Do you ever think when you write things like this of the people of colour on the board and how they might be affected by your minimisation of racism?

racism affects people of many different races.

No, I commented on their publicising the gift.

Why did they send him a gift?

Read the auricle, she explains why. Surely giving a gift is a kind gesture, and the terrible abuse they suffered is the actual issue? or do you both think they deserve that?

And then why publicise it?

Yes, you should read the link, they give away bikes every Christmas and are giving more to needy kids. I mean I still give to my own children and friends and all of them are doing fine and there are probably more needy people I could give to.... I am sure we all gift things to people who are not needy.

I'm interested in thoughts about the abuse they faced though, it seems like the focus is on the gift giving and not the abuse they faced for some reason.

What possible reason could they have for publicising their business?

I just find it so interesting that the fact they gifted a bike and publicised it, is the thing you both want to focus on and you are not bothered whatsoever about the hate and abuse they faced for doing so.

If Kate received a gift that was publicised and the gift givers faced abuse, I am pretty sure this board would be outraged by it. I mean, people actually do give them gifts all the time and they certainly don't need them! So many flowers for people that have their own gardeners.

Apparently no-one who has bought a bike from them has sent a thank you note so they were very touched to get a thank you note (for the free bicycle)

I think I will ring them and see if they accept thank you notes in lieu of payment because my kids would like free bikes 🤣🤣

But I’m guessing it was along the lines of why are you giving free bikes to wealthy kids etc. what about poor underprivileged kids who can’t afford bikes.

I think this is why the RF doesn’t accept free gifts.

i’m guessing the bike owner was looking for free publicity for the bike as why would he publish it in people 🙄 ?

i don’t know why he’s saying he’s humbled to be thanked for a free bike and people who buy them don’t write thank you notes

You haven’t answered the question. My intention is not to minimise racism. Of course racism is totally unacceptable and painful for those who are on the receiving end. I am questioning IN THIS CASE whether the dislike ( not hate) of a mixed race woman is purely down to her having one parent who is black.

Im not talking about the nutters who have displayed more extreme behaviour. They are in the minority and are clearly not representative of most people. There are nutters and extremists everywhere.

you're guessing, yes. What does it matter what the abuse was about? Its either wrong to abuse people or it isn't. There are lots of companies giving free stuff to rich celebrities every day, I don't bombard their social media with hateful messages about it and nor do most people as its extremely common. I think the take here is really interesting, immediately the questioning or minimising the abuse and hate or ignoring it altogether because this one company shouldn't;t do what thousands of others do and give gifts to rich people. The Queen received plenty of gifts didn't she? she certainly didn't;t need any.

So you are saying she is not hated by anyone? Really? Never received hate? You didn't;t say originally whether it was purely about race, I don't think anyone has claimed it. But racism is far worse than just misogyny alone, which all the women face. It adds a huge weight and burden to a person's life. What you said was it would have been worse for her if she was white. It wouldn't.

Of course online abuse is wrong. @Iwantcakeeveryday Why are you so keen for posters to state the bleeding' obvious?
How many of the other donors (to the Queen or to others) boast in Hello magazine about their own generosity? Particularly since online feedback became so easy?

The case about Harry’s visa was postponed for a week bcos the Dept of Homeland Security had not responded.
