Why is Harry coming to the coronation at all?

He's apparently not going to see his father and he's just flying in an out, leaving immediately after the ceremony to rush back to California. I know it's nice to be at your kid's birthday party, but FFS this is his father's coronation, a day he's been waiting for his whole life. So Harry is flying all the way over here, no doubt burning up the planet on a fucking private jet, and all for what? To be seen to be there? What for? What a waste of time. If he's not even going to celebrate with his family I don't know why he doesn't just stay in California, since that's clearly where he'd rather be. I don't understand why he's coming at all.

Maybe Charles and the rest don't want to speak to Harry. Would you? Maybe the others all said they won't go if he's around as he'll be gathering material for his next book or show.

I wonder given a totally free choice whether his dad would invite Harry

Honestly, I think either they should all come, smile, make a fucking effort and go to the family lunch afterwards, even have Archie's birthday party here in the UK. I mean, we have cakes and balloons here too! Or all stay away. It seems really clear that Harry doesn't want to come and is only doing this flying visit to please Charles. But if I was Charles I'd be gutted, not only by Harry's appalling attacks on a father who seems to have been distant, but basically kind and well-meaning, and for thinking that showing his face is enough. Not a kind word to his father on this most momentous of occasions. Just a 'I'm coming, but I don't want to speak to you'. What an utter spoilt tosspot Harry is.

But the kids weren't invited. So they'd be leaving Archie with no parents around him on his birthday. I wouldn't do that with my son.

Justmuddlingalong · 24/04/2023 17:36

I think he'll want to attend so that he can look like he's making an effort to build bridges.
I think spending time with the wider family would be toe curlingly embarrassing for him, so Archiie's birthday is the perfect excuse to pop in and pop out again.

FroggoDoggos · 24/04/2023 17:36

The entire family are milking this nasty situation with megan/Harry. The attention-seeking couple claim they don't want the spotlight, yet continue to stir up shit. Charles and Camilla should keep it quiet if they know what's good for them, because all the extra publicity is shedding light onto Diana's death, which I refuse to believe they weren't part of. I mean really, the most popular Princess of the modern world, Queen of our Hearts, a strong woman who should have had the chance to change the world - she must have been seen as a threat. It won't matter in a few years anyway, Harry and Megan will never last and then he won't have to pretend to love her anymore 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why do you care? It's ridiculous that people are so invested in this nonsense. He really can't win. He agrees to come over and that's wrong. If he decided to stay away that would also be wrong. I can see why Meghan is staying away. The British Press have hounded her.

^^ Totally this!

'Charles and Camilla should keep it quiet if they know what's good for them, because all the extra publicity is shedding light onto Diana's death, which I refuse to believe they weren't part of'

I'm not sure whether to Grin or Confused.

Hotfootgoose · 24/04/2023 17:42

So he can write about how he was snubbed at the coronation by his family and how isolated he feels , all in his next book….

Blimey, that’s quite the reach.

No matter… OP, how about it’s as simple as ‘Darling Boy, I know it’s difficult between us all at the moment but it would mean so much to have you there. Come, fly in and out - no pressure - but to know you’re there would be wonderful’

Like any other family that has its ups and downs.

It's a 4yr old's birthday. I'm pretty sure they could have squeezed in jelly and ice cream at any host of residences available to them after the Coronation.

They should have come together, shown a united front or both stayed away. It's typical of Harry I suppose, get the clicks and the headlines then naff off back to his sycophants in the US to spill the tea on Reality Show Number 2.

Rhondaa · 24/04/2023 17:32

Because much as he seems to loathe them he needs the Royal link for his US enablers and paychecks.

Don't forget the Inheritance he obviously wants, too.

Harry is definitely the 'Prodigal', and he looks far from happy, despite making millions airing his Royal Laundry in public.

When he comes, he ought to put a brave face on it, not just scowl and glare.

Indiana2021 · 24/04/2023 17:49

Why do you care (unless you're William, Kate or Camilla?)

Why is Andrew going? And why is he creeping his way back in to public events? If you're more offended by Harry's presence than Andrew's then maybe have a think about why.

REP22 · 24/04/2023 17:49

His book deal is for three books. He needs material for books two and three.

Or, alternatively, it IS still his father and he wants to support him.

Both reasons could be true and coexist. Harry needs to maintain his income stream and interest but does presumably also love his dad in his own way.

Freefall212 · 24/04/2023 17:51

I don't think he has been waiting for this day his whole life.

He would probably rather not go but doesn't want to completely cut ties or deal with the endless backlash of not going. So he will make a brief appearance. They have a ton of money. He can jet there and back on a comfy private plane.

Hmm well it's quite a high profile event you see, so therefore we are allowed an opinion on it.
I've no idea how Harry can come back after all the shit he's spouted on his many media appearances and interviews. He's like Thomas Markle but much, much worse.

Indiana2021 · 24/04/2023 17:54

Janiie

What about Andrew though. What's your opinion on his presence at such a high profile event since we're all allowed an opinion.

Why do people rage about Harry while Andrew appears to be welcome.

Bizarre!

Sudeko · 24/04/2023 17:59

Gawd. I could have sworn this thread was about Harry not Andrew and stated so in the title 🤔

So a child's birthday should not be important to his own parents because he is only 4, and some old codger who decided to have his big day on the same day, when he could have chosen any other day in the year, should take priority. Riight..

Well Andrew hasn't spent the last 4 years slating his whole family repeatedly, dishing out non stop books and chat show shite moaning and moaning about his lot. He's stepped down form royal duties but of course he'll attend a state occasion when his brother is crowned or perhaps you'd like him to wear a hair shirt for the next 30years and exist in solitary confinement?

I'll ask you something in return, why do Harry fans rage about Evil Thomas Markle and his media blabbing yet give Harold a round of applause when he does it?!

Rhondaa · 24/04/2023 18:02

No, I didn't say it isn't important i said it could be hosted anywhere.

Some old codger? That's rather disgusting ageist language there.

Indiana2021 · 24/04/2023 18:02

And therein lies the problem.
The man who doesn't sweat is forgiven.

Who said he is forgiven? I haven't suggested he becomes a working royal or anything but of course he'll attend the Coronation. As I said he hasn't spent 4 years saying horrid the whole institution and family are.

michaelmacrae · 24/04/2023 18:04

Andrew has done far, FAR worse than slate his family. 🙄Seriously, you all love the RF so much you're willing to be pedo excusers. Unbelievable.

theculture · 24/04/2023 18:06

To be fair it won't be much if a fun birthday for Archie (or his parents) with the jet lag if he did come

Yes solitary confinement would be good. I'd also prefer that instead of being allowed to use his Mummy's money to pay off his accuser, that he instead should have had to stand trial. Like normal people.

Again think about what it says about a person who finds Harry more offensive. Why do women excuse men like Andrew?

Sudeko · 24/04/2023 18:08

You should write in and tell them that 💪
