WinnieTheW0rm

but either way it does show something of what Diana was drawn to

I'm sure you're right - it didn't seem like she was averse to a bit of woo.

TrashyPanda · 09/06/2023 18:52

He can't resist a dig about his brother's hair can he? & it's not like he's exactly Lassie in the fur department

that is a wonderful phrase!

just bloody nasty of Harry at the time. Mean and petty. Couldn’t resist getting in a dig at William.

funny how he didn’t mention his own complexion was painted less ruddy than in RL.

So, in Harry’s view, he took this case to stop the hate against Meghan.

what does he honestly think is going to happen?

IMO the papers might stop writing about her - but that would mean less publicity and therefore less money.

would that change peoples views of Meghan, formed over several years?

what about social media? They can’t control that. There are too many people for a start.

if Harry won and the papers started being complimentary about Meghan, would people think it was a piss-take? Would they believe it? Or would readers just shrug and move on, not having changed their opinions?

whether or not it is deserved - Meghan has a negative image.

I can’t see that changing any time soon.

oh doesn’t stop them trying 😂😭

Award of the night for sure!

The American company Harry is involved in is Better Up, and the reviews online are dire. The employees are on their knees with the management style, and yet trying to help members of other companies improve mental health. The company charges huge fees, but has offered 'free' advice to around 3000 Invictus members. What this actually involves no one knows, but I suspect it's a couple of hours online support (which will cure fuck all) with the offer of signing up for the $$$ (expensive) online therapies. Another money making scheme Harry rally hasn't done due diligence with. I believe the company are beefing their brand up and expecting to be taken over by a much larger organisation.

polkadotdalmation · 09/06/2023 19:07

FWIW. The painting of the two brothers was lovely. So much nicer than the very formal and imo not very flattering to kate and William. The green dress did nothing for her I felt.

mixedrecycling · 09/06/2023 18:15

Yep. 'Better Up' I think it's called. Minimal qualifications needed. Harry is (was? I think still is) 'CHIMPO' - Chief Impact Officer!

You couldn’t make that up!

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/06/2023 19:36

Sorry, I'm a horrid person, but CHIMPO did make me laugh.

Yes his own family think he’s been brainwashed by dodgy therapists. There are loads of great ones using tried & tested methods to achieve actual objectives. Then there are those that use weird fads which seem to just make their clients worse in a way that creates more problems so that they and their wallets keep coming back for more.

And his whole new thing of “mental fitness” which appears to involve selling ineffective therapy to people who don’t need it, under the somewhat sketchy premise that if you buy one of these “mental fitness” courses for your company then your employees won’t get a mental illness… it’s all a bit of a scam to be honest. Therapy that actually works is hard work. The idea you can prevent mental illness through unnecessary therapy is like suggesting you can avoid cancer by having unnecessary chemotherapy. I think he really believes in it though.

well his family would wouldn't they? That's not unusual when a family is unhealthy and as damaging as his family is, of course they'd see therapy as a threat.

mixedrecycling · 09/06/2023 19:55

And yet years ago he said he first went for therapy at the suggestion of his brother

*one that stands out is when QEII made a statement about a life of service and H&M snapped back “service is universal”

it was rude
it was offensive
it was a childish, petty, point scoring thing to do.

i was genuinely shocked.*

Yes, I was shocked too that they actually think you have to be royal to be of service to others. The arrogance. I am glad they made the point of correcting that elitist and arrogant statement.

polkadotdalmation · 09/06/2023 20:01

Give over! It's CIO, not chimpo! No taking the piss allowed! We are keeping this very civilised and no cheap, shots allowed.. except by me 😀

mixedrecycling · 09/06/2023 20:01

And have they lived a life of service to others?

polkadotdalmation · 09/06/2023 20:02

@Iwantcakeeveryday And now your diagnosing an entire family you have never spoken with? Does it include Harry and Meghan then?

mixedrecycling · 09/06/2023 20:03

I'm sorry, I didn't make that up! That was how it was reported at the time, and I remembered because it was so weird. Maybe it was a pi** take at the time, and I was naive!

Iwantcakeeveryday · 09/06/2023 20:04

fancy thinking you live a life of service with all that money and obscene wealth privilege and special laws you get from your 'role'... I think the nicest thing I could say is she lacked self awareness. Big time.

mixedrecycling · 09/06/2023 20:06

The 'life of service' - if I remember rightly - was in response to removing HRH? Not that QE2 or the Palace referred to 'service'?

The Queen confirmed the couple would not "continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service".

And she was 100% right

then and now

For a family that sees therapy as a threat a surprising number of them have taken advantage of it, and these are just the ones we know of

Meghan has form for a lack of self-awareness though - remember her self pitying statement on tour of Africa?

If true, it struck me as a very compassionate suggestion - though I expect what William had in mind was a reputable therapist rather than someone on the fringes

TrashyPanda · 09/06/2023 20:20

And definitely not involving magic mushrooms!

I thought when Harry, William and Catherine launched 'Heads Together' Harry talked about going for therapy at William's suggestion?
