffing and puffing at some of the atrocious tat that has actually been licensed and sold under the Duchy brand as an example.

The Duchy brand was ditched by Charles as soon as it stopped turning him a profit.
