The royal family

Why is Harry coming to the coronation at all?

He's apparently not going to see his father and he's just flying in an out, leaving immediately after the ceremony to rush back to California. I know it's nice to be at your kid's birthday party, but FFS this is his father's coronation, a day he's been waiting for his whole life. So Harry is flying all the way over here, no doubt burning up the planet on a fucking private jet, and all for what? To be seen to be there? What for? What a waste of time. If he's not even going to celebrate with his family I don't know why he doesn't just stay in California, since that's clearly where he'd rather be. I don't understand why he's coming at all.

The difference is @michaelmacrae, that I quoted somebody who said a comment and commented on that, you did not, you just threw it in, trying to detract from the point and bounce over to another shady royal

I wonder who he will sit with - given that Beatrice and Eugenie have been out partying with Piers Morgan this weekend. I’m thinking princess anne.

slowquickstep · 24/04/2023 19:41

He needs to come for 2 reasons, he needs ammo for his next round of woe is me interviews. He can cry that he made the long trip but everyone ignored him. nobody fell to their knee's to give thanks that he was there. Also i think very soon he will need his family, Meagain has her own path to forge.

the most popular Princess of the modern world, Queen of our Hearts, a strong woman who should have had the chance to change the world - she must have been seen as a threat.

Excuse me while I vomit.

Good grief! Have you seen her popularity figures?! She's a wannabe, but she's failed and has made many people really dislike the real her, under her mask

You quoted me actually, so I don't know what you're babbling on about.

Honestly, I think either they should all come, smile, make a fucking effort and go to the family lunch afterwards, even have Archie's birthday party here in the UK. I mean, we have cakes and balloons here too! Or all stay away. It seems really clear that Harry doesn't want to come and is only doing this flying visit to please Charles. But if I was Charles I'd be gutted, not only by Harry's appalling attacks on a father who seems to have been distant, but basically kind and well-meaning, and for thinking that showing his face is enough. Not a kind word to his father on this most momentous of occasions. Just a 'I'm coming, but I don't want to speak to you'. What an utter spoilt tosspot Harry is.

You sound very cross.

I read he'd not been asked to the family lunch or whatever it is. What should he do, just sit around and not fly home because you say so?

Could you please link to where he has said he doesn't want to see Charles.

Firstly, her name is Meghan. Secondly you obviously never read Harry's book. That much is obvious.

Perhaps his father has asked for him to come? I think that would be most likely. Charles isn't going to be around forever and despite all the arguments they are still father & son and I'm sure they love each other.

For the first time ever, I actually agree with you!

KitKatLove · 24/04/2023 20:12

He’s damned if he attends and damned if he doesn’t.

Yep. Posters have said on here that he shouldn't come. Then next minute he should. With Meghan and the children.
Then he isn't coming for long enough. Then it's an insult he's coming so briefly.

It changes all the time

He really isn't 'damned'. Rather he has painted himself into a corner and if he doesn't come he looks a dick, ditto if he does come. All entirely of his own doing.

I'd like to think he has agreed to grace us with his presence for his df, but I think we all know he's done it for Netflix $$.

derxa · 24/04/2023 20:24

I think him coming on his own is the best solution. No fuss about meghan and no dragging little kids across the Atlantic. I honestly wish both 'sides' could let all their gripes go and fences rebuilt.

So ridiculous. She may have slightly lighter hair, that’s it. She looks stunning.

She looks awful!!

I choose to call he MEagain, that's my truth and i am sticking to it. No i haven't read his book, not a fan of fantasy.

Thought you hadn't read it. It was obvious. It was nothing like you think in your head you know.

And stupid nicknames are just that. Stupid

Totally agree. I said when the Coronation was announced that he would come on his own, slip in and slip out again. Best solution.

Andanotherone01 · 24/04/2023 20:30

Because otherwise Netflix will drop him like a hot potato. His link to the RF is the only thing making money

Kvetching · 24/04/2023 20:31

slowquickstep I simply don’t get people having such strong opinions on a book they’ve never read. I wish people would read it and open their minds, rather than forming opinions based on idiotic social media posts and tabloids.

Glad we agree @Roussette 😄As you know I've not been a fan of many of H&M's actions but it has been so sad to see this family rift play out.

Yes, absolutely. I do wish that H&M keep quiet, RF keep quiet, and everything else done in private but far far more importantly... the media just lay off.

It's just like a feeding frenzy!

pilates · 24/04/2023 20:41

@Roussette never thought I would agree with you but yes they do need to 🤐 maybe after the coronation things will calm down and everyone will get on with their lives.

Bluekerfuffle · 24/04/2023 20:44

I think because the king wants him there and he he might want to be there as well rather than regret not going to a one off special event for his father. He’s probably leaving straight after as he knows after all that he’s said it would be extremely uncomfortable and pointless to stay if everyone is going to give him the cold shoulder at the rest of the day’s events.

BellePeppa · 24/04/2023 20:46

I heard today in something or other that Harry is bored in Montecito and is missing the more structured life he had in the UK. I wonder if it’s true? Maybe Montecito is a bit like when you think you’d like to live in the holiday resort you’ve just been to but after a couple of weeks you’re glad to go home.

Before we get all wound up we should wait and see what will happen.

Remember all the hyperbole over the funeral and the Jubilee? So much written, so many "experts" opining, so many "friends said".

In the end a lot was untrue.

Really - until someone makes an official statement re this or that I am of the opinion that 99.9% is made up nonsense.

polkadotdalmation · 24/04/2023 21:05

I think he's opted for the best solution. Come, show up for the coronation, and leave. He won't get back for the birthday day, because it will be 7pm, so archie will be in bed, but the actual party is going to be held on the sunday. Best of both worlds. I'm sure he's happy in Montecito, and I don't think they as a couple will be coming here again for years. Great. Enjoy the new life you've made, shut up with the mud slinging, chat to Pa on the phone occassionally (weather, polo, grandkids...nothing that can go in a book or be broadcast (you fucked that one up Harry)) and do your bloody charity work.
