The royal family

Why is Harry coming to the coronation at all?

He's apparently not going to see his father and he's just flying in an out, leaving immediately after the ceremony to rush back to California. I know it's nice to be at your kid's birthday party, but FFS this is his father's coronation, a day he's been waiting for his whole life. So Harry is flying all the way over here, no doubt burning up the planet on a fucking private jet, and all for what? To be seen to be there? What for? What a waste of time. If he's not even going to celebrate with his family I don't know why he doesn't just stay in California, since that's clearly where he'd rather be. I don't understand why he's coming at all.

Ahhh... so you want the Coronation to just be about him and his discomfort, got it!

Absolutely not, he gives me the ick & I’d prefer not to see him much at all. Hopefully he’ll be positioned behind a convenient candle so the cameras don’t dwell on him 😁

But the endless discussion about his dreadful behaviour means plenty of onlookers will be watching him & those around him closely, just like they did at the Jubillee

Maireas · 27/04/2023 08:15

Awful, and I've seen it from both sides. The gleeful drinking game was suggested by someone very pro Sussex, as if the negativity would be something to celebrate. Same with anyone who wants to enjoy Harry's discomfort for any other reason. The good thing is that both sides will be disappointed.
I'll be watching it as an historical event, it won't be ruined by gossip and snarking.

Roussette · 27/04/2023 08:19

poppy your wish will come true I'm sure. If he gives you 'the ick' just blink and you will miss him.

Are you actually looking forward to the ceremony and all that entails, or is it just about scrutinising Harry and those sat round him on replay again and again? (I need to start a bet... I'll guess 3 seconds of footage, it might be rather boring for you if the latter)

Frankly, Ditto!

You clearly haven’t been reading my posts properly, actually I’ve noticed you have a habit of deliberately misreading others’ posts, so I’m not going to engage with you any further 😊

People always say that to @Roussette when she challenges them about posts that make no sense. Constantly banging on about how humiliated someone’s going to be at a huge event not about them is truly odd and it is surprising if you are a royalist and are meant to be interested in the coronation. How many times do you need to say someone ‘gives you the ick’? It’s super childish behaviour to me.

I read them clearly and carefully, hence my replies to you.

You are fixated on Harry's discomfort. I hope however you manage to avoid him giving you any 'ick' and enjoy the actual spectacle that it will be.

It makes plenty of sense to point out that there will be some controversy surrounding H’s appearance given his behaviour towards his own family, how wilfully obtuse to suggest that pointing this out ‘makes no sense’.

I’m not personally interested in looking at Harry or watching him being snubbed but that doesn’t mean it isn’t very likely to happen.

Duckingella · 27/04/2023 08:58

I think it pretty much boils down to it's the most significant occasion of his dads life and dad wants him there.

Rhondaa · 27/04/2023 09:04

Thing is he won't be snubbed because the rf don't behave like petulant arses so they'll smile, appear completely relaxed in his presence but he'll know its all fake and once he jets back to LA and Netflix there'll no doubt be a collective 'thank fuck for that'.

Except we aren’t talking about controversy. You are going on about Harry’s humiliation, nobody talking to him, him giving you the ick… so perfectly reasonable to ask if you’re actually interested in the event itself. Getting excited about someone’s humiliation that you’ve imagined is odd and it doesn’t make much sense for an adult.

Roussette · 27/04/2023 09:12

Exactly. Someone on MN (who I know to be a strong Royalist) said there will be so much booing of Harry. As if!

Firstly, if that's the case, the Police better watch out where the Republic supporters with their yellow banners and shouting are stood!

But why would a Royalist want the Coronation spoilt by booing? It won't happen by Republic supporters, or Harry detractors.

I doubt there will be many id any republican demonstrators anywhere near the main spots by the Abbey or prime places along the procession route. Because people will be camping out for those, and will there really be the same motivation to do that?

Roussette · 27/04/2023 09:18

Exactly 'Edith'
I understand the Republic demo is at Trafalgar Sq. No idea how that squares up with Coronation procession etc.

I don't think there will be any perceptible discomfort. All the retinues will be beautifully polite at all times, and he will have a suitably prominent place.

Any booing will be thoroughly drowned out by cheers (as is the case already, as "Not My King" demonstrators are routinely out-numbered by supporters who are considerably louder.

polkadotdalmation · 27/04/2023 09:20

@poppysockies I've found the best way to stay sane is not engage with these extremist republicans and royal family haters. After reading all their gaslighting posts you start to feel a bit crazy. You know you haven't said the things you're accused or hold the views they accuse you off so you realise it's all designed to make you look bad. Ignore and don't engage.

Roussette · 27/04/2023 09:21

Here is where they'll be. It will be very carefully managed by the Police no doubt.

This should be the last time Harry makes an appearance at a royal event- other than his father’s funeral I don’t think he will be seen again with any of them.

Who knows what will happen in private. Not everything has to be a state occasion or royal event.

8roses · 27/04/2023 09:23

Who is their King, if Charles isn’t? Strange mantra - they should mix it up a bit! - funny how they were drowned out by the school children yesterday.

8roses · 27/04/2023 09:24

Why, who do you think will want to spend time with him privately (if there is such a thing with Harry) ?

That was really funny because the footage I heard from a more central position showed they weren't drowned out at all !

It depends on what footage you watch I s'pose.

I won't speculate, it's not my place to.

Who knows. We might think we are in the drawing room sat with this famous family. We're not. We don't know everything. Nor should we.

8roses · 27/04/2023 09:26

I’m willing to speculate - nobody!

8roses · 27/04/2023 09:28

The republicans at least protest peacefully - I have nothing against them - just a joke - the children were funny though
