Why is Harry coming to the coronation at all?

He's apparently not going to see his father and he's just flying in an out, leaving immediately after the ceremony to rush back to California. I know it's nice to be at your kid's birthday party, but FFS this is his father's coronation, a day he's been waiting for his whole life. So Harry is flying all the way over here, no doubt burning up the planet on a fucking private jet, and all for what? To be seen to be there? What for? What a waste of time. If he's not even going to celebrate with his family I don't know why he doesn't just stay in California, since that's clearly where he'd rather be. I don't understand why he's coming at all.

All of this is speculation. We have no idea about their private conversations do we? It's like saying you know what I've just been whatsapping the kids in my family group!
We only know a little bit. What the media feed us, often distorted.

Unless you are also present inside the Abbey, you will see next to nothing of Harry. He will be positioned where he will rarely be captured incidentally and the negotiations regarding camera angles and mainstream broadcasting are long completed. It will be all about making Charles and Camilla look wonderful and worthy successors to HMQ (even if they really aren't). As somebody pointed out, it is about the play itself, the ceremonial value, appearances and global significance, not petty squabbles between the actors.

Exactly that, @Sudeko . It's not an episode of a Housewives franchise.

Roussette · 27/04/2023 09:37

I agree Sudeko

The day is far far bigger than where Harry is going to sit, and did Mike Tindall just look at him in a funny way 😂

I know that they will still manage to write those divisive stories - I bet the drafts have been ready for months!

Who knows what will happen in private. Not everything has to be a state occasion or royal event.

There aren't going to be any major events for a good couple of decades now, unless there is an untimely death.

So unless they pop over for Christmas and join the walk to the church at Sandringham, or are here at Ascot and hop in a carriage with other family members, there simply won't be an occasion

(Trooping the Colour and Remembrance Day are both only working Royals and those with honorary military appointments, aren't they?)

Yes probably!
It reminds me of the RRs who did a 4 way zoom interview criticising the OW interview before it was even aired. It was a scam. They didn't realise. The best bit was when they were asked what they thought of Meghan's donation an support of Balham Donkey Sanctuary. Very funny 😂

😂Now with frantic rewrites now tht Meghan's not coming.

I'm really looking forward to it - I'll be working but I'll have it on a screen. I found the funeral really emotional - (the one thing you can say about us lot is that we know how to out pomp the pompiest of pomps - I know don't get on me for this phrase) and monumentous with historical signficance and even though I have no (personal) time for Charles or Camilla - I'm really excited about it.

I saw a wax work of Camilla today on morning TV and I was rushing out to get the kidlets to childcare for the day and I thought that she really looks really handsome when she's decked out. So yes - the jewels, the gold, the splendour, the over the topness, the presenters speaking in sotto tones about what everything means - it'll be great.

I know I'll definitely be watching as it is the newness of the experience of witnessing a British coronation. That waxwork is flattering compared to some of them!
